The Force Awakens Max von Sydow as Darth Plagueis?

That's what I'm thinking of Sydow.

You think there could be someone behind or usurping Serkis?
I think Driver usurps Serkis rather quickly, but near the end of the film will find someone very old. Perhaps the first Sith.

Oh, you think Serkis' role is even smaller than I thought!

With Serkis I can see a few things. I could see him being the vessel for the ancient Sith, or perhaps becoming the "servant" of Driver's character. There is some talk that Serkis will play someone with Luke. So you never know.

Wow, I never realised Driver's character might be so powerful. I thought this was going to be a Naruto/Sasuke scenario, where both (Driver and Boyega/Daisy) start growing more powerful together, just on opposite sides.

There was a rumor early on from someone who has been pretty accurate, that there would be two Sith and that the apprentice would take over the power dynamic rather quickly. I like that idea. If Driver is basically Vader, he needs to be formidable.

Sure, maybe they'll give people the Anakin-type character that wasn't done in the PT.

What if Luke's apprentice is actually a powerful Sith master, but his mind was Forced wiped, and now he thinks he is just a powerful Padawan of Luke's.Then the Padawan gets his memory back.

Then JJ has been playing too much KOTOR

Max Von Sydow as Maul, Christopher Plummer in Ep 8 as Opress :o

i hope to god they leave sith out of this...

Why would you hope that? It's the light side vs the dark side, that's what star wars is. It's not about science fiction nearly as much as it's about the wizards and knights of the galaxy.

Yeah... even if they don't call them "the Sith", it's obvious that whoever is wielding that red lightsaber is a dark Jedi or something of the sort.

I suspect there are going to be multiple "Collectors" who wear the garb of past lords of the Sith and perhaps search for Darth Plagueis (or a similar ancient rule of two exempt with). The guy in the trailer and concept are looks awfully like Revan, the other concept art looks awfully like Darth Bane (both are probably introduced for spinoff potential?), and the cyborg appears to be obsessed with Vader. That's my theory anyway, it makes a lot more sense for multiple antagonists than just Driver wearing different armors.

If Darth Revan is introduced in any way. I hope Disney will be prepared for the fan base wanting a spin off Knights Of The Old Republic trilogy. Since the games were never finished. Disney is sitting on a gold mine

I'm not thinking he will be introduced, but a name drop wouldn't shock me. AMC movie talk suggested they may have KOTOR or ancient trilogies interwoven between the main saga, to keep things fresh.

I hope Revan will be mentioned or will in some capacity end up being in a potential movie, spinoff, or "STAR WARS: REBELS." Also, really want to see Darth Bane or a namedrop about him. What would be cool too is if Andy Serkis is Bane all along and has been resurrected--- hence the "awakening." Luke's Force powers have been enhanced or awakened but have proven destructive, the Sith somehow find a way to resurrect their ancient leader and thus Luke has to come out of exile and save the galaxy from the Empire and the Sith once again with his pals.

my only problem, and i kinda stated this in another thread, is if they bring back the "sith" it ruins Vaders who legacy. vader the chosen one to destroy the sith... only for them to return in 30 years :/ i dont know how i feel about that

bring in something new, like dark jedi... heck before the prequels we never knew the sith terminology and figured vader and the emperor were dark jedi's.

heres the chance to start something fresh, i just dont want vaders story to be worthless, devalues the who 6 movies to me..

on a lighter note, my friend and i were discussing this tonight, ive been preaching to him about the whole sith returning. and he told me, if kylo ren is a sith? why isnt there darth before his name? he must not be a sith....

Vader's legacy was not worthless. Regardless of any prophecy he left a blank slate for the Jedi order to rebuild and destroyed the Darth Bane Lineage. If a fanatic like driver somehow awakens an ancient evil, that wouldn't undo any of vaders legacy. It would still be a new era in the force. The prophecy is never directly stated in current cannon so therefore it's open to interpretation.

I expect serkis is Plagueis (with an origin differing from the novel). I don't think he will be bane, but as kylo ren is wearing armor that resembles his (and at some point revan's) so I think there will be a name drop. I suspect plagueis or whoever serkis is playing, is a weakened Sith Lord who's existed in hiding, trained the emperor to be so powerful (behind his true masters back), and is believed dead. Kylo Ren, being a fanatic, hopes to find Serkis, and impress him with his collection of relics, and ultimately learn from him to become as powerful as the Emperor once was.

Luke is rumored to severely injure kylo. I'd like to see him take command of Gwendoline Christie's inquisitors and the empire, and fights with serkis to become the "True" sith in episode VIII

I've been going through this thread and I haven't stumbled across this yet. If I have somehow missed it , I apologize for rehashing an already discussed topic. I've been laying back and not really reading any spoilers or details until recently because of my level of excitement jumping up a few hundred levels . I've been reading that Sydow might be playing an aged and old Kanan from the Rebels cartoon. Tying the series to the movies . Part of me finds that really cool just because it would be awesome to have characters making appearances in all forms of Stars Wars media . Part of me doesn't believe it because i almost wonder if that's wasting his talents . I've seen some of the Rebels episodes and I really do like the Kanan character but I have my doubts . Just curious if anyone else has heard this and what they think ? I've also read he plays an aged Boba Fett that did manage to escape death and has numerous cybernetic parts

There was an early rumor that Sydow's character was from the Clone Wars.
Idk if that was ever debunked or expanded upon.

As for wasting his talents, Sydow's character [BLACKOUT]is killed in the first act so regardless of who his character is he is a very very small part of this film. [/BLACKOUT]
