Mass Effect 3 - Part 5

Personally I think a game like Mass Effect suits something like the first games length. Unless it has lots of interesting varabiles, the repetitive nature can shine through. I suppose thats partly why first person shooters tend to be short, especially Call Of Duty as the single player gameplay tends to be walking in a straight line playing wack-a-mole. Older first person shooters with more complicated design (.e.g. Doom II) probably could do on for 20-30 hours. Not to say Mass Effects is "Call Of Duty" but glueing yourself to a wall in mostly linear levels shooting fellows for for 60+ (or whatever it is) hours VS 30 will probably tend to show up as more repetitive unless really good twists are thrown in. Which, I couldn't really see. It was the same thing over and over again for the most part.

You've got a point, when something like the DLC for ME2, The Arrival, puts a ton of emphasis on the part of Mass Effect that is not it's strong suite. The corridor shooting got boring for me, and I didn't have my team and they're powers to mix things up.

What I find curious, is EA wanting to bring in hardcore shooters (which, I don't even know is possible) to ME3. And, even if the shooting is as good as the best third person shooters...the game is still going to wind up being longer than a shooter. I don't know how that's supposed to work, aside from just getting their money and not looking back.

I'm just curious how that is supposed to work out. Reaching out to that segment of gamers.

the let down in ME2's ending for me was how short the suicide mission was. i expected it to take a good hour. it takes maybe 25 minutes.

It took me an hour. I did, however, spend quite a bit of time just staring at my TV deciding who to send where for the first time.

I heard about how people were disappointed in the endings so I checked out the Bioware spoiler forum yesterday. Got the gist of all the endings and yeah... the ME2 ending was fine for what it was; if these are really the only endings for ME3 they're f**king bulls**t.

I'm happy I spoiled myself because if I didn't know what was heading my way I'd be way more pissed to find out that's it. A journey isn't always about the destination but FFS it is terrible that they shoehorn everybody into the same ending with a couple variables.

I think once I beat Mass Effect 3, I might understand what you mean or have a better idea.

But, knowing what I do about ME1 and ME2...those two had pretty much the same beginnings and endings for everyone. We all became Commander's of the Normandy after Sidonis' death and finding the Reaper artifact that gave us visions, we all became Spectre's, we all defeated Saren, we were all dead for two years before being brought back by Cerberus and The Illusive Man, and (unless you died) we all saw that massive fleet of Reaper warships doing an Imperial march.

I'm not saying your wrong, just that I'm keeping the endings and beginnings in mind with the previous two when I read your comment.

Yeah, was everyone expecting to have different endings? Because I wasn't.

During the meat of the game us where we all have different experiences.. We all pretty much got the same endings though. In both 1 and 2.

So, I don't see the issue.. If that is the issue.

What is this I am reading about that none of the choices we have made matter towards the end ?

Thought you guys might like this. :awesome:

Bioware said straight up there were going to be different endings, and there are different endings. It's just the content of the endings that have some riled up.

Ah, well, that's to be expected. Bioware cod hand out the best endings possible and people would still b& m. Mostly the ones that proclaim themselves to be fans of Bioware... All the while saying every game they make sucks.

I was fine with ME1's "no ending" or "barely there" ending as some called it. I was fine with the ending to ME 2 that many hated.. SO I expect to be OK with 3's ending.

I'll just wait and see.

Legion!
Nice to see the Destiny Ascencion, too.

Yea i loved both endings to the 2 games. Thought the end for ME2 kicked so much ass. I wanted ME3 like the second the credits stopped rolling.

Yeah, there are moments that we all share. But they hype up how choices matter and in the end none of them do. They might matter in the big picture but what a lame way to end the trilogy.

So you're fine with everybody sharing the exact same ending with minor variations? I wasn't expecting everyone to have a unique ending, but I was expecting each ending to be distinctly different from one another.

Also, all this "ending" talk is getting to be a bit much.

So.. For real this time... I'm out.

What I want most is a satisfying conclusion with whoever our romance choices are.

I wonder if this could hurt their next planned game ? Not the next Mass Effect game. But what ever they decide to do next

Yes.

I won't get my panties twisted over that.

It's a cop out to force everybody into the same ending after half a decade of saying this series is all about player choice hahah. I doubt it'll muddy the entire experience but I'm still glad I know what's coming because my expectations for a gut-wrenching finale got blown up.

Can someone pm me the endings or link them? I'm looking on the forums but haven't found them yet.

Did you like the endings for the 1st or 2nd game?

Did you like the endings for the 1st or 2nd game?

Yeah.

The first game's ending was rad coz Shepard stopped this epic attack and was gonna bring the fight to the Reapers, not to mention playing Faunts during the credits was the perfect way to end that experience.

The second game's ending, the actual ending and Arrival, were fine to me because they set the stage for the third game. I don't want to outright spoil it for anybody who doesn't want to know but I was expecting more.

The choices you made in the past games are delt with through the meat of the game.

Seriously though, in regards to ending talk.. Can it all be kept in spoiler tags? I like this thread too much to stay out.
