It does open the door for lesser Spidey characters to show up on Agents of SHIELD.

Agreed. I think the Prowler/Hobie Brown would be really cool to see, and he'd be doable on a TV budget.

Yeah, please keep him away from being an active Avengers member.

Also, Inhumans after the IW movies = this guy for Avengers 5?

Those delays are all less than a year. If stuff was getting pushed back 18 months or more I might find reason to agonize but a few months? meh.

Spidey would be a perfect ally for these four heroes:

Because I don't see those four being the only four heroes in the Defenders mini-series.

What I hope happens (or doesn't happen) regarding Spidey:

1) No Miles Morales. It would be a crime to wait all this time to get Spidey in the MCU and not get Peter Parker.

2) Reboot TIH style. No origin, but still have a Spidey that's very early on in his career. He's only been Spider-Man for a few weeks/months.

3) Start him out as a 16 year old in high school. I know some of you dislike going that direction (again), but that's just the best option there is for the nature of the MCU. If we want to tell these stories long term, they're going to have to cast as young as possible. Especially since Spider-Man is the epitome of the evolving superhero. He's all about growth, and we deserve to see that growth from beginning till his full adulthood.

4) Outside of cameos or teamups, no immediate Avenger membership or mentoring from the Avengers/Fury like in the Ultimate comics and TV show. What made Spider-Man such a revolutionary hero is that he had no mentor. He was given the title of "man" in an era where every superhero his age was considered a boy. He had to learn responsibility by himself; had to face the same challenges as Tony and Steve without half their age or experience, and his perseverance and intellect is what got him through. It was for that reason why Cap was so impressed by him in the comics when he found out just how young he was, to the point him and Tony got in Jameson's face and asked him to stop the bashing.

5) That being said, I welcome constant interaction between Spidey and the Avengers. The Avengers should be the heroism Spidey strives for, similar to the FF's role in the Lee/Ditko era. The down-on-luck underdog status is only strengthened by there being a group "bigger" than him.

6) No major role in Civil War. Too early IMO.

You know, this Spidey thing might be exactly what Marvel needs to keep Evans, Hemsworth and RDJ. They could get a legit break post IW, and then come back refreshed and recharged.

Soon my babies. Soon you will all be together and you will all come home!

Don't count of seeing Wolverine anytime soon. Unlike Sony, Fox has ZERO incentive to give up any control over the X-Men.

Killed it! :applaud That's exactly how Marvel Studios ought to (and I believe will) handle Spidey.

That has me excited. Maybe give us a taste of the new Spidey on these Netflix shows first? It would be interesting if you could see Spidey and his world at least in the background of the Netflix shows. Newspaper covers, cable news clips, ect. or just people talking about Spidey fighting some baddie while Cage is getting a cup of coffee.

How soon? Fox is not going to share the X-Men unless they get the Xmas spirit and decide to share the profits with Marvel. The only reason Sony made the deal is because they're desperate, when Fox gets there, then it will happen, but it could take many years, time will tell I guess.

Maybe not now, but soon!

No, X-Men usualy work better on their oun universe, now, the Fantastic Four's a whole different thing, i can see that going back to Marvel soon, and they work better in the MCU than in the Foxverse.

So... Are we just going to FTD these flowers to Kim Jong Un, or are we hoping Rodman can get them over to him?

Yeah, Spidey could be the character who takes up prominence in the early days of the new post-IW phase. If they've got a major new character like that they'll have the flexibility to give the old big guns a phase long rest if they want it and introduce new smaller characters around Spidey. And I'd love to see veteran Cap and Thor played by an older Evans and Hemsworth if they come back.

Watch straight through or skip to 5:08 mark. [YT]NBYKwkrqL18[/YT]

Sorcery!!! :wow:

I'm salivating at the awesome Masters of Evil lineup we can have now.

Norman Osborn (Financial Backer)
Baron Zemo (Leader)
Klaw
Absorbing Man
Dr Octopus
Moonstone
Abomination
Whirlwind

shocker

I agree!

So, I woke up a few hours ago and read the news (that of course had to be announced in the midle of the night while I was asleep). I'm not sure what to think about it.
http://marvel.com/news/movies/24065/marvel_studios_schedules_new_release_dates_for_4_films

So Marvel Studios is pushing four films back one spot in their line up for Phase 3 (Avengers: IW 1+2 are unaffected). With the Spidey news it's very obvious that the July 2017 spot will be available for a Spidey solo movie.

Thoughts?
This worries me. Wouldn't it be easier for Sony to change THEIR schedule. I was fine with the MS schedule as it was and I'm not sure I like that especially the BP movie is pushed back 8 month only to make place for another Spidey movie

I bet the MCU Hater Brigade is spittin mad over this.
I sure hope so.

Spider-Man in the MCU=Awesome.
The other more interesting films with new characters getting delayed because of him=Disappointing.
this in a nutshell

Yeah, please keep him away from being an active Avengers member.
yep. that's what I fear most, now that the deal is done. Spidey as an Avengers member. It didn't work in Bendisvengers for me (ok, NOTHING worked in Bendisvengers for me, it just was one of the worst Avengers runs in the history of the Avengers) and the way the group works in the MCU, Spidey would fit in it even less

So... Are we just going to FTD these flowers to Kim Jong Un, or are we hoping Rodman can get them over to him?
I'll send him a Katy Perry CD

My reaction to all this news when I woke up.
