Mission: Impossible 3

It was a fast paced story with a mostly new supporting cast. How could the film really explore the characters? Establish who's good and bad - fight for the prize - get your reward. It's like an action video game.

These are brand new characters. I'd like to maybe see them outside of IMF, what are they doing in their spare time. I'd like to get to know them and care about them more.

Tom Cruise is the only one who gets these scenes.

What the hell's up with M:I:III and its jumpy release date? First I think May 3rd, then May 6th, and I thought Friday was May 6th but it's really May 5th and... my sense of time is all funking buggered up. :(

FYI, there's an MI:3 special on SpikeTV right now.

The TV special was almost masterbatory in its cheerleading for Tom Cruise.

We get it Tom Cruise, you are awesome and you aren't gay.

That's because it's his personal life that's threatened. It's less of a team movie. We don't even see much of Lawrence Fishburne being anything other than a hard-ass big wig.

The Laides at the NY premiere (Mentok i haven't seen it yet:) )

It didn't explore the IMF team at all. They just had a bit more presence than the last 2.

Unless it involves Cruise they didn't really do jack. Meyers and Maggie Q are good, but they are simply one dimensional characters given virtually no development.

As for the action scenes, I'd say Abrams seems like he's graduated from the school of Michael Bay.

I guess what I meant by that was we actually saw some things this time around - the IMF office, what they use for their cover, etc, etc. It was a fun film, JJ did well for his first time directing............

Nice avvy. One of the few shots where I can sense emotion from Routh.

Thanks - I think he'll be good.............courtesy of Hunter of course....

MI should die. I lost my interest in it when the original crew died. I like them better than Tom.

Just got back,i absolutely loved it,The central plot was fairly simple about the old theme's of money and power but the emotion and humour and action attached to it made the movie for me
I liked the Ethan/Julia relationship and thought Moynahan made her character very likable so that i cared about what happened to her
All the actors were great and i thought they got just enough personality into each of the team with the Hunt/Luther friendship banter of two old pros really standing out
The set pieces were all stunning ,my favourites being the Chesapeake bay bridge sequence and the Vatican infiltration
The ending was fun despite the team being jettisoned and i thought we saw enough of Hoffman to the point all his scenes drove the story rather than just being there
Far fetched in many places but most Spy movies are and i give this 9/10,one of the most enjoyable movies Ive seen in a while:up: :)

Very enjoyable movie, some cracking drama and excellent action scenes. I love the team aspect of the film and the relationship between the team was good to watch. Must admit I would have like to see more of Maggie Q and Jonathan Rhy Meyers. Monahan is great addition to the cast, the relationship between her and Ethan is believable. Simple storyline but I find it works for some movies because its the journey from A to B is where you add character and action pieces.

It was so good I was watching Ethan Hunt and not Tom Cruise. A great opening scene, gets you into the action from the get go. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was simply evil! A great way to start the summer and a kick start for the blockbusters. Overall 8/10.

Abrams should direct ChiPs. :o

I was disappointed because Davian was playing when he said he wasn't.

Cheap.

But Jim Phelps of the original crew (played by Jon Voight in the first movie) became a traitor. :( Hard to watch the old series without knowing that.

he needed to push Ethan to the limit to know he wasn't lying about the rabbits foot because the container couldn't be opened to check, then Musgrave needed to reveal Julia was still alive to exchange her for the info that Lindsey had left to see if he was exposed, then the plan was that when Ethan got to Julia,Davian would kill her in front of him,not hard to follow man

if your gonna trash it try harder man:(

I'm not trashing it, I was just disappointed they didn't follow through with the intensity of the opening minutes.

Musgrave's being a turncoat was totally predictable. I called it as soon as he came in. His little speech was lame as well.

He tried to follow through but Ethan foiled him as he's the good guy:confused:

And yes as i said it wasn't dificult to guess the story so i agree but i liked his speach,it was simple and got the point over

I didn't much care for Abrams and co. shoving in their liberal political discourse in the final act of the movie.

I honestly think the idea Musgrave is talking about was interesting, it unfortunately lacked any subtlety or complexity.

This is something they did better in the first Mission Impossible. The surprises and the puzzle is done a lot better. That's something I will NOT give to Abrams.
