Why is it going back to 2v2? I really liked creating themed 3 man-teams.

here's what I also have from game informer

The last big question for a Marvel Vs. Capcom game is the roster, but Capcom told me at the start of our meeting they wouldn’t be revealing anyone other than the four characters shown in the gameplay trailer shown off at the end of tonight’s Capcom Cup finals (Ryu, Mega Man X, Captain Marvel, and Iron Man). However, they did offer a few details about their direction.

When I asked them about the rumor that the game’s roster would not include as many (or any) characters from the X-Men or Fantastic Four series due film rights issues (the current film series for those franchises are owned by Fox and not Marvel Studios) and would instead favor characters already in the Marvel cinematic universe, Creative Director of Marvel Entertainment Bill Roseman didn’t tense up the way PR folks tend to when you ask them a difficult question. While Marvel wants to take a forward-thinking stance with the characters they include in the game, he wants to make sure fans of all of Marvel properties, including X-Men, were happy. “That heritage is not lost,” he told me. Not the straight answer I was looking for, but it left me hopeful about my chances of Berserker Barraging people as Wolverine next year.

Roseman and Executive Producer at Marvel Games Mike Jones also emphasized that they’re looking at this project the way they have all of their recent projects in games, film, and television (Jones brought up Insomniac’s upcoming Spider-Man game and their current run of well-regarded series on Netflix as a reference point). They want to make sure Infinite’s use of the Marvel license is well-earned, and mentioned the game will have a more expansive, cinematic story mode this time around. “We want to make sure this game is dripping with Marvel,” said Roseman.

thanks. I just saw the trailer.

this looks so insane. :word:

hope we don't have to wait too long before they start revealing the roster.

its easier to balance. I also think this means we will get a smaller roster

Tron or some mod, can you please change the title, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite or Marvel vs Capcom Series would probably work better now

I think UMVC3 had a good roster size, I hope this one isn't smaller! We need room for some Spidey reps.

Maybe it's just the 2v2 or gems, but the gameplay trailer reminded me of Street Fighter X Tekken.

UMvC3 had a big roster but they added like 12 characters to get there. MvC3 started with less. Going by what Capcom did with SFV, I can see a smaller roster. They are calling this Infinite instead of 4 so I think the game will be more of a platform that is ever expanding and not simply having a clear cut end like the last game. With that said, they have more room to add people over time if they dont start as big as UMvC3

Captain Marvel looks great with longer hair. I hope that will be her MCU look.

Though I am not impressed with the graphics of the gameplay trailer.

The starting line-up is definitely going to be smaller. Expect DLC but there is no way the starting line-up is as big, or bigger, than UMVC3's.

Is there any way Capcom can create a video game for Marvel without including the Capcom characters? Kinda like Marvel Super Heroes.

Personally, I'd be more interested to that since Marvel Super Heroes had a small roster. While this one just feels like a big update of MvC3.

2v2 + 1 Infinity Stone to make weak characters like Ryu & Spider-Man (Weak by MvC standards) equal to dominate characters so it's fair for everyone.

Let's face it after a month or two people only used like 10 characters out the roster anyways. That has to be fixed

The explanation is that they want to simplify the fighting system for people who may not have played the previous games. They argued cutting back to two-on-two teams means the tag system will be less confusing since it'll make it easier to time combos or assist moves.

Yeah I'd prefer to just see a Marvel game without the Capcom characters.

X-Men:CotA and Marvel Super Heroes were fine without the random Capcom freaks.

Not gonna happen anytime soon. They get nothing out of it if they aren't included.

what do you mean they get nothing out of it?

It isnt likely to happen bc Capcom's finances arent what they were in the 90s and cant sustain too many active fighters. A Marvel only fighting game now would be redundant

I'm just glad we're getting another Marvel vs Capcom game and that Capcom has seemingly learned from its mistakes with SFV.
