Action-Adventure Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning/The Final Reckoning

I saw the headline of that article yesterday.
It had me thinking if they filmed the last one & this one back to back?
If there's no sort of shared cost with anything else, then how in the hell did they greenlight that sort of budget?
Especially when the films are making less and less at the Box Office each time.

A. The original plan was to shoot the last two back to back. They didn't, due to covid I guess, but Final Reckoning still started filming a long time before Dead Reckoning was released.

B. The films don't make less and less in the box office. They were literally making more and more up until the last one, that mostly underperformed due to bad release scheduling strategy.

Dead Reckoning 2023
Domestic 172m
WW 571m

Fallout 2018
Domestic 220m
WW 791m

Rogue Nation 2015
Domestic 195m
WW 682m

Ghost Protocol 2011
Domestic 209m
WW 694m

Fallout was a spike.
Domestically & Worldwide they had slightly diminished returns each time.

They have been shooting both films since the very first Covid shut down. It's no wonder the budget spiraled out of control.

I think after Top Gun Maverick became a phenomenon, they were hoping Mission Impossible could hit the billion mark too. I don’t know if Final Reckoning can do it. There seems to be a ceiling.

Lol come on. Rogue Nation and Ghost Protocol made a very similar amount of money, especially worldwide. And if you take out MI:III which clearly had diminished returns, they were keep climbing the box office ladder ever since the first one. Let's at least agree that the franchise was very consistent ever since Ghost Protocol. Dead Reckoning was the exception and for obvious reasons.

I don't know how much Final Reckoning is going to make but like I said the film was shot before the last one was released and there were both covid and strikes delays so it makes sense that the budget went out of control.

Also a reminder that Dead Reckoning got 70 million dollars back from Swiss insurance due to covid losses, so something similar could very much happen with the new one as well.

This looks amazing! :mrk: Even though there were flashbacks to most of the movies, it's intriguing that there's a lot of focus on the Langley infiltration from the first movie, and Krieger's knife. 🤔

The action sequences look incredible as usual, especially the biplane sequence, and the action at whatever that snowbound base is. The shot of Ethan jumping out of the back the cargo plane into the water is spectacular! :wow:

The only thing that worries me is that it looks like The Tom Cruise Show with none of the team work aspect that made 4-6 so good.
Either way, looks like a phenomenal action movie.
