Action-Adventure Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning/The Final Reckoning

I’m more surprised at MI2 being at 57%.

That’s about 50 points too high.

As a fan of this franchise, I really enjoyed this. I think I prefer it to Dead Reckoning, though it may still fall short of Fallout.

I think Gabriel lost a bit of his luster since the last one, but I really enjoyed the other new cast members much more than I did in Pt. I, so that was a nice surprise.

I know everyone loves Philip Seymour Hoffman but I think the series’ best villain was Sean Harris.

A part of me wishes the Syndicate/Apostles had been the villains for these two movies instead.

I didn’t have an issue with Gabriel (or the Entity) but with so many plots, Gabriel got lost in the sauce a little bit in this one. I still liked Esai Morales but he became a bit of a cackling villain by the finale IMO.

But I found an interesting video about the original MI:II pitch and they wanted to Ethan fight AI all the way back to the first sequel.

I’d be interested to see if this franchise has a future. I like the note this ends on, but I certainly wouldn’t oppose another entry—whatever form could take. These movies have been consistently good, especially with McQuarrie but really with all the directors.

Saw this yesterday at the cinema.

Despite some heavy exposition, some weird editing and not much happening in the first 45 mins, the 2nd and 3rd act are absolutely crazy and some of the best set pieces/stunts I've ever seen at a cinema.

The submarine sequence and biplane scenes are insane and true edge of your seat stuff. They are worth the price of admission alone.

I give a huge credit to McQ and Tom for pulling this off.

Not as good as Rogue Nation or Fallout, but I thought it was better than Dead Reckoning. Huge stakes as well and a really good emotional ending.

9/10.

So, Who is going to Thursday shows?
Anybody going to a, MIDNIGHT screening? Or, even, LATER?

I'm going tonight for the 6:30 showing at my local theater to watch it on the highest quality available.

Do some places still do midnight screenings!? I used to love going to midnight screenings. But no place around me does them anymore.
