I never expected him to ape anything with this, but I don't know what would be wrong with reviving Shirley Walker's BTAS theme. It is the perfect Batman theme and can easily be adapted to many different interpretations.

Also, unlike the old Spider-Man song, it is not ubiquitous in pop culture. Beside hardcore Batman fans, I doubt anyone would recognize it, which is a damned shame. Shirley Walker deserves more recognition and credit. The poor woman wasn't even acknowledged in the Academy In Memoriam reel the year she died due to "time constraints", despite being the most successful and prolific female film composer to that time.

This may be blasphemy but I never quite could tell the difference between the Elfman theme and the Shirley Walker one, unless we're talking the Mask of the Phantasm one.

It's hardly even a sample of the music, but I will refrain judgment until we hear the whole thing.

Like I said, Giacchino's superhero work has largely been uninspired.

The best Spider-Man MCU music was in the Marvel Studios logo for Homecoming and the trailer for Far From Home.

I was not floored instantly, but it is sure catchy imo. Simplicity, and talent is always efficient.

I just realised what makes me adore this score so much, other than the similarities to Shirley Walker's work.

It sounds, to me, like the perfect amalgamation of this, arguably one of my favourite movie scores of all time, especially in the buildup

    and this, bar the choir

I don't dislike his MCU music as most people here but he definitely wasn't Alan Silvestri(love his MCU work). Perhaps Batman or the film motivated him to shine again or something

Michael Giacchino himself shared this on Twitter. I’m still floored. But here’s the YouTube link in case anyone missed it.

The MOTP theme is the Shirley Walker BTAS theme with a choral arrangement. The Elfman theme was used for the opening title sequence, but outside of On Leather Wings, it was never used in the actual scoring of the series as Batman's theme or leitmotif. That was always Walker's theme and this is a wonderful commentary by her on on its composition:

EDIT, here are some wonderful compilations showing its different uses and versions throughout the series:

Basically, if you watch the behind the scenes documentaries on the blu-ray, I get the impression that they used the Elfman theme for the opening credits before they realized what Shirley had to offer and she actually one-upped Elfman, which is why her theme replaced his in the season 2 opening credits and is used for the Batman-Superman hour opening credits.

I don’t give a **** if filming is only a quarter of the way through and scoring hasn’t even begun, I was to hear his Riddler theme.

I'm just waiting to read his hilariously pun-filled track titles.

Unbreakable low-key has my favourite music of any superhero film. David's theme stirs the soul the same way the classic Superman theme does. Something about it just perfectly, beautifully conveys heroism.

Might be my favorite Batman theme. I can easily imagine this leitmotif swelling into something epic and grand

I love the theme it's got a great build of darkness that is simple yet has room to grow into a very heroic theme similar to Danny Elfman March to Batman.

I wonder how long Reeves and Giacchino where cooking up the Something in the Way remix, because I'll be damned if Something in the Way main riff isn't Giacchino's Batman theme moodly played a few steps down.

The music in the trailer was disgustingly perfect. Like I just ate an entire gallon of chocolate ice cream.

Someone got insider access to just the music channel of the trailer, so may as well be "official" until a soundtrack comes along:

Interestingly, Reeves confirmed it's not a cover.
