Supergirl Melissa Benoist IS Supergirl/Kara

Why ? This is a thread to discuss the lead actress.

 

She got a super smile, for sure.

 

She's certainly Super-Cute! That's the quality I hoped she'd have. I didn't like Smallville's take where they tried to make her all uber sexy.

 

Pretty good casting, I'm really looking forward to seeing just how this show turns out.

 

She's already apparently dyed her hair blonde, and it looks nice.

 

Smallville based their version off of the newly reintroduced Kara who had a chip on her shoulder.

 

I don't remember her having a chip on her shoulder until the New 52 tbh

 

Her early portrayals when they brought the character back post-crisis were HORRIBLE! They made the New 52 version (which I personally don't mind much, and the current creative team is great) look genius by comparison. She was so unlikeable that they later had to retcon her behavior as the result of being poisoned with Kryptonite. Sterling Gates was the one who truly made me love Kara.

 

I liked what I've read of her in the New 52 but the point was about her having a chip on her shoulder which she has in the New 52.

When they brought her back in the Superman Batman series I thought she was great personally.

When she got her solo series, she had a problem with everyone she ran into at the beginning. But I personally loved her pre-52 series, the beginning was good for me, the middle was meh, the ending with Gates was good. But of course when she was getting a good supporting cast of characters, it all gets wiped away.

the only thing I've ever seen Benoist in was Glee, so I don't want to judge her acting skills based on that, but that being said, the girl can sing! i have her version of Chasing Pavements and New York State of Mind on my ipod playlist

 

Which one is her on the second song? The one who sings first or second?

Maybe she'll do some singing on Supergirl? She should sing while she's flying.

Thanks for the videos. She is a really good singer. If Supergirl has a soundtrack, she could probably sing a few songs for the show. I'm sure there will be scenes each week with a piece of music playing in the background, so why not get her to record them? It could be even more promotion for the series if there's an accompanying album.

 

She is a good choice .

 

If she's going to sing while she flies the song better be Defying Gravity.
