We will be doing VS. battles for the MCU every week and will be using the Winners and Losers to create an accurate power tier list created by some of it's biggest fans (you). So don't forget to VOTE and after voting for a Winner please include a comment on which power tier, both the Winner and Loser should reside within. Also, see below for more details on the characters abilities as well as for a list of available power tiers to choose from.

Don't forget to put which Tier group you think Thor and Ego The Living Planet belong to in your posts. Also, don't forget I've now added the option of being able to change your vote if you change your mind.

So, without further delay here is this week's match up

EGO THE LIVING PLANET

THOR

- Superhuman Strength: As an Asgardian, specifically the son of Odin, Thor is the third strongest Asgardian of his time, surpassed only by Odin and Hela, and with their deaths, he is now the strongest Asgardian alive. He can lift or move immensely heavy objects effortlessly, such as when he was able to easily catch a falling car with one arm during Battle of Sokovia, saving the family trapped inside it. He can also easily crush extremely durable objects such as Iron Man's gauntlets as if he was crushing a soda can. He also overpowered Iron Man in his Mark VI even despite being empowered by Thor's electricity. During the Contest of Champions, Thor's strength and considerable fighting skill allowed him to compete against and even at times overwhelm the Hulk, capable of staggering the Hulk with his punches alone and sending him flying across the arena with a single hammer blow as well as even restraining him, with Hulk needing to grow angry and surprise him to overpower him. After receiving visions from Odin's spirit, Thor's strength and fighting skill combined with his newfound ability to generate lightning quickly gave Thor to compete against the angered Hulk, generating a shock-wave with his punch that visibly dazed the Hulk. After acquiring his full power, Thor's strength was enhanced to the point that he was able to contend with Hela during their final battle, managing to lift her off her feet and throw her to Valkyrie, fighting her to a standstill alongside ValkyrieHe was also able to easily swing around Rocket Raccoon's Milano escape pod at great speeds, and even hold open the massive forge of a Nidavellir star long enough for Eitri to heat the metal, as well as throw Stormbreaker with enough force that combined with his electrical powers, it was able to slice through a beam from the completed Infinity Gauntlet, and lodge deep into Thanos's chest, as well as cause him great pain upon twisting the axe deeper.

- Superhuman Durability: Thor's skin, muscle, and bone tissue have many times the density of the same tissue in the body of a human being and is nigh-invulnerable, much more so than regular Asgardians to the point that Gamora claimed that Thor's muscles felt as if they were "made of Cotati metal fibers." Thor withstood a 400%-charged repulsor blast from Iron Man and later a blast of Surtur's Twilight Sword flames without any permanent damage. He resisted the direct destruction of the city of Novi Grad followed by one kilometer drop in the sea, and was only momentarily unconscious. Thor notably survived being stabbed with Hela's Necroswords, which easily killed not only the Einhejars with a single hit but also the Warriors Three, who had greater durability than low-tier Asgardian warriors, with no permanent damage. Thor withstood numerous blows to the face from Hulk during the Contest of Champions with minimum damage and was still able to quickly get up with no problem. Thor's durability even allowed him to survive the full force of a re-ignited Nidavellir star, though it leaves his body severely charred and knocks him unconscious and he was close to death and would have died had Stormbreaker not healed him. Thor's physical constitution is so strong he was even remain conscious after having Thanos repeatedly press the force of the Power Stone against his head, which if touched by beings less powerful would instantly obliterate them.

- Stormbreaker: Thor's newly forged maul Stormbreaker is able to focus and hone Thor's powers, acting as a conduit. The weapon, due to being made out of Uru, is nigh-indestructible and able to withstand energy blasts created by the Infinity Stones, even wounding Thanos. The only reason it failed to kill Thanos was because Thor intentionally delayed the killing blow, a catastrophic mistake unrelated to the weapon's abilities. Stormbreaker is able to summon the Bifrost Bridge, even after the bridge's apparent destruction, shown when Thor teleported himself, Rocket Raccoon and Groot to Wakanda instantly. The weapon, like Mjølnir before it, will return to Thor's hand when he opens it and strikes his opponents with massive force.

-
Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite his astounding resistance to injury, it is still possible to injure Thor. However, due to his Asgardian physiology, Thor is able to heal at a rate significiantly faster than a normal human and even much faster than most Asgardians. While fighting Hela, Thor was painfully pierced multiple times by her Necroswords, getting his right eye gouged out in the process, and while Thor was unable to regenerate his eye, he recovered from all of the stabs mere minutes later, despite the Warriors Three all perishing from a single stab from Hela each. After suffering a beating from Thanos and getting burned by the Power Stone, Thor managed to recover rapidly afterwards. Later, Thor survived the full force of a re-ignited Nidavellir star, though it left his body charred and near death, Thor was completely healed after receiving Stormbreaker to harness and amplify his supernatural powers.

