Warning Spoilers!!!

I may have missed this in the movie, but what was Luthor's motive
in killing Mercy Graves?
. She played the part really well as Luthor's right hand woman.
Too bad they killed her off

Also, why was Senator Finch so afraid of Lex?
Did I hear Lex call Finch, "Mother" at one point?

what did Finch's jar say before the whole place was blown to pieces?

Thanks in advance.

Plenty of related threads to post these questions in -- You don't need to create a new, separate thread for each question you have.

I briefly searched and didn't find the answers. Didn't want to scroll through a ton of pages to find it. Sorry if lazy and don't want to waste 30 minutes finding the answer, but would greatly help if someone can answer.

Not sure on the first part beside probably just being a pawn in his game of chess. To the second part it was that grandmother pee jar.

To answer: Killing her shows his ruthlessness and also gives an apt allaby for him that he was locked out of the room. If both were locked out it looks super guilty for him.
Senator Finch realised that Lex could get to her when she saw the jar, that he wasn't just all bluff and that he was capable of getting to a senator whenever he wanted

Mercy being a casualty just shows how much of a sick bastard Lex is. You could see by one or two looks she gave him that she was besotted by her boss, but in the end she was just a pawn to Lex. He probably didn't let her in on the plan because he wanted the situation to seem authentic as possible.

As for why Finch was afraid of Lex in that moment, I think she realised in that moment how much of a weirdo and how dangerous Lex was. She was smart enough to call BS on Lex's war mongering, so she probably knew something was seriously wrong when she saw the jar of piss and Lex's absence. She knew in that moment he was sick enough to do anything.

I was so pissed at how Mercy was used. I was expecting her to get a good fight scene against someone and all she is is just a prop to help add some diversity.

I think she might have a deleted scene. I'm okay with it though. Classic Lex.

Yeah the wife and I have been discussing Mercy. Honestly, I expected nothing from Mercy, not even a fight scene. Mercy never did become a huge character like Harley Quinn, even though she was created in a similar vein. And she never made a huge impact in the comics. Honestly, you could do a history of Superman and his characters without even mentioning her, I'm sorry.
Though I do like my wife's idea. Mercy comes back! How? Simple, she's just a robot and Lex has a whole bunch of them. Same time she really liked Young Justice so maybe that's where she got the idea.

And that's exactly why I was pleased to hear that Okamoto would be playing Mercy in this film. I thought to to myself, here's a chance to make something more of the character and maybe even put her on equal footing with Harley Quinn in regards to the wide gulf in popularity between them. And it really irritated me how they just
killed her in an explosion.
What was the point of even calling her Mercy Graves? Might as well just have been another faceless mook. Was it yet another attempt at pissing off a small section of the fanbase like with how they immediately killed off Jimmy Olsen? Some really odd choices with this film. I've said it before, but I'm surprised that Okamoto and Hunter were as involved in the promotion of this film as much as they were. They're both in like two or three scenes, all of which consist of them just making flirty eyes at Luthor, and then
they die. What a pointless waste
.

It was a stroke of genius from Snyder, [BLACKOUT]you see her name is Mercy, she's his assistant, and Lex killed her as a message to show that from now on he has NO MERCY.[/BLACKOUT]

It was very clever but you really need a greater understanding of films to get this.

This was a criminal waste of Mercy. We'll never get to see her wrestle with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn now.

That'd be genius if it had any impact on the audience.

None whatsoever.

I think he sacrificed her because it gave him an alibi in many ways. People wouldn't question him killing his assistant.

I actually don't mind that she was only used in a small role, there's only gonna be so many films with these characters so they can't reuse them all.

If you're a Mercy fan, great, good for you. But again, she's just not that central. You getting upset over versus hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands of people if the same thing happened to a Harley Quinn is not the same thing, since she's not that beloved of a character. Don't forget they killed off Dr. Hamilton like nothing. Personally, I like they are using non-powered, lesser known supporting characters from the comics like these but yeah, shouldn't kill them off. Not to say I want Alfred for example to die, but it'd provide alot more impact compared to a I dunno Jack Ryder death or something. But maybe that's the point. Comic fans know these lesser characters but we don't value them as much as other characters, meanwhile the GA doesn't know them so they don't value them at all.
