Massive Civil War Spoilers from Amazon (click at own risk)

It's not a flashback. You're grasping at straws, Tony survives CW.

sure looks to me like the exchange between tony and natasha takes place before the events the events of that book. perhaps, he's asking her join?

Well the story isnt over yet.

Well, you do know that in Bullet Points #3,
The Hulk (Peter Parker) kills Iron Man (Steve Rogers), right?
and there are only two more issues of the mini series left? So it's a good chance that the image from Amazon is NOT from Bullet Points and that it's either a photoshop job or the real deal.

Bullet Points could skip to the future, or...

...Tony got Thor's DNA from the Avengers' very first meeting, right? Which means, over the years, he could have collected dozens of material suitable for cloning - including Cap's. After the final battle, during which Cap might die/fake his death (either way, both the public and the anti-reg side think he's gone, maybe some of the pro-reg, as well), Tony realises how discouraged everone is and releases his clone of Cap, claiming that he has realised the error of his ways and wishes to atone for the mistakes by donning that suit of armour.

It's a possibility, isn't it?

No, that would be a major copout

Oh, I agree: The only instances of Cap's shield being damaged are by heavy cosmic level powers (something waaay beyond anything Frank could set-up, I dont care how much prep time he has).
I'm not familiar with antarctic Vibranium though...what's that all about?

Wikipedia said:
The Antarctic variety of vibranium produces, rather than absorbs, vibrations; these vibrations liquefy all metals that come into contact with the substance, up to and including the otherwise indestructible metal known as adamantium. Large samples of Antarctic vibranium have caused metals that were merely near them to liquefy. Its effect on Uru is unknown.

hmmmmm... very interesting

Check the link again, amazon have taken it down. Pretty damning piece of evidence to suggest that this book is real and marvel aren't happy about it.

If we see another month's delay in civil war shipping...I guess we know why :o

We're all reading too much into this. maybe the cover just means that Tony Stark is to Americans post-civil war as Cap was to Americans during WW2. He's not ever shown wearing that gaudy-ass costume, anyway. I think it's symbolic as to Iron Man becoming the new "Captain America", not in name or costume, but in that Americans rally behind him.

Also, if DD is Ronin, what happens to his ongoing where he's still Daredevil? Nothing, that's what. It'll be either Clint, Cap, or someone we never even thought to suspect. Just like last time.

EDIT: That dude on the cover of Iron Man 17 looks asian. Maybe Mandarin? WW2 Cap wouldn't look that old even if he had never been frozen. He'd still be somewhat fortified for his age.

This is the best theory.

Thanks for the info and Dang!!!...that sounds like bullets somehow made from this stuff and fired from a non-metal gun might actually do the kind of damage to Cap's shield those pic's have shown!!

However, I doubt it would be Frank holding the gun, he likes cap and supports his side (in his own special way...).
Tony could come up with something using the stuff though, and with him whipping up other measures against his 'friends' just in case they turn on him (like rigging the Spider-armor to collect data on peter's powers that he could use against him down the line) I wouldn't put it past him blasting cap with it in the finale.

Well, the thing about Cap's shield is that it has vibranium in it. I don't know what effect antartic vibranium has on regular vibranium. It's possible that they cancel each other out and antartic vibranium bullets would just bounce off like regular bullets. But, yeah, the way things are going, I wouldn't put it past Marvel to come up with some excuse as to how Tony could shoot up Cap's shield.

His shield being shot up, is like a cover showing Green Goblin killing Spider-Man, it's not gonna happen.

Yes, it probably is just symbolic, we're just guessing as to a way it might happen if it aint.:cwink::yay:

Well Cap's shield is an alloy, so in any given area there won't be as much normal vibranium as if the shield were made purely from it...so with that in mind a pure antarctic vibranium shell of some kind might have enough 'juice' in it to get past the impact absorbing properties the normal vibranium in the shield has...maybe...:cwink:

Yeah, I know. I thought about that too, but it seems like the alloy has made it stronger rather than weaker. Or maybe it's just more stable than vibranium since vibranium has a tendency to go unstable if it absorbs too much energy. Like I said, if Marvel wants to find a way to make this more than just a dramatic thing, they'll find a way. If anything, Clor should be a reminder of that.:(

I must say, it's freaking me out to see you out of the art forum Wobbly.:o:D

Thanks for the props, supermarvelman. I'm liking the antarctic vibranium bullets idea... I could see 42 having special guards that are armed with (most likely expensive) antarctic vibranium bullets, just in case the ambush would occur. Iron Man thinks ahead, that's the kind of thing he wiould prepare with. Also, Cap's shield being part vibranium could be why the bullets left holes but didn't melt the metal entirely.

Or, it was a fake.

Your welcome Goodt!mes, I had a similar theory but didnt know how to express it, but you where spot on.

Or, it was a fake.

Doubtful, if it was afake they would have left it up long enough for people to see it in order to have the required impact. The fact that it got pulled a couple of days after going up would suggest someone ****ed up.

Hope so. However, since the link to Amazon was a pre-order page for a book that had yet to be released, meaning it gives people the opportunity to order it in advance, ensuring they'll get copies as soon as it comes out. If it was a phony deal put up by Amazon and people did try to order it (and I'm sure some people may have tried to), Amazon risks losing business that way because a potential customer would essentially be throwing their money away on something that doesn't exist. That's not a good way to maintain one's customer base.

Also, it's not like anybody--unless they was a hacker perhaps--can but up a phony order form for a book. Amazon webmasters would have to put it up themselves. Also, the fact that this was on there for what, three days? You would think they would've pulled it down long before then if it was just a fake. Not saying it's not possible what you said, but it's just as probable that Amazon got a solicit from Marvel for an upcoming book and put it up without realizing that it gave away a huge spoiler for a story that hadn't finished yet. Marvel realized what happened, contacted Amazon, and Amazon pulled it off their advance order form. If it comes back after Civil War #7 next month, and especially if Cap "dies" in that issue, then we know it was legit.

Its happened before, this isn't the first time Amazon has posted a fake listing only to find out it was fradulent. They'll survive.

i don't know why everyone keeps saying this...the ONLY time
tony as iron man
is shown, is in a FLASHBACK. you can tell it's clearly a flashback because
black widow's hair is different
than it is in the PRESENT.

yeah it's a flashback, but it could be a flashback of a couple of days after CW and before the Mighty Avengers were formed. Remember in the first page Ms Marvel did say they were a team for about 15 minutes.

and the different haircut doesn't mean anything, it could either be artist error, or just old pictures they had of the Black Widow, the pictures they're looking at of Natasha have both long and short hair, plus she's a woman, women change thier hairstyles everyother week.

Who's to say it's Black Widow?
