Michael Bay Producing "Dora The Explorer" Movie

paramount pictures’ new paramount players division and writer/director nick stoller (the muppets, neighbors) are making a live-action film about dora the explorer, according to thr. Stoller will write the script for the film. Dora the explorer will be produced by michael bay and his platinum dunes partners andrew form and brad fuller.

Dora the explorer first launched on nickelodeon in the year 2000 and aired over 170 episodes before ultimately concluding in 2015. The educational series followed the titular dora and her monkey friend boots going on interactive adventures with the audience. It was nominated for seven daytime emmy awards, winning in 2011.

There was a film version of the nickelodeon animated series in the works back in 2015 with paramount. Tom wheeler (puss in boots) was writing the script and mary parent was producing.

The reported twist in the details (though things are being kept under wraps, according to the site) would be that this would be live-action and will center around dora as a teenager, “who moves to the city to live with her cousin diego.” in the series, dora is a seven-year old. The film is looking at a 2019 release. No word on whether or not we’ll see dora’s talking purple backpack, swiper the fox, or her well-dressed monkey companion boots.

Stoller is known for his work directing the 2008 comedy forgetting sarah marshall and the 2010 spin-off get him to the greek. He wrote and directed five year engagement, storks and the tv series friends from college. He directed neighbors and the sequel neighbors 2: Sorority rising. He co-wrote and executive produced the muppets and muppets most wanted.

Maybe it could work in a "child's imagination" kinda way. There was a film a while back that did a similar thing.

The adventure might not be as big and explosive in the real world but through Dora's eyes its an explosive spectacle.

Tbh I have no idea about Dora apart from the fact she's an explorer and its a kids educational show?

This was my first thought as well

I can picture Bay turning this into Tomb Raider with a attractive scantily clad twenty something playing a teenager, a bunch of dumb juvenile jokes and ethnic stereotyping.
