MetroCon 2007: A Smallville Convention

I'm posting this for Tabby since new members can't start threads. She runs the AllisonMack site and is planning a SV con.

Okay, I'm getting the stuff set up to start our blitz-planning of metrocon2007.

If you're wondering what that is, its basically the Smallville Convention in the US set for May 2007. I'm getting it all set up to post the basic information on it and should have it posted by tonight (after I make gingerbread cookies...priorities!)

I'm gonna need a lot of help planning it because its only six months away, so I'm opening the planning up to what I'm calling "Board Members" which, save the obvious definition, will be selected members from each message board that will represent that board in the planning, etc.

Is there anyone here willing to be apart of the Board Member group for this?

I am also inviting everyone to come snoop around as we do the initial planning for the first month or two, and in January, all planning and stuff will be opened up publically. So its kinda like having stock in the convention, only what you own is your ideas.

Did I spin that positive enough?

Anyway, please feel free to nominate yourselves for the Board Member person (um...maybe I should rethink that name since there's no way I want that shortened to BM).

Avid actually lives in the area though, so I think we need to hear from her if she's interested first.
I'd love to attend the con, but I'm not sure I'll be able to yet. I'm looking forward to hearing more details though.

smallville is ending (this season or the next one),this would be my chance to see the actors.
i have been dreaming about that like forever.
but we don`t even know if they will gonna be there.

its the centre of all things TV and showbiz i presume- its the same kind of principal as my london post.

yeah,they always edit thier scenes there and all the big bosses are also there.

Yup that's exactly it. The pre-production team is out here. The CW is out here. Everything that would make it cheaper for *you all* is out here. So the convention is out here.

Any reason why they picked L.A.?

Highlander filmed in Vancouver too, and their one BIG con that was supported by TPTB was in LA also. It really increases the chances of getting more guest of honor (GOH's) without spending a zillion dollars of the money on flying them all over the country. And it's nice to have access to production people and the like for support appearances at Q&As.
