No cards, no chips, no X, no ZX, no battle network ninja dragon or wasp....it's a true sequel to the original series! I couldn't be happier! :D

I'm a huge fan of Mega Man, and I'm ALL for the return of 2D games, but actually using sprites from 20 years ago is pretty ****ing lame.

I understand they're trying to be "retro" and "old school" or whatever, and I can appreciate that to a certain extent, but they've really missed an opportunity to do something cool similar to Pacman: Championship Edition. Same gameplay with 2D graphics, but with a hell of a lot more style.

^^^IA. Why cant they just continue from where Mega Man and Bass left off?

Thank you Geo....why so much negativity.

I actually welcome his classic style. I grew up on the Mega Man series on the NES, and I love they way they play..even today.

I think this is Capcom finally actively wanting to please the fans that grew up with the series.

I applaud them highly for it. I have been wanting a new classic Mega Man game for years.

Hey, I grew up playing Mega Man, too. If you read my post, you'll see that I'm a fan. You'll also see that I support the classic style of gameplay. I just take issue with the fact that they're reusing graphics from two decades ago. That doesn't even make sense in the context of the visual progression of the series. At the very minimum the game should look similar to Mega Man 8. That's the least they could have done.

I think this is Capcom actively wanting to make a quick buck and nothing more. They say they're using this style to please the fans, but in reality they're using it because it's the fastest and cheapest option that will give them the biggest payoff.

If they truly cared about their fans they would have gone all out and really used the power that the current generation of consoles have to make a truly exceptional 2D game. Can you imagine how bright and colorful such a game would be? Or just how smooth and fluid the animation could be? Or how...and so forth and so on...you get the idea.

You and me both. But this obviously wasn't what I had in mind.:down

All I've got to say is bleh. We've waited over a decade only to return to the year 1988?! This is just pure lazyness on Capcoms part and shows they don't really care about the orginal series. Call me a graphic ****e if you want I don't care. Its not just the graphics but also the fact that we're getting the same ancient game play engine. This means no wall hug. That was a godsend in the X series.

Meh, to each his own.

To me the only classic Mega Man games worth any merit were those on the NES... 1-6. 7 & 8 were not that great.

They are comparing this one to MM2 in terms of difficulty and fun...so I couldn't be happier. Mega Man is returning home, and I'll be one fan welcoming back.

It will be released on PSN and Live Arcade as well.

From what I've read it will LOOK like an NES game but it will play better (even though the old MegaMan games STILL play good) they can do a LOT more with sprites now then they could in '88.

This will rock.

Mega Man 9: WiiWare ONLY - False alarm. Please, go ahead and disregard this morning's post regarding Mega Man 9 being available for the PSN and XBLA. Capcom have since removed those listings from their E3 lineup (calling it "a mistake"), and have confirmed the game will only be appearing on the Wii.

That was debunked, it's Wiiware only.

If that holds up to be true....that's ******ed.

I don't even have my Wii hooked up...and I won't be doing it for this game. :-\

I thought Megaman 8 was great as was Megaman and Bass. I didnt really care for MM7

M&B was unoffically Mega Man 9 for me, at least until news of this thread came out

wait...so I wont be back?

Dammit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you from the X series?

I'd sort of prefer Mega Man Legends 3. That series had so much damn potential.

Yeah, I really want to see a resolution to MML2's ending :cmad: .

I disagree with that article. Mega Man 5 is not souless. It's easily my favorite of the NES games. The levels were amazingly well made.
