The box office opening may not seem all that big comparatively to other blockbusters, but if it has good word of mouth, it could have remarkable staying power as well. However, I guess we shall see.

Let's keep in mind the domestic ceiling for this franchise beforehand was $215 million for M:I2. Granted, that was in 2000, almost 20 years ago. But Ghost Protocol in 2011 only did $209 million. Rogue Nation only did $195 million. The highest worldwide gross is Ghost Protocol with $694.

Cast her as Yelena Belova (Black Widow's more morally shady counterpart/rival) in the upcoming movie?
I doubt it would happen at this point. I don't think she's the type of actor who wants to play roughly the same exact role just in a different franchise. I think that's the problem with fancasting sometimes IMO.

Honestly, I've never really wanted to see a movie spinoff for Mission Impossible until Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust. I felt like she's the first character other than Hunt they could build a story around.

After rewatching Rouge Nation last week I said to myself that Rebecca Ferguson should have been Black Widow. She'd nail it.

yes she would have been awsome as black widow maybe we can get her in a comicbook role down the road

That's because while the film's have created characters that work well as part of an ensemble, she's the first one that could probably stand on her own outside of interacting with Ethan and co.

Rebecca talked about this in one of the press tour interviews, and she said she found it hard to see anyone replacing Tom Cruise as the Mission movies are centered around set pieces where Ethan performs incredible feats that Cruise does for real, that is how the last 3 in particular have been marketed, and you are unlikely to find and actress or actor that will ever take the stunt aspect even close to the level he has, getting insured for it is a problem for starters. Personally I think Rebecca would make an awesome Selina Kyle/Catwoman if the character is used in Reeves trilogy.

Just came out of this, REALLY well done movie. Very tense and thrilling. I think I like Rogue Nation better and MAYBE Mi:3 ( Phillip Seymour Hoffman was an incredibly menacing villain and the climax was intense af) but this one really pulled out a lot of stops.

I'm not QUITE sure I agree with the "one of the best action movies of the decade!" praise I'm hearing from all over the place. A lot of the set pieces were very well crafted but I dont know i'd put them as all time greats. I dont know, i have to see it again and digest. PLUS I am an action movie aficionado and admittedly I'm hard to impress. John Wick 2 and The Raid 2 were the last movies to really impress me and leave me breathless with their action scenes and thats currently the bar I have set which really isnt a fair bar admittedly.

Other nitpick, i expected a little more out of Henry Cavill. He was good in it but i dont think McQuarrie got everything out of him that he couldve. I was expecting him to end up being a REAL menacing badass villain from what I was hearing but he didnt really measure up to that.

All in all, this is still easily one of best blockbusters of the year. This franchise does get bigger and better with each installment.

Also one other thing, the score for this movie is :hmr::hmr::hmr::hmr::hmr:

It felt very Dark Knight Hans Zimmer-y in places and I mean that in the best way possible. In this day and age where so many composers sleepwalk through these kinds of movies its so refreshing to actually hear a score that stands out and shows actual effort on the composer's end. The score was so intense and adrenalizing and really amplified the action onscreen.

@chrismcquarrie I have one question .just one !where is the clash scene between helicopter and the truck ?

There was just too much action.

It could go. So it went.

Story first. Spectacle second.

Thank for watching.

I mean really. The movie stretches suspension of disbelief a lot. But there's no way Ethan Hunt would reasonably survive that type of impact without pulling a huge rabbit out of his behind. Dude's not Captain America, Thor, or Hulk at the end of the day.

This (Fallout) when the dust settles, will have done at the best at the box office, I am certain about that.

Just saw it again. Firmly say I loved it and it’s the top of the list for movies this year so far.

But you have no problem believing those other fictitious characters because the comics say they have super powers? :whatever:

Once again suspension of disbelief. Cap has powers because of the serum. Thor is an inter-dimensional alien. Hulk is a gamma irradiated monster who is nigh invulnerable. They set up rules and stories to work all those things out.

Ethan Hunt is a pretty insanely skilled and competent dude, but he doesn't have superpowers.

On a scale of 1 to 10 for Ethan Hunt risk I'd rank that a five.

He's survived much worse. Just look at how many times he rolled around in the copter when it crashed and then when it got wedged between a rock wall

He survived this and then limped away

I was thinking McQuarrie with Uncharted.
I suggested this like a year or two ago, but I'm over it now. It's crystal clear to me that Sony has no interest in doing a faithful Uncharted movie adaptation. So I'd rather see McQuarrie on another franchise where he's not set up to fail.

It's a shame that EON is so western phobic about hiring directors from the United States. McQuarrie would do an amazing Bond movie(which he already has with Mission Impossible)

Eh, I don't want to see him do more of the same. This series has surpassed Bond for me, anyway. Supes for McQuarrie please. :D

Do you guys want to see the franchise go in a different direction after this, or whenever Cruise can’t go on anymore.

I would be down for having Hunt become the next IMF director, while someone else steps into the main action role, be it Faust or some young recruits. I also would love to see MI period piece movies.

Also, I wouldn’t mind seeing Nyah Hall return for 7 to complicate Ethan’s new relationship. Thandie Newton still looks great on the big screen.

Man I’d love a spin-off with this character, Ferguson is great. Faust is what MGM were trying to do with Jinx in ‘Die Another Day’ all those years ago.

I think when Cruise is done as the stunt man, the series will go dormant for many years before some brave soul tries to reboot with a new star. At this point, Paramount are well aware the Cruise is the reason these are making money, not the brand name. So yeah, they'll probably try to convince him to play the director or something so he can get those butts in seats, but the success of of the reboot will depend entirely on if they still deliver those crazy stunts as well as he did.

Based on his reaction, it seemed like he had a concussion from that impact at least.

Though I'm not sure that is work than a chopper hitting a cargo truck at full speed.
