I assume that if they were to make a #3, it would be on the PS3. Has anybody heard any news of plans to continue the franchise?

I love the second one,but I don't see a third happening. No point for it,really.

Well im pretty sure there wont be another one since ea bought the rights from capcom or something along the lines of that, to where capcom cant make marvel fighting games

#2 is easily my favorite fighting game. I wish they'd make a 3rd and take out the BS characters like Jill, R.Hood, etc.

the franchise is dead. Capcom no longer has the rights and no longer seems interested in creating any original 2D fighters

How was Marvel VS Capcom 2 original?

Someone should go ahead making a Marvel Vs DC game instead...

if not, perhaps it is time for the 2d fighter game to rest in peace.

Jill is gangster when you know how to use her. She can be a real pest.

Dream team for me.

Spider-man
Venom
Akuma

There was a third one in the making, I believe. But, I haven't heard about it in a long time.

After the sucess of 2, the developers optioned Capcom VS SNK (after the acquistion or merger). With the sucess of that, they optioned CvSNK2, and were going to start the rough outlines of a MvC3. Around the time between finishing CvSNK2 and starting on a new project, Activision bought the rights to Marvel characters from them.

It was original in the fact that it was a new game. Capcom only releases compilations of their 2D fighters now. If they to release another VS game, it'll probably a Marvel VS collection or a Capcom vs SNK collection. I believe Capcom vs SNK 2 was their last original 2D fighter unless you count Capcom Fighting Evolution

Cap VS SNK 2 wasn't released that long ago.

Not to mention that for the most part 2d fighters are (unfortunatly) dead.

CVSNK2 came out 5 years ago in 2001. It was Capcom's last big original 2D fighter.

You're right about most 2D fighters being dead. SNK still continues to make KoF games and Sammy still makes Guilty Gear X games. I wish Capcom would get back into the genre bc they were developer for this, but that most likley isnt going to happen

5 years isn't that long of a time for something like this.

Now, a with the loss of the Marvel liscensing and the 'overexposure' of the Capcom fighting characters (read that somewhere about what they were planning next back in like 2002) what do they really have to draw from?

Hyato
Stryder
Ryu.

Or, if I want to be really ****ing gay and beat ANYONE I've ever played (never lost a match) I'll just go with

Blackheart
Juggernaut
Storm.

for me it was Cable, Spiderman and Ryu.

Captain Commando. He's pretty good as well

Yeah thats him one of my set ups is while having ken out use an assist to soften the player up. Then use ken's Shinyuken hitting the opponent straight up in the air then have captain Commando use the captain sword slamming him back down.

Holla back.

Cable and Wolverine was all I usually needed. I also really liked Hayato and that pirate woman whose name escapes me now.

Ruby Heart. Cable was the best fighter in the game. I was surprised he was included but loved every minute of playing with him. His gun attacks were pretty good.

Bc of this thread, Im thinking of playing this game again. I have to look for my DC version bc the PS2 version sucked

CC is necessary to my team. Nobody dares jump over him as he's probably the sickest anti-aerial character in the game.

so, I'm ususally playing with:

CC
Omega Red
Akuma

Anybody else ever have trouble running the disk in their PS2; it's a blue disk and I know those tend to give people problems.
