Isn’t this the same director directing the live-action “your name.” remake?
‘Cause, even though I’m still a little cautious of that film being made, if the quality of this film is any indication from the trailer, I’d say he’s a very good get. He seems very good at capturing natural beauty. His dialogue, the directing of the actors and their interactions remind me of Shinkai’s work and how the characters in his films play off of each other. The tone and emotion is also very similar. And, when watching all of the snippets of the grandma and grandson in nature, I can’t help but be reminded of all of the scenes of the grandma in “your name.”
Maybe it’s just me, but, if he’s directing, I have a bit more hope that it might turn out good.
