MCU X-Men - Part 2

Well I don't want to see the o5 start as supporting Captain America characters or Iron Man's sidekick. They should do what they did with Thor, Cap A, Cap M, Iron, Hulk, Dr., Ant and Gotg. Start in their own film. The only ones that needs the eXposure in starting in other MCU films are the other Fantastic Four and that's because the last F4 film from Fox bombed. Also Civil War is a rare thing, it was almost an Avenger film and Spidey needed the goodwill after tasm2.

First being teens and then hiding. Mutants don't have to be a huge group right off the bat. There can be some here and there and recently the numbers have grown and finally they're exposed.

I can think of quite a few Ms./Captain Marvel story arcs that I'd like to see adapted before the one where she loses her powers and her memories and is sent into a coma.

And I'm saying this as someone who's really impatient to finally see Rogue done right on the big screen.

You know what would work neatly? If the Sentinels were Stark Industries police robots Pepper decided they should sell after she becomes Rescue. They only attack mutants because they violate a federal law passed after the Sentinels are in the field. Oops.

Black Widow has a script and they've interviewed 65 directors, which makes it most likely to be the 2020 non-sequel.
That means Eternals, which has hired writers who haven't written its script yet, is their current plan for 2021.
If Disney isn't stopped by Comcast or the federal government, they'll have the rights by the end of next summer. Whatever they have on the docket for 2022 will have barely gotten started, making it easy to shelve in favor of X-Men or Fantastic Four.

But why would they shelve those properties? Once the rights revert they belong to Marvel. There's no reason to rush or change plans. They can make money off of their currently planned movies, and then in a few years the X-men and Fantastic Four can be bought out to keep interest in the MCU going.

Y'know, they got Vision without having to introduce Wonder Man. The writers could probably find a way to get Rogue her flying brick powers without having her fight Carol.

Have you read the first appearance of the Sentinels? Bolivar Trask was an anthropology professor who also happened to be able to create a robot factory with a primitive AI. Making him a project director at a robotics corporation makes more sense. While said corp doesn't have to be Stark or Hammer, it should at least exist.

Rogue's power absorbing leaving the person touched catatonic is pretty core, though. Anyone who watched the FOX cartoon or first two FOX movies had it pounded into their head. "lol I get your power but you still have it all too" would be a big change.

The logic is that the MCU does not currently *need* the X-men. They know they can make plenty of money off of more obscure franchises, so why not get through the ones which are already planned before doing the X-men and F4?

I know that from a fan perspective you guys all want the X-men in the MCU as quickly as possible, but business wise it makes sense to hold fire. The X-men franchise is a little tired and worn out, and the F4 even more so. Those properties will become more profitable a few years out when they've had a rest and there is more general interest in seeing a reinterpretation. Leaving the X-men for a bit lets other franchises like BP, Doctor Strange, Spiderman and Captain Marvel breathe. And thirdly, the MCU is stronger than it's ever been. With Marvel finding success in those more obscure characters why bring out the big guns now? The X-men add little to the MCU right now, but in 5 or 6 years they could be the extra piece of fuel on the fire that keeps the MCU going for the next twenty years.

I am quite confident that we won't be seeing an MCU X-men feature for another 5 years. But what they will do before that is retool currently in development films to include mutants. Black Panther is a perfect place to introduce Storm; Captain Marvel 2 could include Rogue and Mystique; A potential Captain Britain film might be retooled as Excalibur; the Eternals may delve into the origins of the X-gene.

Yes I don't think we get X-Men in the MCU until 2022 or 2023 as a rebooted franchise under the Feige era

There's no need, but Marvel and Disney like money. Back before Marvel Studios became a de novo subsidiary, Marvel Entertainment was so desperate to have X-Men that they changed the Inhumans from a small Lost World of Kirby people to a worldwide phenomenon feared by the normies in a metaphor for bigotry.
It's a judgement call whether the real X-Men handled by Marvel Studios would make more than Black Panther (whose socially relevant themes resonated much less overseas, making just over 50% domestically instead of ~33%), or less because BP was so fresh and the X-Men have been in the mass media since the early '90s, but either way I think they see them as much more lucrative than a franchise like "one white kid in New York gets the powers of a cosmic cop" (Nova).

Oh it will be huge but there's still value in keeping variety in the slate in scale and sticking to a well thought out plan rather than just hitting the audience with event film after event film and having less up your sleeve for later. If Marvel get the X-Men rights I'm confident X-Men will become huge and starting a year or 2 later won't make a difference in the long run. That said, of course I want to see them as soon as possible, but my urge for them to totally nail it this time is much stronger than the urge to see it earlier.

It's pretty much the same problem the franchise faced before the first movie. Back to square one.

Nope. The X-Men isn't even the same as Star Wars.

Possibly, but I don't think TLJ got a mixed fan reception just due to differing preferences. There were better ways of handling Luke that could have pleased more people IMO. What happened was more like what happened to Cyclops in X3. Even non-Cyclops fans didn't really want that, it wasn't just Cyclops fans and traditionalists who thought that was a miss. There will be a fair number of areas where you can't please everybody for sure, but the 2 above are examples of where they could have done a better job of pleasing more people.

There will be some nitpicking and maybe stronger complaints but most fans will have modest expectations given they know it's difficult to try to adapt from so much material (plus trying to modernize things).

That'd work, if she's severely weakened for three years (or whatever that translates to in-universe as the MCU stops running in real time). Because if power-draining is very temp, there's a logical problem of why everyone with superpowers doesn't let Rogue kiss them in a Wakandan hospital so she can have all the powers ever to help with the next Thanos.

Because if power-draining is very temp, there's a logical problem of why everyone with superpowers doesn't let Rogue kiss them in a Wakandan hospital so she can have all the powers ever to help with the next Thanos.

You can make up science mumbo jumbo like that it has to do with Carol's power source and how it merged with Rogue's mutant DNA. Thus it wouldn't work that way for everyone.
