Somewhere Cate Blanchett's having a good laugh.

Blanchett was actually probably too attractive for Elizabeth.

Eh I don't really mind that much. I mean technically Jenna Coleman is probably too attractive to physically match young Queen Victoria (and Emily Blunt was as well). But their performances matter most to me and they're both good.

I don't think they need to match their counterparts, but if Mary being more attractive than Elizabeth does come up in the movie, it looks like they've got it covered.

Also it's amusing that some people didn't like that Elizabeth might be prettier than Mary in the film. But now that they're apparently addressing that, people cannot stop complaining about how "ugly" Margot looks here.

Irony, oh yes.

Well, they did it. They finally did it.

They found a way to make internet straights not want to f*** Margot Robbie.

Sorry Sawyer, but I still would.

If I don't want to **** her, how can I expect her to run a country?

Elizabeth's face was scarred due to smallpox and it looks like theyve given her those scars. Considering the horrid bathing habits back then, the fear of opening their pores, the questionable sometimes dangerous makeup (she wore a lot to try to hide the scars), and her smallpox scars she wouldnt have been a smooth faced lady like Cate Blanchett was in her movie. And the hairline is accurate to her portrait. So I'd give this look an A+ for accuracy.

That's only accurate for the latter years. When she was dealing with Mary QOS she was in her late 20's /early 30's.

It's why I said I hope they're filming some kind of epilogue here.

When you always wondered if there was a female version of Larry Fine, now you know.

Same. It's funny what a wig and some make up can alter a beauty like Margot. :funny:

She looks like I would expect a 30 year old Elizabeth living in the 16th century to look. She had small pox scars from a young age. They wore lead based makeup and didnt know the first real thing about proper skin care. You shouldn't expect her to have the face of a 30 year old 21st century white collar woman.

Looking whiter than Casper the ghost was all the rage back then. If you had a tan it meant you probably worked outside and were a filthy peasant.

How times have changed.

'Elizabeth' and it's sequel never claimed to be historically accurate, they were more historical based fantasy than anything else, merely using the major events in Elizabeth's life as a loose template, that extends to how they made her look in her later years. The major draw of those movies was Blanchett's incredible performance as Elizabeth, Robbie has some pretty huge shoes to fill to try and live up to that because you know that everyone will be playing comparisons when this movie is released. Not only to Blanchett, but also to Judi Dench, Bette Davis, Helen Mirren, e.t.c. A lot of really iconic actresses have played this role.

Well TBF, Elizabeth isn't really going to be the main character here. Mary is, her name is in the title after all.