- Superhuman Speed: Thor can move at great superhuman speeds. Thor tackled Hulk through the wall of a Helicarrier in a split second, visibly appearing as a blur. He also proves capable of overwhelming the Hulk in hand-to-hand combat during their second fight, able to easily dodge his feral attacks and land his own blows and get a grip on him. In battle, while holding back, he is easily fast enough to contend with the extremely fast Loki in combat and although his adopted brother is capable of outmanuevering him when he is holding back, when Thor unleashed his rage, he was able to easily catch Loki off-guard, disarm him of his sceptre.

-
Superhuman Reflexes: Thor can react and dodge objects traveling at high speeds, with him dodging many of Hulk's blows during the Contest of Champions and he was able to blast away swords thrown by Hela as soon as they were sent sent flying towards him.

- Superhuman Stamina: Thor's advanced musculature is considerably more efficient than that of a human and most other Asgardians. As a result, his muscles produce practically no fatigue toxins during physical activity compared to those of humans and most other members of his race. His virtually inexhaustible stamina enables him to exert himself at peak capacity for an undefined period of time without tiring at all.

- Superhuman Agility: Thor's agility, dexterity, balance, and bodily coordination make him a great warrior for battle. He moves with incredible grace and speed despite his considerable size and body density. He was able to dodge the wing of a jet fighter thrown at him by the Hulk, as well as dodging many of Hulk's hammer and battle-ax blows and outmaneuvering him in their second battle. He can easily keep up with Loki while holding back despite Loki's great agility in both their fights.

- Longevity: Thor, like all other Asgardians, is not truly immortal. It is possible to kill an Asgardian and other beings in the Nine Realms. More accurately, Asgardians are extremely long-lived beings. Thor ages at a pace far slower than a normal human, as he claims to be 1,500 years old, since like Loki, he was born shortly before the last great war between the Asgardians and the Frost Giants.

- Weather Manipulation: Thor was born with the power to control weather storms, with it being the reason he is called the "God of Thunder". Even before Thor unlocked his powers, he still displayed a level of control over weather, able to manipulate parts of it, although his focus always seemed to be somewhere else so whenever events of him displaying this power occurred his mind was elsewhere. Among them was when he was able to keep rain from touching Jane Foster as a downpour occurred as well as when he began to generate sparks of lightning from his hands after becoming furious. He began to unlock the full potential of his abilities during his encounter with Hela, and is now able to generate rather large storm clouds and create thunder.

- Electricity Manipulation: Thor was born with the ability to generate, control and project electrical energy, with him thus being dubbed the "God of Thunder". Following Odin's death and visions from his father's spirit, Thor finally fully unlocked his electrical powers and his powers over lightning are enhanced to the point where he could generate incredible amounts of electrical energy from his own body and summon thunder and lightning from the sky, all without the use of Mjølnir. Thor's generated lightning bolts grew so powerful that he was able to easily send an enraged Hulk flying back and visibly stun him for a time and even temporarily stun and knock down Hela herself with a single respective blast. Thor was even able to cast a lightning bolt powerful enough to destroy a portion of the Rainbow Bridge that Hela was standing on to ultimately send her crashing down into the water beneath. The greatest display of his electricity manipulation is when Thor charges Stormbreaker and throws it at Thanos. The charged weapon proved powerful enough to quickly slice through a beam fired from the completed Infinity Gauntlet and grievously injure Thanos in a single strike, with Thanos himself saying that Thor may have been able to kill him had he aimed for the head.

- Flight: One of Thor's new abilities that he discovered after losing Mjølnir was how he was able to hover, glide, and fly through the air at great speeds without any outside help. He was able to grab onto the Hulk and lift him several feet in the air while they were fighting in the Contest of Champions. He also was able to hover across the Rainbow Bridge multiple times during his final encounter with his sister Hela. He was able to launch himself into the air from the Asgardian palace to the middle of the Bifrost within moments. During the Battle of Wakanda, Thor flew easily while using the Stormbreaker to destroy the ships of the Outriders and later while attacking Thanos.

- Teleportation: After Thor gained his new devastating weapon, Stormbreaker, he was able to teleport at will, due to gaining the ability to manipulate the Bifrost Bridge. As a result, Thor instantly teleported himself, Rocket Raccoon and Groot to Wakanda, in order to aid his allies in battle against Thanos and the Black Order.

