We will be doing VS. battles for the MCU every week and will be using the Winners and Losers to create an accurate power tier list created by some of it's biggest fans (you). So don't forget to VOTE and after voting for a Winner please include a comment on which power tier, both the Winner and Loser should reside within. Also, see below for more details on the characters abilities as well as for a list of available power tiers to choose from.

Don't forget to put which Tier group you think Doctor Strange and Ghost Rider belong to in your posts.

So, without further delay here is this week's match up, P.S. Both heroes have the ability open portals so none of that BFR nonsense will work here because Ghost Rider has that power as well not just Doctor Strange.

DOCTOR STRANGE VS. GHOST RIDER

DOCTOR STRANGE

Master Sorcerer: As the present guardian of the New York Sanctorium, Strange, despite his relative inexperience, is one of the most powerful Masters of the Mystical Arts, possessing a extremely high level of mastery which he uses to defend his native reality. Strange makes up for his lack of experience with his gifted intellect, photographic memory, and ingenuity, as he swiftly imprisoned Loki, and even defeated Kaecilius by outsmarting Dormammu, forcing the latter to leave Earth's dimension and take Kaecilius with him.

- Eldritch Magic Manipulation:
Strange wielding Tao Mandalas in battle.
Strange is able to shape and manipulate Eldritch Magic, forming constructs of tangible energy like weapons or shields, or cast spells by writing specific formations with the fiery energy. He demonstrated the ability to form Eldritch Whips and Tao Mandalas, and scan a piece of Thor's hair with the energy to aid in forming a portal that would take him to Odin. He can also use Eldritch Magic to conjure platforms for his allies to walk upon, as shown when Star-Lord jumped across them to attack Thanos and he was able to generate powerful bolts of fiery energy that he used against Thanos during the battle at Titan, well as a sword made of fiery energy that he used to engage Thanos alongside Drax.

- Levitation: Using the Cloak of Levitation, Strange is able to levitate, hover, and fly. The Cloak can greatly lessen the impact of falling from great heights by effortlessly reducing his speed.

- Teleportation: Using a Sling Ring, Strange is able to open portals that lead to different locations, gaining the ability to both move across the material world and transport himself to other parts of the Multiverse. Strange can also teleport others at great speeds, with him notably causing a portal to move and engulf Thor and Loki, sending them to Odin's location, which he was able to locate by grabbing a piece of Thor's hair and scanning it with his Eldritch Magic energy.

- Inter-Dimensional Travel: Using the same Sling Ring, Strange can travel between different dimensions of the Multiverse, crossing over different planes of existence or traveling across various forms of reality. However, Strange was notably able to access the Mirror Dimension and transport himself and the Zealots there without the Sling Ring. Furthermore, Strange can forcibly transport others to another dimension, and later retrieve them, as he did when temporarily imprisoning Loki in a dimension where he was constantly falling, leaving him there for thirty minutes until Thor asked for his release.

- Transmutation: During his meeting with Thor, Strange was able to turn a cup of tea into a large mug of beer that was also able to magically refill itself, much to Thor's pleasant surprise. During the battle in Titan, Strange was able to transmute several attacks of Thanos, first transmuted an attack in crystalline fractals appearing similar to the fractal-like appearance of the Mirror Dimension, and later another attack in multitudes of blue butterflies.

- Duplication Spell: During the battle on Titan, Strange was able to create thousands of copies of himself to attack Thanos with Eldritch Whips. These duplicates quickly dispersed when Thanos retaliated against them, with only the real Strange remaining

GHOST RIDER

- Superhuman Strength: Reyes displayed a certain degree of superhuman strength, being able to overpower thugs, and massacring them without any effort, notably breaking men's skulls while bashing in their heads, even ripping another man's spine out. While transformed, Reyes could tear the bumper off a car with his bare hands. Ghost Rider was the first person to break out of a Containment Module, which held other super-powered beings, through brute force, an act that Leo Fitz claimed to be impossible. He was also able to overpower the super strong Jeffrey Mace and beat him close to death, and he managed to destroy a Life-Model Decoy of Anton Ivanov by throwing it several meters up in the air and smashing it against a column.

- Superhuman Durability:When the Spirit of Vengeance assumes control, he is almost invulnerable to harm or damage. He survived a firework factory explosion and remained conscious, unlike Hellfire who also survived but was knocked out. Also, when transformed, he was immune to I.C.E.R. shots, which merely bounced off him with no effect. Ghost Rider also resisted Aida's electrokinesis powers, being little if not affected by her energy blasts. He is also bullet proof and has even been impaled with carbon spikes by Eli Morrow and was completely unfazed.

- Regenerative Healing Factor: The supernatural energies that empower Robbie provides full recovery from any damage done to him. Though he received a cut on his face while battling Quake, these injuries disappeared the next day without even a scar. After getting a burnt hole in his face due to Hellfire's attacks and then transforming into Ghost Rider, he emerged afterward in his human form without any sign of being damaged at all. This means that transforming into Ghost Rider and then back to his human form can allow him to recover completely from damage instantly. Reyes has described himself as nearly impossible to kill.

- Fire Manipulation: As Ghost Rider, he is resistant to fire and seemingly no flames are capable of burning either him or his clothing. He is able to imbue a metal object he touches with fire, using the object as a melee weapon, which he has done to objects such as pipes, tools, car parts, and even chains. He can do so even without transforming into Ghost Rider. His control over fire allowed him to form a ring of fire around the car he crashed into with his own flaming vehicle.

- Incineration: Reyes is able to channel his fire to incinerate beings into ashes. He was able to set his entire hand ablaze while transformed to incinerate Frederick by touching him, which he did again to other ghosts, even in his human form and once with his flaming chain.

- Intangibility Cancellation: Unlike ordinary humans, Ghost Rider can touch non-corporeal entities, or at least individuals whose bodies are out of phase with the Earth realm. If the situation requires, he can hold them and completely incinerate them with his fire. He was able to grab Frederick by the arm and neck in his human form before transforming and burning Frederick into embers with his blazing hand, he was able to burn Vincent to embers with the Hellfire Chain, and he was able to do the same to Hugo with his touch, though in the latter events, he was able to do so without even transforming.

- Power Imbuing: Ghost Rider has the ability to imbue his power into inanimate objects, such as weapons, vehicles, etc.: He has used this power to make his car the Hell Charger become nearly indestructible. R. Moore fired a rocket launcher straight at the hood, all the rocket did was launch the car into the air and engulf it in flames, but neither the explosion, the fire, or crashing from several stories up had any effect on the car. It has crashed into other cars and even had a head on collision with an invisible Quinjet at full speed, without any harm such as scratches or dents.

- Inter-Dimensional Travel: Ghost Rider acquired the ability to generate portals to alternate universes and different dimensions during his time in a Hell dimension. By simply swirling his Hellfire Chain in a fashion similar to a Sling Ring, he creates a vortex that is enough to open the Inter-Dimensional Gate.

- Superhuman Agility: Ghost Rider is very agile. His supernatural augmented being allows him to maneuver quickly and perform stunts such as flipping around to attack the enemy.

Ghost Rider is mega powerful. But...Doctor Strange last movie showed the ability to compete with a Cosmic character, at least temporarily. Gotta give it to him.

If strange isn't allowed to BFR I'm inclined to give it to give it to Ghost Rider cause he can take a lot of punishment where as Strange is more like a glass Cannon. Both are Powerhouse tier IMO

The thing in this fight is Strange won't come at him with Physical attacks, he will be using magic and mystical ones. I see these being more effective against Ghost Rider. Strange literally could strand him in space if he so wished.

that would count as BFRing(Battle Field Removal) and now that I think of it Robbie can use his chain to open portals that are exactly like the ones the Mystics open with their Sling Rings so he could always return himself to the battlefield

I had forgotten he has that ability now, so that is true

I still think based on some of what Strange does in IW, I think he'd win (not posting examples cause ya know...spoilers).

After seeing Avengers Infinity War I have to go with Dr. Strange who was performing a number of amazing spells, and he did not seem to be dependant at all on the Eye of Agamotto. Ghost Rider is powerful and a tank, but I just don't see Ghost Rider taking down Dr. Strange.

I didn't say no BFR allowed, I said it won't work here because BOTH combatants can open portals.

