Action-Adventure Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning/The Final Reckoning

Looks fantastic. Not loving the title but eh who cares at this point. The movie itself looks incredible.

I could see Powell taking this franchise over. I do think studios might be overestimating his star power a bit though. Twisters did okay but it wasn’t huge. Still, I like the guy and he’s definitely a good leading man.

I think Glen is a talented actor, but there's no way he can match Tom Cruise in the IMF films. What's more how will they adjust without Cruise death defying stunts going forward as the highlight set piece, I doubt Glen is up to the challenge to fill that position.

Rewatched Mission Impossible 3 the other day. I still think it's a fantastic entry, and Philip Seymouir Hoffman is just incredible. For me, this was the turning point in the series and while I don't think it's on the level of Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation, or Fallout, I still think it's great.

Great movie, but my one hang-up is why they didn't want to explain what the Rabbit's Foot was and how exactly it worked (aka why should we care why PSH wants it). It's implied at one point to be some kind of chemical/biological weapon, but the movie never goes further than that!

Yeah, that always bugged me too. Abrams seemed to be doing the “secret suitcase” thing from Pulp Fiction but it worked much better in that movie.

Another thing… anyone else think Ethan is going to die in this episode? Because unless that’s a dream sequence of him sinking into arctic waters in a speedo… he ain’t coming back from that.

I doubt they’d put the shot of him dying in the trailer though. And most likely will be revived ala his drowning in Rogue Nation.

I feel like it's a possibility that could very well end up working but it would have felt fresher before long standing franchises like Bond, the MCU and X-Men beat them to the punch with main character deaths.

Yeah, that’s the only thing that makes me think it won’t happen because I doubt they would spoil his death in a trailer. Still, I don’t see how he survives that.

I don’ t think that’s the end. It’s the start.
The girl helping him in those scenes, it’s the girl from the flashbacks in part one!
