Damn, I mean, paying out the ass for nearly worthless college degrees and entering a horrible job market while older politicians wrack up enormous debt on senior entitlements & stimulus bills meant to solve others mistakes, which will not be paid off until said seniors are long dead? So, here is a **** ton of debt from other people and degrees old politicians made worthless, and now here is a horrible job market- best of luck!

Truly feel sorry for them....never even had a chance. They will be the true lost generation.

Or,

We successfully transition to clean, abundant energy and the monetary system becomes obsolete, we settle Mars becoming an inter-planetary species, advances in computer technology and medicine extend our lives and capabilities in ways which would blow our minds, quality of life for every human is excellent, etc etc. All of which would make millennials the luckiest generation of human beings there ever was.

Excel is correct, at least right now.

End could be correct eventually, which would be interesting indeed.

I think you're selling us Millennials short. Yes we're inheriting a not so favorable job and economic market but we have far more resources, knowledge bases and potential that far outweighs what a lot of older generations had when they were in similar situations.

It's going to take some time, but I believe we really will correct some of the BS that's been going on politically and socially in this country and the world.

The average consumer debt for Canadians is $30,000. Most of that comes from student loans. That means that before they even enter the workforce, students are in debt, past the point where they could realistically pay it off. And the jobs that they get straight out of school are low-paying because they don't have any experience. In Edmonton, Alberta, for instance, a $35,000/year job won't support you. Rent and food are too high in price and with debt to pay off, it leaves no disposable income whatsoever. The least amount someone can live off of in this city (and in other major cities across the country), is $40,000 at best (if they live on their own). But, if you want to be in your late 20s living at home, then it's just fine.

the millenials have no leaders. their leader, o, has turned out to be their biggest villain.

one could argue the millenials are reaping what they sough, because they dont vote. the selfishness of the baby boomers by and large knows no bounds, but if the millenials cant find the courage to rise up and vote for different policy makers, they deserve what they get.

well, no, they dont deserve entitlements for irresponsible elderly folks to charged to their credit card.

So who are they going to vote for? Even if all of them gang up and vote the Libertarian party, it's not like they will make a difference

If that happened, it would make a difference. Not that we'd see a Libertarian president, but like the Tea Party, it would at least force one or both of the established powers to change their focus.

It probably would also turn the tides so the Republicans win, not sure that is a good thing no matter what Millennials think of Obama

Honestly, this is more personal responsibility. You can't expect to go through four years of college, graduate then get a nice job with absolutely no experience. Company's don't even hire people without degrees that don't have any sort of experience.

Not to mention, what do you expect when you go to college with a degree like Art, History, Philosophy or whatnot then don't back it up with any work experience. Who the hell is going to hire you?

If the millenials can make the Republicans focus on economic issues instead of social issues, that's a win. It sucks that people who are pro-choice or don't equate homosexuality to bestiality have one party to support by default. That's not healthy for democracy.

Tea Partiers won't even win mainstream elections.

Someone who stands for freedom and equality every where, for sustainable policies both environmentally and economically, etc. could probably do OK. The problem these guys is all the $$$ is tied in the extreme interests and money wins elections.

Barring some extreme grass roots campaign, that will be the way it remains until the millenials have enough money of their own.

I agree that there are useless degrees. However, it's much harder to get experience during school than you would think. For one, you could only get part-time work and for another, it would have to be something relevant in your field (which is not easy to do). Plus, you have to find something that will pay decently well (ie., no volunteer work) so you can afford to, you know, eat and stuff. When I was in school, I worked the job that fit easiest into my schedule and payed me well. I went through 4 years of school, 5 classes every semester (including labs), and had a part time job. Do you have any idea how hard that is to do in and of itself? Trying to find a job that was relevant to my degree AND paid well AND fit into my schedule would have been almost impossible.

This happens every few decades.

Those entering the job market during the Great Depression were screwed.

Those entering the job market during the Stagflation of the 70's were screwed.

Every time we cycle into an economic downturn, it's going to hurt. But then we swing back up and everything is cheery and endless possibilities and it'll never be bad again...until we cycle back around.

You are preaching to the choir, my friend. I've been in college since late 2011 for every semester (even though summer) while working 40/hour a week internships (all paid) all in my field of study. Thank gosh, I'm graduating next week.

It's hard, but it can be done if you really want to receive a good payoff in the end.

Or get really really really lucky. It has less to do with skill and education than knowing the right people.

How will the Tea Party fix the economy?

Tax cuts for the rich while slashing social programs?

Dat trickle down effect.

If you do nothing and put your head in the sand their will be no problems at all(at least ones you can see or hear), I think that's the Tea Party philosophy

Well, I'm not going to argue with that. Many of my internships I got was because I knew or met people from previous internship experiences.

Networking is a vital job skill. Honestly, it should be it's own required college course if I had any say.

There's a reason that the different schools within colleges host networking parties/opportunities.

And if a student isn't going, they're only hurting themselves.

I think you hit on something wiegeabo. I have now gone through almost 3 decades of teaching so I have seen a couple of generations of teachers. The teachers we are hiring today have no concept of work. NONE....they want everything handed to them, they have no desire to use their own creativity, use their own ideas...it is all about, what can you give them. I've seen it more and more, and I think that is something you are seeing when those have no desire to put the leather to the street and REALLY look for a job.

I've been living with my girl and now a daughter for years with 10-15 k in Montreal. Millennials will do fine when they decide to stop feeding this institutions that do nothing for them, obsolete formation, slave jobs and BS democracy, they just need to stop.

How is that even possible? 15k a year, even before taxes, is only $1250 a month. You're telling me that you found a place to live for 3 people, a way to get around the city, food for all of you, and clothes for a little over a thousand bucks a month? I doubt it.