They both can dump each other in different dimensions and they both can return from being dumped because they both have that power.

I voted Ghost Rider, since Strange did a lot of cool stuff but it was mostly just flash. He has no way of harming Ghost Rider in the slightest while Ghost Rider could clearly kill Strange in one well placed hit. Strange's only hope would be BFR, but GR can do the same thing so it won't work.

Ghost Rider's powers protect him from non mystical threats, such that non mystical weapons barely harm him.

If there's one character who is capable, more than any other of defeating him, its Strange.

While more physically powerful, but non mystical characters, such as Hulk may struggle with GR all of Strange's attacks and defences are mystical in nature, and he's an expert on fighting beings who draw power from other dimensions.

Strange may have the right spells to imprison or banish the spirit of vengence, leaving Reyes powerless. Strange has mystic shields that would protect hims from GR's attacks, unlike armour or natural toughness - its because Strange doesnt rely on these that he has the best chance to take down GR.

Strange. His powers are seemingly plot devices

I've got to give it to the Ghost Rider; both are powerful, and both can undertake great feats, but Stephen Strange, ultimately, is just a man; he has no self-power of endurance, speed, healing etc and is by default more fragile.

One well placed hit by a Rider could end him, whereas one well placed hit on a Rider wouldn't kill him.

Exactly Ghost Rider's abilities are being greatly undersold here, which I knew they would because of how cool (yet ineffective) Strange looked in IW

Strange with ease, his job is to defend Earth from interdimensional beings such as GR, and I've no doubt Strange would whip up a spell to defeat him quickly.

Dr Strange would also have a quip, as he takes out GR with a mighty spell.

"You're snuffed, *****e bag."

"Light's out, ass hole "

Or something like that.

Ghost Rider is bad ass... but Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme. He went toe to toe with Thanos when he had four Infinity Stones in his possession. Ghost Rider isn't on that level (at least not in the MCU).

After IW, Strange is going to very hard to beat.

After IW, Strange is going to very hard to beat.

Except for Ebony Maw lol he beat his ass quite handily.

Ghost Rider can replicate Maw subduing Strange with those metal concrete fibers with his mystical chain except with Hellfire included.

Yeah I meant by MCU heroes. Him and Thor are the MCU MVPs for now based on feats that we've seen rather than potential (Vision, Scarlet Witch, Hulk).

A few weeks ago this would have been GR by some way. But Strange did great against Thanos. However, he also lost to Ebony Maw in the same movie. I am probably still leaning toward GR but have to think about it a little more.

People forget about the clear cut lost to Ebony Maw, one on one nobody helped Maw.

Strange could just do the duplication spell and attack Ghost Rider with many versions of himself. Ghost Rider has his chain with Hell Fire, but Strange has the Eldritch Whip which is a whip of magic, and with the duplication spell Strange could tie Ghost Rider up so he could barely move. Since the whip is magic I don't think the Hellfire would burn through it, although the Hell Fire has been able to destroy intangable characters, I always felt the Hell Fire attacked the spirit and that it would not be able to do the same against an intangable object. So, in my opinion Strange does Duplication Spell, uses Eldritch Whip attacks from his Duplicate selves, which ties Ghost Rider up so he is unable to move. And given in my opinion that the Hell Fire can not destroy intangable objects (things without a Spirit) , that Ghost Rider is unable to break free of his imprisonment. Meanwhile the real Doctor Strange does a reverse Transmutation and Ghost Rider slowly begins to molecularly disappear from existence.

At least thats how I see it going down.

Yep, Maw beat Strange without much effort in the end. Strange later did well against Thanos, but still ultimately lost. I actually think GR would give Thanos decent fight. So I finally voted GR.

EDIT: why is the poll closed @BigThor?

[BLACKOUT]
Noone was going to not lose to 4 stone Thanos 1 on 1 lol. Hulk, Thor, Loki, Valkyrie, Korg and all the Asgardians didn't put up much of a fight against Thanos, Maw, Obsidian and 2 very nerfed BO members who lost to 3 much weaker characters.[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah I wasn’t expecting expecting Strange [BLACKOUT]to win[/BLACKOUT]. He gave a good showing. But against Maw, once his help went missing, he was taken out pretty easily.
