Marvel's DAMAGE CONTROL coming to ABC

Basically seems like what Agents of SHIELD was in it's first season, but okay. :o

And that's not even mentioning that NBC literally just greenlit a DC show with the same basic premise....

I wasn't sold on DC's pitch and we defiantly don't need two of them.

Right now its a race to whoever can get a pilot done and a season ordered the quickest.

I'm down for this. In fact I mentioned Damage Control in the other thread.

Um... no, not really. It'll be about ratings, not who gets their pilot done first.

i'm not familliar at all, it could be funny.
Probably set in the mcu, I guess.

With the right writing, this could be a hilarious half-hour show. Could be really creative.
But I don't have high hopes. :/

Single camera is like how your typical drama is filmed, though more comedies like Modern Family, The Office, etc, are using that these days. Multi camera is like you classic sitcom, like Friends, Seinfeld, etc, where you film in a studio and use multiple cameras in the same shot.

I'm hoping we see some comedic superheroes, even if they're z-listers.

The first thing I thought of when I heard this was, "didn't DC just announce this same thing like three weeks ago?"
I'm still going to watch it because the idea seems fun, but this is where I'm starting to think we're getting too much of a good thing. I'll wait and see before I make any judgement calls either way.

Yup, too much of a good thing. Same for the films, the genre will soon burst it's bubble by the sheer volume of participants.

People have been saying that for like a decade now. Still hasn't happened, not even close.

Oh and Damage Control is basically a group who's primary job is literally cleaning up the mess left over from the big superhero/supervillain fights. So for example, they'd be the ones cleaning up the wreckage/debris left over from the Battle of NY in TA.

I'm really not sure this is going to work, but let's let them figure it out before judging it.

BTW, it's just a pilot so far, right? There's no announcement that they've picked up a series.

The marketplace didn't have near the amount of CBM's and TV series a decade ago, so that doesn't factor into my reasoning. I don't think it will happen in the next few years, but I believe we're going to reach a saturation point sooner rather then later. Films and series will continue to be made, but the marketplace will self-correct and the rate of return will diminish, no matter the quality. We may even see this next year, it wouldn't surprise me..

I hope we see Michael Pena's Luis in this series :D

THR 02/06/2014:
Drew Pearce Talks About His Unproduced Marvel Screenplays
Graeme McMillan said:
All Hail The King, the Marvel One-Shot short that appears on the Thor: The Dark World DVD and Blu-ray may mark Iron Man 3 screenwriter Drew Pearce's directorial debut on a Marvel Studios project, but it could have gone so differently.

"I'd been trying to direct and write a One-Shot for Marvel since Runaways was picked up," Pearce told Total Film magazine. "The One-Shot program comes in and out of existence at points, and you have to will the shorts to happen… I'd written a few different characters across a few One-Shots, and so when Sir Ben [Kingsley] said he'd do this one, oddly enough that tipped this over the line -- that one of the greatest actors of his generation was agreeing to do what is essentially my ridiculous student film."

Pearce talked about some of the One-Shots he's written that haven't ended up in production. "One that was Sin and Crossbones [the latter character will appear in Captain America: The Winter Soldier]," he revealed. "I love Jessica Jones, and while obviously Jessica Jones and Alias is NOW going to exist in the Netflix part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I'd always obsessively been trying to put her in stuff I'd been working with Marvel on… but about three or four other ones, too."

He also named his great Marvel white whale: "My Marvel obsession with Damage Control [a comedy series about the company tasked with cleaning up after large-scale superhero battles] is still there, but it's pretty difficult to make into a short," he said. "The clue is in the title that you have to do a lot of damage to then control it - and that's not really in the budget of a short movie. I just think it's got huge potential as a franchise."

Psst, Marvel: Given the success of Iron Man 3 and Pearce's apparent luck in focusing on properties that end up in development or use elsewhere on the Marvel Studios slate, maybe you should think about a Damage Control movie after all…

AHTK was the best of all the One Shots, IMO.
