Mignola on HB2/Animated - SPOILERISH!!!!!

I cant watch video's on this computer, can you post what he said?

the whole interview :

REPORTER : Guillermo [Del Toro] says he sees you about every day.
MIGNOLA : Pretty much.
REPORTER : We really need an update on Hellboy 2 - The Golden Army...
MIGNOLA : We've been in pre-production for about a month and a half. It looks great and actually we're about ready to go to the next stage of whatever... post-pre-production. [smiles]
REPORTER : So how did it change now that it's not at Sony/Revolution but at Universal?
MIGNOLA : Not that much different, really. Right now, it's uhm... for me, I don't deal with the studios at all, I just deal with Guillermo. So in that respect, it's exactly like working on the first picture.
REPORTER : How much grander is Hellboy 2 gonna be?
MIGNOLA : It's about twice the size of the first film. It's huge. Epic.
REPORTER : Guillermo gave us a little bit of insight earlier today. He explained it has to do with the fantasy world, being... that there's gonna be some fighting between reality and the fantasy world?
MIGNOLA : I don't know if I'd say "reality" and the fantasy world, but it's the kind of old world, folklore characters, like faeries and elves and all that old mythology stuff that's kind of gotten shoved out to the corners, you know, out of the shopping malls and moved these guys into the shadows. And it's, what if those guys decided to not go quietly but kinda take the world back. It's kinda like if the American Indians had a nuclear weapon and said "You know, we could go, or we could use the bomb".
REPORTER : So I'm hearing that Abe Sapien is gonna have a bit more to do the second time around?
MIGNOLA : It is a bigger role for Abe than in the first one.
REPORTER : A love interest?
MIGNOLA : For Abe? A little bit of that... Curious.
REPORTER : Is there another amphibean creature out there??
MIGNOLA : I don't wanna say. It's not quite human, but it's not clearly amphibean.
REPORTER : Something I've actually enjoyed is Doug [Jones] voicing Abe Sapien in the animated series and it looks like hopefully he'll be voicing him in the feature film?
MIGNOLA : That certainly seems to be a possibility, yeah.
REPORTER : How happy are you with the animated versions of your creations?
MIGNOLA : I'm happy. I've seen the first animated film and I've seen a little bit of the second one and I'm really happy. I think the second one is better than the first one, and we're talking about doing a third one, which will be that much better.
REPORTER : What's next for Mike?
MIGNOLA : I've got a novel coming out next year...
REPORTER : From Dark Horse?
MIGNOLA : Uh, no. From Bantum Books, fall of 2007... And just a lot more comics.

^Thanks very much Riven, thats a good read and i appreciate your efforts.

Great find thanks so much!

I am huge Mike Mignola fan and have had the chance to speak with him at a couple of conventions. It is nice to see Abe become so poular and getting a little love in the movie (as in screen time).

I remember speaking to Mike about how much I enjoyed reading Abe Sapien: Drums of the Dead and he stopped me dead, looked me right in the eye and said... "so you are the other guy who bought an issue of that."

I was floored. I guess it did not do too well but I reassured him that I liked the story and the character enough to buy the Abe Sapien bust and that it was proudly displayed right along side my Hellboy bust in my home.

Mike Mignola and Guillermo del Toro have been a magical combination. I hope they keep it up in one form or another for a long time. :hellboy:
