Well, if they adapt the early games (which would be a huge mistake if they didn't), then Snake would be a younger guy. The first Metal Gear game was his first mission.

Okay, that's completly understandable, but most folks are talking about MGS here.

I know Bean's getting up there in age, but I think an older Snake works towards making him the hardened vet that he is. It's kinda hard to beleive somone as young as Bana has seen all the things that Snake has seen. In the game it works, in a movie, I think making him older would be a good idea.

Depends on which storyline they're going with. Snake started out as a newbie who managed to take down Big Boss on his first real mission. If they start off with Solid, then I'd prefer Snake to be around the same age as Bale when he started Batman begins. Old enough to look like an adult and have a little or alot of battle experience, but young enough to appeal to various demographs and look good for sequels, as well as flashbacks if they decide to show a little of Snake's past. Besides, you don't need to be a grandpa to look like you've seen things and been places. There are teenage soldiers in 3rd world countries who have steely gazes and look like they've seen hell.

Johanssan is too soft looking, it would be hard accepting her in that role, despite the fact that she is nice to look at.

too soft looking?

nothing a lil' wardrobe, hair, and makeup can't fix. not to mention, any chick who lands the role (if a movie is even being made) will have to go through training anyway...

Yeah, but that's only my opinion. Maybe it's just because I haven't been impressed by anything she's done, but I can't see her as the lone commando type. Her boobs are nice though, I think that's something we all can agree on. :)

Switching topics, how do you guys think they should handle the over-the-top, mystical aspects of MGS? First of all, I think it needs to be made clear that it's set in the near future, ALA the X-men films, to help explain the advance in technology and "special" abilites of some of the characters, and also the change in Presidency, etc. The mystical elements should be kept, because that's a huge part of what makes MGS MGS and not Splinter Cell or 24. It's sort of a modern day fantasy swashbuckler, but instead of magic and gods and monsters, it's psychic powers, politics and weapons of mass destruction. But when you whittle all of that away, there is alot of human drama and character development in MGS as well, like Otacon's love for Sniper Wolf, Snake/Meryl's relationship, etc etc. That's what makes MGS so awesome, even if Kojima does tend to overdo it with the codecs and symbolism....

i guess i can understand, but i've been impressed with her. not only because she's gorgeous and has nice boobs (we can DEFINITELY agree on that) but because she seems to have a lot of versatility to her. i can see her playing almost any role of a young female.

as far as the mystical/fantasy aspects...i loved how Metal Gear Solid handled that. Metal Gear Solid is probably my favorite of the recent MG's and one of the reasons is that it's not unbelievable. MGS2 was kinda corny to me because out of nowhere we had a vampire that could run on water and dodge bullets.

back when Metal Gear Solid was FIRST being released in 98, there was an article in EGM showing how the fantastical elements in MGS weren't as much of a fantasy as we thought. here we are on the verge of camoflouge, just like the ninja's and there HAVE been tests by the government with telepathy and telekinesis....which is why i was able to dig MGS. none of the ideas in MGS were over-the-top (save for Ninja....but he was just too damn cool to NOT have).

so....if they make a Metal Gear movie, i'd hope they go back to that way. i WOULD like to see some mystical stuff, but not to the point where i go "where the hell did THAT come from?"

I've been thinking, they could do it like Advent children? Of course it would be long ass movies.

I'm strongly advocating for this option of bringing about a mg movie ala AC.

The whole point of a movie is that it is live action - seeing the characters brought to life by real people. Why make a CG movie when the games are basically a big CG movie anyway?

that's your opinion...some people would just like to see their characters brought to film EXACTLY the way they are in the video games instead of an actor PLAYING the character.

either way....as long as Uwe Boll and the like stay far away from the movie, i'll like it.

Yeah, that's called playing the videogame.

When people say they want a movie, they want real people. What you're talking about is a cartoon.

The reason that Advent Children works is because Final Fantasy is very anime in nature anyway.

Plus, it's a very expensive process. It wouldn't be a long movie if they made Metal Gear that way.

No, MGS isn't suited very well as a series. It's like a spy/action/espionage movie.

Yeah, she does. But Biel's is better:

I'd rather see a Solid movie done in the style of Advent Children than a live action movie. Something made direct for DVD made in-house by the game producers.

Yeah, but then its just a non-playable MGS. Metal Gear is the closest we've come to interactive cinema. Outside of live action, I just don't see the point.

Yeah, go edit out the gameplay sequences from MGS and watch that. There's your CG movie.

yes...but there's a huge difference between watching the polygon demos from PS2 and Xbox on your tv or computer compared to watching photo realistic CGI on the bigscreen...

...i, myself, would rather see a live action as well, but i also can DEFINITELY see why people would want a big budget CGI movie. each way has it's strengths and weaknesses.

Dorky. Perhaps I wasn't clear.

When I said I have a picture that you could manip, I really meant I have a picture that you will manip :o.
