MCU X-Men - Part 2

No, the dynamic between Xavier and Magneto works because they were friends. It's just as powerful if Erik is old enough to be Xavier's dad.
Heck, it's downright Shakespearean, which the "one is MLK, the other is Malcolm X" pitch doesn't capture.
I’ve always imagined Xavier and Magneto being around the same age.

IDA. That fundamentally changes things a lot more than Magneto being 60. Him being a Holocaust survivor is just background info that fleshes out his motivation. He and Xavier being on the same level is an actual driving force of story. He’s not a father figure or mentor to Xavier and shouldn’t be.

You can't be Erik Lehnsherr or Max Eisenhardt unless you're German or Ashkenazi. And if you change his name and backstory, the whole film is no longer faithful to the comics.

I think Xavier and Magneto being contemporaries is more important than Magneto's "real name" which wasn't even established until the character had already been around for decades.

Not to mention he wasn’t created with the holocaust origin in mind(in X-Men #1 he’s just a typical megalomaniacal villain; later writers fleshed out his backstory to have him be a holocaust survivor).

He also wasn't as good when he was introduced relative to when was given the added complexity.

Understandable, since their original actors were born a year apart. It's hard to tell what Jack Kirby and Chris Claremont's intent was: a bald man in a wheelchair codes as elderly, but I don't think his age was made clear.

How widely-known is it that Magneto was originally a megalomaniac who wasn't given a real name?
General audiences have been growing up for 18 years with a Magneto who gets called "Erik" more often than he's called his supervillain name, and whose childhood in the Holocaust has been depicted in half the blockbuster films and a cartoon (X-Men Evolution). Taking that away from him and saying "Well actually, he didn't have an origin or real name until 15 years after his first comic" would be a hard sell.

He didn't have a real name for thirtysomething years, but I see your point.

Regardless of how they cast him, exactly how does his age prevnt him from being called Erik? Its a name. Whether he is 40, 60, 80 or 100, he can still be called Erik in the film

And you just highlighted why they dont need to delve into his backstory. If you feel its generally well known, they can gloss over it with vague references, much like they did with Spider-man

Ok, so Kevin Feige recently revealed that there will be more LGBTQ+ representation on the MCU. He said it'll come from both characters already introduced (probably Valkery) and characters yet to be introduced.

I was certain that there would be more representation of POC in the MCU mutant universe, but my main concern was with LGBTs. Now I have hope to see a gay Bobby, and finally Raven too.

Except Raven is not gay. That would be character derailment. She's made babies with Sabretooth and Azazel. She doesn't just live a sterile life with Irene Adler.

Are you trolling? Raven is a card carrying member of LGBTQ community. Thats canon within the books. It may not have been touched upon in the Foxverse but there is a chance for it to happen in the MCU

And how would it be character derailment for a character that has yet to be created in this universe? Its not like it would be something tacked onto her after several years and films worth of no history or evidence of it. The MCU Mystique will be a blank slate

... no I'm not trolling. If MCU Mystique is exclusively homosexual, that would change her established family relationships. Like, who would Nightcrawler's parents be? Why not be just faithful to the comics on this?

I suggest you reread the post you responded to bc no one ever said Raven should be only a lesbian. Lip mentioned LGBT and she is canonically bisexual. She is sexually fluid and has been involved with both male and female genders. Saying she isn’t would be less accurate to the comics

FYI, lesbians can have children you know. Being one would pre want her from being Nightcrawler’s mother

"Now I have hope to see a gay Bobby, and finally Raven too."
Bisexual is not gay, so "finally gay Raven too" would wipe out her major relationships with Sabretooth, Christian Wagner and Azazel, leaving only Irene Adler. That's what I was disagreeing with.

so you only chosen to take from that post what you wanted and ignored the previous sentence which provided context?

And another FYI, a bisexual can be classified as gay. These are just terms that a person may or may not want to identify with but they all fall under a similar banner

It'd be gutsy of Feige if MCU X-Men makes Mystique & Destiny Nightcrawler's bio parents the way Claremont intended.

I hope Fiege doesn’t pair Storm with T’challa. That was always one of the most lamest thing from the comics partly because it felt so obligatory.

That was always dumb and thank god it never came into fruition

Think about the drama bro.

Little Nightcrawler comes out with a tail and looking demonic, Mystique/Destiny realizes they made a mistake, he gets dumped to the circus. They start over again with Rogue and then when they all reconnect again, it's a big ass family brawl.

It'd be a mutant episode of the Young & the Restless.

T'Challa is an old man and Storm should be no more than 15 when Avengers 4 ends. The general audience would bot like it.

They're currently one of the best couple in the MU. I hope it translates onscreen.

and thats pretty much what happened in the books without Mystique being the father. Thats totally unnecesary

Since when is a man in his 30s considered to be old?

30s isn't old. 42-43 is old, which is how old Boseman will be in BP2 (born November 1977).

I just want them to get in a habit of calling her Ororo in the MCU instead of Storm all the time.

And we gotta see her and T'Challa unite onscreen. It's too iconic not to do.