EGO THE LIVING PLANET

- Immortality: Ego, like his race, was immortal and ancient. While giving Star-Lord, Gamora and Drax a tour of his planet, he stated that he was millions of years old. He can only be truly killed if his true form, his brain, is destroyed.

- Superhuman Strength: As a Celestial, Ego's physical strength is at immense superhuman levels. He was able to casually crush Quill's Walkman Headset in his hand, as well as smash through stones and propel his son across the vast underground center of his planet during their fight. It is also said by the*Collector*that these beings have such incalculable strength, that they can allegedly wield the*Infinity Stones.

- Superhuman Durability: In addition to his powerful strength, Ego also has superhuman durability which makes him almost impervious to physical attacks. His avatars are also superhumanly durable. He was able to withstand his son's Celestial powers and attacks and crashing through rock at bullet-like speed. He was also able to stand outside of his ship in the vacuum of space unfazed.

- Molecular Manipulation:Ego is able to manipulate matter to a molecular level thanks to his Celestial powers. While giving Star-Lord, Drax and Gamora a tour of his planet, he stated that it took him millions of years to master this ability.

- Planetary Form: Ego was able to use his molecular manipulation to create a shell around himself, which after millions of years, he later evolved into a planet. He can manipulate the planet on a molecular level. His brain is stored in the center of his planet's core, while his energy form could traverse the planet and use matter it manipulated to make itself physically manifest. While directly possessing the planet, he could more seamlessly manipulate and reshape its structure, such as to cause the ground to trap members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, no matter where they were.

- Energy Manipulation: Ego essentially descibes his powers as "light". In particular, this is a blue, fiery light that he could shape and transform into physical constructs. He once projected radiance beams from his fingers that are able to unlock handcuffs. He even taught his son, Peter Quill, how to manipulate light.

- Biological Manipulation: Ego has also shown to be able to create and manipulate biological matter, including his own living avatars, which he creates to experience what it is like to be human.

- Health Manipulation: Ego created a tumor inside Meredith Quill's brain in order to kill her.

- Avatar Creation: In order to interact with the intelligent lifeforms that populates the universe, Ego created for himself an humanoid avatar who reflected his idea of a biological humanoid being. His avatar is an extension of his own consciousness and is provided with a digestive system, pain receptors and a reproductive system, as Ego explained to Drax that he "does indeed have a penis". However, it requires periodic returns to his main body to regenerate in the light of his planet to continue functioning.

If thor know ego weakspot thor will surely win otherwise can't say ..

I’ll give this one to Ego. This isn’t easy for Thor since Ego is a “living planet”. The probabilities of Thor pulling a win are lower than him being defeated.

Starlord beat Ego due to a unique connection between them, and he had LOTS of help. Thor would not be so lucky.

Close one.

Thor has the firepower to destroy Ego's core and the strength/durability/flight to defeat Ego's avatars and fight his way to it. Hell, according to the first Thor film the bifrost can destroy planets and Thor can summon it now.

If Thor doesn't know to destroy the core then I'm sure Ego would wear him down eventually though.

Honestly, I don't think this fight is close. I think Ego curb stomps Thor. No one is putting Ego to sleep here temporarily to give Thor a chance. There isn't an entire team diverting his attention. This is 1 on 1, and I think he gets smoked fairly easily.

I agree with this. If Thor knows about the core as Ego's vulnerable point then with Stormbreaker he has enough firepower to probably reach the core and destroy it - maybe Celestial anatomy was also an elective at school on Asgard ( like Groot). In the process he's going to take a pounding but Thor is a lot tougher than he used to be.

However, without that key bit of knowledge Ego might eventually overwhelm him - also Ego blew up an entire Sovereign fleet with an energy blast in GOTG vol 2.

Even if he knows about it, how is Thor going to distract Ego long enough to make a killing attack? In Vol 2, there was chaos going on all around Ego. This would be a fight where Thor has Ego's entire focus. He literally is fighting a planet. I think people are underestimating just how hard that would be, or are overestimating how strong Thor is.

Ego. I think Thor has been depowered enough from the comics to where it's not as close as it is in the comics.

Thor is powerful, but he is not a celestial. Ego is a celestial.

Does being a Celestial actually mean much in the MCU though?

Ego's best strength/power feats are less impressive than Thor's and his avatars weren't that durable. I don't think he could stop Thor getting to the core.

