I was curious as to why movies like Daredevil and Fantastic Four aren't owned by Marvel or why Marvel doesn't have the rights to do them

because the rights were sold to other movie companies in times when Marvel had no money and no own movie studio.

believe they have 5 years since last film to put the film in production

both have done so

Yes but like Blade and Punisher are come back to Marvel (i believe also Man-Thing), why not F4? Fox said there was a movie in pre-production long time ago but nothin' is happened. We know DD is in pre-production right now at Fox, like the other X-Men's movies. We know that Sony is producing other Spidey's and Ghost Rider's movies. But F4? What's his status?

The last FF movie was like 4 years ago, I guess the rights will expire 2012 or 2013

From my understanding as long has FOX says there are in some sort of production they still hold the rights, So technically they could wait until the last minute to announce a reboot or something and still keep the rights. I could be mistaken and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable on the subject could clarify.

Honestly trying to guess whats in a contract is a little stupid...we don't know whats on the contract thats is keeping FF at Fox. We don't know whats going on behind the scenes.

Doesn't Constantin Film own the FF rights, not Fox?

Still, Constantin hasn't made anything noteworthy since Eichingers death. (except for all these Resident Evil movies and The three Musketeers). It's only a matter of time until Constantin will be bought by Fox (who distribute all their movies internationaly anyway. Constantin, afaik, only distributes in Germany, Austria and maybe Switzerland)

to be honest let fox keep them and see what they can do

the best comic book movie of the year was not a marvel film but a fox film

planet of the apes was one of the best films of the year also a fox movie

not to mention the highly anticipated Prometheus is also a fox movie

We already saw what Fox can do with CB properties.
And I honestly don't want to see that ever again.

well all i know is first class was superior to thor and cap by a long shot and fox made that

By a long shot? While I do like First Class, it's not a fact that it is far superior over the two Marvel Studios movies, so don't say it like it's the truth but merely your own opinion.

I do wish Marvel would buy back Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart and start the whole X Men franchise again. Do Fantastic 4 again, make a load of movies and connect them all together. One can dream...

Unless Marvel's willing to write a big check, I'd be very surprised if they get any of their rights back. Fox probably makes enough off of royalties that they can pay someone to work on a script regardless on whether they have any intentions of proceeding in the near future. When they attach a known screenwriter or director to a project, that's when you know actual progress is being made and not just enough to keep the rights.

Whilst I do think Fox and Rothman may have turned over a new leaf and realised that filmmakers know how to make films, not studio suits...

I'd love the F4 to be at Marvel. Don't really care about Daredevil or X-Men. Just F4. They'd fit in perfectly with what Marvel is trying to do.

not correct.
The contract between Fox and Marvel would stipulate what Fox would need to do in order to maintain rights. I would also guarantee that in order for for Fox to keep the rights they would have to do more than say "we're working on it"

No Annihilation without Silver Surfer and Galactus :-(.

Yup. I think Annihilation would be amazing as a trilogy. It'd have to be trimmed down though.

Sure, but unless there's an explicit stipulation that Fox has to produce a movie in xx years, I expect Fox can meet the threshold rather easily. It wouldn't surprise me if they're having up and coming screenwriters churn out scripts for these properties as basically auditions. And they can truthfully say, "we're working on scripts".

So hypothetically speaking if Daredevil and F4 were to revert back to Marvel, how quickly do you think we would realistically see these properties? I'm guessing it would be a while for Marvel to get the man without fear back on the silver screen as there's a log jam of characters ie. IM2, Thor2, Cap2, maybe Dr. Strange, Antman and Avengers2. That's not including the possible cosmic stuff they always talk about wanting to develop. So really, do you think DD would even make it the big screen in the near future with Marvel or is it beast for him to stay at FOX and hope they get it right finally.

Now the first family of Marvel is a different story. I think Marvel/Disney is salivating to get their hands on the F4. It's tailor made for an epic sci fi family adventure franchise and I think that would get fast tracked and bump one of the other properties mentioned above. Let's hope that 4/4/14 date is something Marvel has working up their sleeves.
