Despite this game/movie being hard to find due to a small release. I thankfully found one at my EB and I'm glad I did.

I love the first MGS game, I dunno why, but the story has always been a favorite of mine. And it's nice to have it in this form. The art is very expressionistic, but the best part about the DGN is how they integrated animation and sound into the comic. It works so well. The boss fights are short but sweet, and when Budda-Budda starts flooding the screen as the Hind-D fires at Snake, it's awesome :)

I hope they do this for MGS2 once that series is done being put into comic form.

The basic story is the same, some small elements are different, I suppose for length reasons and keeping up the pace

The story is pretty much exactly the same up until the torture scene, then it slowly changes a few things.
-The psycho mantis fight is slightly extended, more mind games.
-Grey Fox interrupts the torture sequence
-The whole card changing thing occurs in the control room, no running back and forth
-Grey Fox does not lose an arm and get squished, he is trapped under the foot of Metal Gear, and tells snake to blow it up. Snake hesitates, but does so.
-Liquid and Solid fight, but Liquid is impaled instead of falling off Metal Gear
-No car chase, but Liquid still comes back at the end
-Both Meryl and Otacon live in the end
There may be a few more I cant remember.

All in all, nothing that drastically changes anything. Some make it better, while others can be questioned as to why it happened.

But it is still overall a really great experience. The best MGS story, told in a decent lengthed comic/movie.

what's the gist behind this?

it looks great and sounds good, but why get it just for a nice recap?

If you like the story, and you like the artwork of the comic, that's all there is to it. Yes it is just a re-telling of the game, but alot of time was put into making the graphic novel, and even more time was put into making it come alive.

And it's only 20 bucks, making it cheaper than the books themselves.

There's also a memory matrix mode where you find clues/memories hidden within each page/panel, and you piece them together in a big graph like web. It ends up being an encyclopedia of everything Shadow Moses.

I'd say it's no different than buying a movie based off of the game.

Wait. This is available in book form?

Also, how does Solid Snake beat Psycho Mantis in the DGN?

Yeah, has been for awhile now. They took the book images and animated them. A comic series of MGS2 is being published now too

After Meryl is down, Mantis tries to get into Snakes mind, but before he can Master Miller breaks in and shoots him down. Than Snake and Miller make their way to the Metal Gear terminal where they are trying to figure out how to stop it. Than Ocelot and Liquid come in, Meryl in hostage tow, and demand to be told the codes. Miller wants Snake to give them the codes, but Snake refuses. Than, Snake noticing that Ocelot has two hands, turns and shoots Miller. Revealing that it was all a mind trick by Mantis. Than Psycho tries a few more attempts at mind control, but snake over powers it and shoots him down.

Are the same people that did the MGS Graphic Novel doing the MGS2 one?

woooooooooow!

that is awesome.

Some of us UK fans have to wait for this... again... yes we're still waiting for Subsistance, yes MGA2 took 2 extra months to come out over here... when is this gonna come out I wonder? 2008?

Despite all of this, NOTHING pisses me off as much as the Portable OPS European release date of September... 2007!!! and the US is getting it in Winter :(

You do know that PSP video games are Region Free, right? You can just import it whenever you want.

Meryl and Otacon both live in the end of the Metal Gear Solid video game (the Meryl ending), that's not really a spoiler.

I haven't beaten the game in awhile, but I don't remember
both of them riding off into the sunset on back of the snowmobile, with snake.
Maybe they did and I just don't remember

In the Meryl ending, Otacon decides to stay in the base, even though it means he'll die... but the bombings never actually happen, so he survives
