Sounds like an update to Jan Hammer's Crockett's theme to me.

In the TV series the Crockett character was the main guy, yet I see on posters that Jaime Foxx's name is before Farrel's, and the trailers don't really give a clue as to what's it about.

Trailer didn't blow me away, but it didn't have to. It's Mann, doing the Miami Vice on the big screen. As long as the trailer isn't ridiculous ash, odds are the movie will be damn fine. Having Foxx and Farrell doesn't hurt either. Some crap movies from both of them, but when they go with good material, they deliver pretty well.

Were it being directed by anyone but its initial creator, then yes, I believe it would suck, as even an A-list director wouldn't know the characters as well as Mann himself does.

jamie was a minor character in that movie, it was filmed before he got the oscar

In fact, the reason Jamie's role in Stealth was small was because he got the lead in Ray. He had to leave filming early. His character was supposed to do more.
