I didn't finish Mass Effect 2 it became too much a chore. I suppose thats the wonderful thing about this day and age, youtube. Wouldn't have had that tens years ago.
Interesting, about the time it took to finish Mass Effect (1) was the almost the same time Mass Effect 2 became a chore. Mass Effect 2 seems to be a longer game, not necessarily a good thing.

I loved Mass Effect 2's ending.

Me too.

I remember the finale getting alot of criticism, though. I didn't feel that way, but I remember people saying it was a letdown.

I think it was because of the Giant Reaper/Human hybrid. That's what I remember getting all the hate.

I'm not a fan of Prinze, Jr., although he's done some good work on Psych and, as you mentioned, 24 lately. But Vega's look hasn't really bothered me at all. Then again, you mentioned he acts like a Jersey Shore guy, which I haven't seen so far because my only exposure to him has been in the demo. Honestly, he seemed like kind of a personality-less drone in that

I'm not exactly a fan, either. I did think he was great in 24, though.

I don't watch the Jersey Shore, so I have no idea if he's behaving like them or not. I haven't seen enough of him to decide what to expect, really.

I think it is a good thing. And, it's expected. An RPG has to be long. Especially by today's standards, because there seems to be such an emphasis on how condensed the majority of other games (mostly shooters) are, and how short a regular campaign can be with them (around 7 or 8 hours seems to be the norm). That length is kinda something gamers who prefer a Mass Effect over an FPS is going to look at.

Mass Effect 1 feels like a chore to me, whereas I could play Mass Effect 2 basically forever (and just may do that, to be honest). The Mako stuff really kills ME 1 for me, and unlike the mineral mining in ME 2, there's no way you can avoid it or minimize it. Want to land on a planet? Mako. Want to get around Noveria? Mako. Basically, you better learn to love the Mako or just give up on replaying ME 1 too often. So I did the latter.

I fail to see how a giant human reaper is anymore ridiculous than the army of giant cuttlefish reapers we've seen so far.

I figured the Reapers were humanoid at one point anyway. Their ships look like giant hands attached to the head of a squid to me.

Personally I think a game like Mass Effect suits something like the first games length. Unless it has lots of interesting varabiles, the repetitive nature can shine through. I suppose thats partly why first person shooters tend to be short, especially Call Of Duty as the single player gameplay tends to be walking in a straight line playing wack-a-mole. Older first person shooters with more complicated design (.e.g. Doom II) probably could do on for 20-30 hours. Not to say Mass Effects is "Call Of Duty" but glueing yourself to a wall in mostly linear levels shooting fellows for for 60+ (or whatever it is) hours VS 30 will probably tend to show up as more repetitive unless really good twists are thrown in. Which, I couldn't really see. It was the same thing over and over again for the most part.

I fail to see how anyone could of been let down with the ending of ME2. You make a choice to keep the Collector base, or destroy it. Afterwards, you see the Reapers on their way to the Milky Way.

What's not to like?

Anything people think they could have written better, because it wasn't what they wanted and what they wanted is right.

Didn't you know? Anyone can write these things, and fans know how to do it better than the people getting paid to do it.

Ohhhhhh. Silly me.

One of the guys on my list is playing ME3 already! Level 16, 150G. Bastard! (not dodgy, he's in the industry and always receives games early)

ahhh that's the very reason we're told to keep our lids on the games shut when we work for the industry. or they put a money fine/penalty on us. Added to the envy of our buddies. There's just no winning.

I hate that guy on your behalf.
Thanks lol. He said it was 'brilliant' & apart from the biggest titles a few days before release he is pretty much a MP exclusive guy so him saying that means something.

Ah you work in the industry? That must be almost impossible to do! :woot: This guy owns a pretty big company so he can probably do what he wants. I'm really thinking of retiring early (well still 20 more years at least) and getting involved some way or other just to go to all the conventions and see stuff developing.

Agreed.

I actually know many people that hated ME2's ending. Many. I'm not one of them but they exist.

If the ending us Shepard with whoever he chokeslams to be with riding off into the sunset after saving the galaxy I'd actually be fine with that.

I would just like to say that the autocorrect of "chooses to be with" to chokeslam made this the best auto correct paragraph... Ever.

Anyone else a bit bummed that an ME 2 save with a dead Shep won't import into ME 3 at all? It would've been nice if they at least gave us a little cutscene of the Reapers destroying life in the galaxy unopposed.

I remember reading a review, and I think also hearing a reviewer say on a podcast, that the "Giant Terminator" and the finale nearly made him subtract an entire point from the overall review score.

Personally, I think that's insane. But, it was something I remember people complaining about when ME2 came out. It's something that helps me put into perspective when I hear some people have been letdown with the leaked stuff for ME3. Because, there were people who felt the same way about ME2.

A quick, 5 minute video of the Universe being massacred would be enough to get me to go on an entire playthrough into death.

I'm a game tester job wise and no I'm not allowed to talk about certain games til after they've launched. I'm also in school off and on studying art cause I'm planning on doing game modding art (that's creating game characters and objects in 3d in the games)

and some story boarding ,added story writing design too. So I'm not on the same level as your buddy. But my buddies were always asking me to get them in some way with the game testing job or asking to tell them some thing about a game, while I was working it. lol it's a pain. and your not allowed to utter the title even.

I love the job and the industry though.

Yeah, I hate how self-important reviewers think it's about what they like / don't like, and assign arbitrary numbers based on that. It's pretty sad.

well Not all of them are like that. but yeah some of them( sessler and whom ever it is depending ) are like that. But the whole point is it's all opinion in the end.

And what matter in the end is your own , if you agree with them or not.but in some case there are reviewers that are actually trying to make sure that aren't any bad games being bought just by warning you.

Nice, sounds very interesting. Good luck with that. All the big guys started somewhere and I imagine it can be a very rewarding career. Especially if you can be involved in any way on a game like Mass Effect!

For real. I think I'm still gonna go for a Shep dies playthrough when I'm done with my other ones, though. I mean, if you're actually trying to fail the suicide mission, you can comfortably skip a lot of stuff, like recruiting half your team, researching anything, etc.

Another thing to do is make sure that you are nearly out of fuel
