Massive explosion in Beirut, Lebanon

Whoa that after blast went fast and hard!

My God that explosion was harrowing.

Apparently, it was caused by ammonium nitrate (similarly to the Tianjin explosions few years ago).

Clearly, stuff wasn't stored properly. But it does make sense that something else caught fire just before the extremely explosive stuff caught on.

How big is the death/injury rate?

Last I saw, 50 dead, 2500? injured.

someone made a supercut of the explosive

Why the hell was there nearly 3000 tonnes of explosives in the middle of the city?

Confiscated at the port. And then, just kind of sat there...

It honestly looks like something out of an anime. That's how surreal it all looks. So horrible.

Well Hezbollah are in control of the port and they do like their bombs to go blow up people.

Afaik sodium nitrate is used in fertilizer and other applications. Its not only used for explosives. So I suspect there is a **** ton of sodium nitrate in most cities.

Oh ****. In one of those clips there are cars in motion and it cuts right as the shockwave hits them.

Yikes.

Come on, man. Every news outlet is reporting that it was ammonium nitrate confiscated at the port and stored improperly. No need to bring terrorism into it when there is no evidence of it.

Horrible and scarry that we may have seen thre deaths of those people recording in their pov of their final moments
