The mayor of a city in Russia has issued a list of excuses that he will not tolerate from civil servants.

Alexander Kuzmin, mayor of Megion in western Siberia, said that officials must stop using phrases such as "I don't know" and "it's lunch time".

Mr Kuzmin said city officials should help improve people's lives and solve their problems, not make excuses.

The mayor's press office said the list consists of 27 forbidden phrases, including "there's no money".

BANNED PHRASES INCLUDE:
What am I supposed to do?
I'm not dealing with this
We're having lunch
The working day is over
Somebody else has the documents
I think I was off sick at the time

Mr Kuzmin warned in a statement that "the use of these expressions by city administration officials while speaking to the head of the city will speed their departure."

He said he was taking action as he was tired of civil servants telling him that problems were impossible to solve, rather than offering practical solutions.
Bad news for Niko.

How about, "Bite me, Mayor" ? Does that count as an excuse?:woot:

Wow, kind of glad to live in the U.S...

Bah! That can easily be sidestepped by saying things like "I'm right on top of that" or "I'll have it done in no time." As soon as the mayor brings up something you don't know about or someone else was put in charge of, just involve yourself in it immediately. And if you're asked something during lunch, lie to the mayor if it's over the phone, or eat while you work.

Banning excuses. huh? I need to talk to Mirko. Maybe we can incorporate something like this in the varied box office discussion threads. :ninja: :o

Suprised "I quit" isn't on there.

Wasn't being "sent to Siberia" what the USSR did to troublemakers during the cold war? I'd hate to think of where they would be sent to from Siberia.