Ego can create anything from Nothing, Thor can only create Lightning from Nothing. Thor is very Powerful, but I don't think he is quite at a world buster status. I think without Mantis putting him to sleep, without him holding back a little because Peter was part of him, without the chaos of a lot of things happening at once, I think Thor would have little chance. I mean Ego could create a million of his Avatars and if Thor Destroys 1 he can replace them with 3 more. He could create a Vibranium Shield 100 ft thick around his Brain to prevent Thor from getting through. Ego was a Victim of his desire to connect with his son, his overtrust in Mantis and so much happening that by the time he realized he was in trouble it was too late. So basically he would not have any of these 3 issues with Thor and if he is going all out it's game over.

At least thats how I see it.

Almost every MCU character's less powerful than the comic version, Ego's not an exception.

Ego can manipulate matter and light but his abilities have limits. We never see him make anything more durable than rock, never mind Vibranium.

Thor is very Powerful, but I don't think he is quite at a world buster status.
Agreed. But Ego doesn't have the same durability as an ordinary planet. He has a hollow core with a convenient weak spot.

I mean Ego could create a million of his Avatars and if Thor Destroys 1 he can replace them with 3 more.
What makes you think he can do that?

We only ever see Ego create one avatar at a time, and even then it seems to take him 30 seconds or so to create one.

Ego is able to transform himself into a planet and can control matter that all around him. So yes, being a Celestial does matter

If Ego can create an Avatar that is a high functioning life form that is essentially an extension of himself from nothing, then creating Vibranium should be no problem, as the human body is significantly more complicated to make then a type of Metal like Vibranium. And while I agree it did take Ego several Moments to regenerate his Avatar the couple times it was destroyed, I mostly feel it took time to reconstruct due to the complexity of restoring the human form, but I still feel like he could have created multiple Avatars at once if he wanted, just as his Avatar was not limitted to one look either. I am not saying his power is limitless, but I just think Ego's Matter Manipulation is to much power for Thor to handle.

Ego

Ego would never let Thor get anywhere close to his core and would wear him down eventually. Was tempted to vote for Thor just to bump him up into the Cosmic Tier.

Thor for me.

From everything I have seen Stormbreaker do I tend to think it would be enough to stop Ego.

He can manipulate some elements but that's no proof he has the power and/or the skill to manipulate all of them.

If he could casually create Vibranium (or even just real life super strong materials like kevlar or diamond) then why didn't he ever do that in GotG2?

Instead, he fought using rock and surrounded his core with rock. It seems likely that's because it's the strongest material he can easily make.

And while I agree it did take Ego several Moments to regenerate his Avatar the couple times it was destroyed, I mostly feel it took time to reconstruct due to the complexity of restoring the human form, but I still feel like he could have created multiple Avatars at once if he wanted, just as his Avatar was not limited to one look either.

Again, if he had the skill to create and control multiple avatars at once I'm pretty sure we would've seen him do it in GotG2. Instead, what we saw was a close fight between Star Lord and one Ego Avatar.

If Ego could create a second avatar (never mind millions) then Star Lord restraining just one of those avatars wouldn't have prevented Ego from disarming the bomb about to kill him.

it took him years to be that I believe

Doesn't matter if it took him a day, a month, a year, a million years, etc. He's still able to do it. Length doesn't devalue that one bit.

Ego is able to transform himself into a planet and can control matter that all around him. So yes, being a Celestial does matter

My point was that Ego calling himself a Celestial doesn't actually prove anything. This isn't the comics and there isn't a heap of established lore about what Celestials are capable of so we can only go by Ego's feats.

Doesn't matter if it took him a day, a month, a year, a million years, etc. He's still able to do it. Length doesn't devalue that one bit.

Of course it does.

In a fight with Thor being able to throw around billions of tons of rock instantly would be a huge advantage for Ego. Being able to manipulate billions of tons over millions of years wouldn't be that helpful.

Only the power Ego's able to bring to bear during the fight is relevant.

Ego can manipulate his entire landscape. Are we forgetting that he made a giant plateau and was burying people left and right with sand, rocks, etc. all at the same time? He can do these things at a mere thought quickly. The fact it took him years to craft himself into a planet means nothing. The Ego of today can blow up an armada of ships in a second with a thought. It's not going to take Ego ten billion years to make a mountain out of nothing. He already can do that, and showed that ability in the movie.

As for the lore on celestials "You mean a celestial, like a god?" Even without exact context of what a celestial can do, we know they can wield infinity stones and not die and are considered effectively to be gods. Thor is a god as well, but he is the god of thunder. Show me that Thor can make a mountain by thinking about it in 2 seconds? I didn't think so. Not only that but Ego can manipulate his own weather patterns. Wind and such. Temperature. Thor is not fighting one enemy, everything around him is an enemy. I think you guys are discounting this.

Every thing ego created can be destroyed if thor can destroy faster than ego can create there is a possibility and also Thors bifrost could do high damage
