First Season Of "Marvel Super Hero Squad" Set To Launch Late 2009 On Cartoon Network
February 17, 2009 by James Harvey

The upcoming all-ages animated series is set to premiere later this year on Cartoon Network.

Marvel Animation Age has confirmed reports that Marvel Super Hero Squad will premiere on Cartoon Network in late 2009. The network has ordered 26 episodes of the series, which will feature Captain America, Silver Surfer, Hulk, Thor, Wolverine, Iron Man, and others, teaming up to fight crime. The series is based on the wildly successful toyline of the same name.

The half-hour is targeted for premiere in late 2009. Voice talent will include Steve Blum, Grey DeLisle, and Tom Kenny. Kenny has been confirmed as playing both Captain America and Iron Man for the series, with LeVar Burton providing the voice for Iron Man sidekick Rhodey. Alan Fine, Simon Phillips and Eric S. Rollman will exec produce, with Matt Wayne serving as story editor. Writers for the series include Mike Ryan, Eugene Son, Nicole Dubuc and Jim Krieg, with Mitch Schauer as supervising director and character designer.

So, what do you say? Kiddie crap? Or could this be interesting?

Pretty much a kids show. I'd say between DCs Krypto the super dog, and the new Batman Brave and the Bold. Something that adults and fans can watch but it's a show thats really made for the younger set. Since thats who the toy line is for in the first place.

I might catch an episode, but since it'll be on when I start school I doubt I'll really take time to watch it.

Hope it's not too "kiddie". Don't know how SS fit's in this but definately interested.

I just found out that Steve Blum (the voice of Wolverine) is also the voice of Shishio, Hakaider, and Gene.

Super Hero Squat. Hehe. :hehe: [/beavis]

If you guys want to see the intro for this show, it's online. You can easily find it if you know where to look.:cwink:

While I'm not a fan of the art style or of this show being a comedy, I do have to admit that the animation and action scenes look pretty damn good, and at least one comic scene from the intro was pretty funny.

The fact that its based on a toyline should suggest its going to be pretty kiddy in nature...wouldn't you guys agree...

Brave and the Bold may look kiddy but its actually a great watch...at first put off by the look but decided to sneek a peek...I recommend it to all...

:woot:

The one thing I don't get about B&B is why don't they just call in Superman? Why Batman? Bats is awesome & all, I can understand him for some of the little stuff. But Supes would obliterate almost all of the major stuff.

Saw the trailer. Definately too cutesy for me.

Where do you find the trailer? PM if it's not allowed here.

You can just type the title in on Youtube.

I haven't seen that much kiddie cheese since Showbiz turned into Chucky Cheeses

Because Batman had a best-selling movie out recently and Superman didn't.

And Superhero Squad is pretty lame. Yeah, its a kids show but so is The Brave and the Bold and that's still entertaining for probably a very good range of different viewer ages, even older geeks. This, on the other hand, has a very specific audience.

this series should hopefully last for 75+ episodes.. bring in characters from all corners of the marvel universe, most of which have never been animated before-- introduce them to the young kiddies--
wish list:
Luke Cage, Punisher, Blade, Coleen Wing, Pulsar, Daredevil, Misty Knight, Jewel...

To me...Superhero Squad looks really cool. Sure the series is aimed at a younger audience, but the heroes and villains wear the costumes from the 60's-70's, and the Helicarrier is their base. It is the first Marvel Universe cartoon (there are 14 heroes and nearly as many villains)...and I am going to give it a chance.

Would I watch it? Probably not
But I feel like it would appeal to young kids, which is who it's probably aimed at!

It's just a fun little show for the kids and there is honestly nothing wrong with that. It reminds me of the DC babies from the 70's/80's (anyone else remember those?).

Right now we have a spidey and an x-men cartoon and soon a (bad) iron man with a thor in the works so it isn't like this is the only cartoon marvel has out and our only option to see these characters.

Plus, they are going to have fing fang foom and modok :woot:
