Megan Fox (Transformers) is teaming with Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody on a comedic supernatural thriller titled Jennifer's Body.

Fox Atomic pre-emptively picked up the Cody spec last week with Fox in negotiations to star. Mason Novick is on board to produce.

The story, described as similar in tone to Heathers and Beetlejuice, follows a cheerleader with a perfect life who becomes the girl from hell when she gets possessed and begins killing boys in a small town. Her best friend must then find a way to stop her.

Atomic is aiming to make the project before a possible writers strike.

Heh:woot: I hope she plays the killer cheerleader and not the best friend, this sounds fun and Juno looks great, so i have some interest in this director.

I actually liked the idea of Jennifer's Body, but it needed a different director, and more dedication to the horror and gore elements. And I liked Megan Fox in it, especially when she first came back from the dead all crazed and s**t.

Show me a bad horror movie and I'll show you a horror fan who'll defend it.

Yes Jennifer's Body was a bit horror light for my tastes also.

This movie wasn't terrible but there were things about it that just felt... off. I remember the soundtrack being really awkward and annoying. There was this scene where they played this loud thrashing rock music as the camera just panned over an empty football field and nothing happened. It was like they were just contractually obligated to include a song by some band there. Might be a weird complaint, but there were several moments like that in the movie that stuck out to me.

Loved Amanda Seyfried in it though. And this was the one time I thought Megan Fox actually did a good job in a film.

Looks like she's back to her lifeless old self in Ninja Turtles though. :(

I agree with you about Amanda in this, she was the primary reason I saw Jennifer's Body.
I actually liked it overall, it wasn't a great movie, but it was better than the reviews and boxoffice indicate.

I have it in my list of borderline guilty pleasures with movies like Deep Rising.:woot:

I am not a fan of Megan Fox, but she was tolerable in the film. For me, the strengths were with Seyfried, the music, and Cody's terrific dialogue/plotting/literary devices.

Yeah, it was overall a fun movie. Plus I always had a thing for Diablo Cody, so I'll give anything she writes a chance. Young Adult was really good.

Is this starting to be appreciated, at long last?

Apparently a lot of queer women had a sexual awakening watching this movie so I’m hoping the sequel (if it happens) leans into that element even more than the first one did.
