Cruise is currently the same age that Wilford Brimley was when he starred in "Cocoon."

Booked my tickets for Friday. Can't wait to see Cruise bringing his game again! Recently had a M:I marathon. Had a blast with M:I 3 and GP!

I'm also watching this Friday. I'm gonna watch it in my local Carmike's BigD auditorium.

I can't believe I have to wait 2 weeks for this :waa:

Tom Cruise said they are already talking about MI:6. Cruise sounds like his got at least another 2 Ethan Hunt movies in him. Hard to believe he is 53.

:shock Wow. I had no idea. I'd definitely pay to see Wilford hanging off the side of a jet. LOL.

Me too. Normally I'd drive across town to the TCL Chinese and see it in IMAX, but I can't get off work until noon this Friday (My day starts at 4am) so if I caught the 1pm show there, I wouldn't get out of the theater parking lot until it was pushing 4pm. Have you ever tried to drive from the middle of Hollywood to West LA at around 4pm on a Friday? Take my advice.....don't unless your life is at stake. :cwink:

I'll check out the 1pm show at one of the local Cinemark XD theaters on my side of town; either at Playa Vista or The Howard Hughes Center. The Playa Vista theater has a smaller screen (it's still a BIG @$$ screen), but has a nice little twist that the Howard Hughes Cinemark XD doesn't have; it supports the standard Cinemark Auro 11:1 sound system AND Dolby ATMOS. It's the only theater I know of that has 2 truly separate sound systems. When they built the theater, they did it from the ground up and didn't have to retrofit anything. It makes for a very nice theater. I'm guessing since this is being shown in IMAX that they will be using the ATMOS sound system (that's usually how they do it, but I'll check with the manager on that before I decide where to go). Since I'm a little bit partial to ATMOS (object based audio) that is a point in Playa Vista's favor. It'll come down to price I suppose.

I know I'm kind of a geek about this $#!t, but if I'm going to pay top dollar for a movie, I want to squeeze out the best experience possible. That's why I do those movie theater reviews on my website; so others can do the same.

Anyway, I was sort of "meh" when I first heard about this movie. Now I'm getting psyched about seeing it. Good marketing job by the studio I suppose.

So seeing this tomorrow. Is there some kind of after credit scene? I know its in vogue these day's.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 Aiming to Shoot Next Summer Says Tom Cruise

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation opens this Friday, and while I won’t have my full review up until tomorrow, I’ll say right now that the film is terrific and I definitely want to see the sequel as soon as possible. However, Tom Cruise rarely rushes the films and they usually take 4 – 6 years for each new installment (compare this to other franchises that try to push out a new entry every 2 – 3 years), and there hasn’t been any word yet on Mission: Impossible 6.

But during last night’s The Daily Show, Cruise revealed that they’re currently working on the sixth installment and would like to begin shooting next summer (Cut to the six-minute mark):

If they stick to that schedule, they could conceivably get the next Mission: Impossible film out as early as 2017 depending on the VFX work and where Paramount wants to slot it in the release schedule. That would make it the fastest turnaround yet on a Mission: Impossible movie yet, and I’m wondering if Cruise’s age might have something to do with it. He’s still in amazing shape and doesn’t look anywhere close to his 53 years, but I assume it gets harder with every passing year to do the kind of stunt work these films require. Of course, he could just get a stunt man like every other actor, but that just wouldn’t be the Tom Cruise way.

Assuming they’re on the fast track to get Mission: Impossible 6 made, the question becomes “Who will direct?” When Perri spoke with Cruise on the red carpet at the Rogue Nation world premiere in Vienna, he said he liked working with a different director on each installment, so does this mean Rogue Nation helmer Christopher McQuarrie won’t be coming back? And if not, who would be his replacement? The only similarity between the five directors thus far is that Mission: Impossible was their first big blockbuster. So will Cruise be taking another director to the next level or will he go with someone a little more experienced to accommodate the quick turnaround? Whomever gets the job, he or she will have a very tough act to follow.

WOW, that's fast. I wonder if they already had a solid story for #6 idea going into making this movie? Also, I want Maggie Q, Paula Patton, and Rebecca Ferguson (assuming that she survives this film of course) all to come back. Make it an "all hands on deck" type of situation.

I agree. Pull a fast and furious and bring back everyone from the other movies. Would love to see Kittridge again.

A fast turnaround would be nice for this franchise for once. We waited 3 and a half years for this movie. Last time it was a freaking five year plus break between MI3 and MI4.

Yeah, 1996-2000-2006-2011-2015. I definitely Hope for a shorter wait next time.

Wonder if they'll also "break with tradition" and bring a past director back as well?

Well going off of this movie, we know who it is. However, in each film they had a different one.

Maggie Q's show Stalker was cancelled so she will probably be available.

Paula Patton returning might depend on if her show the Runner is picked up by ABC.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jonathan Rhys Meyers return as well.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is unlikely to return to this franchise ever. He has been suffering from severe substance abuse for years. He is not dependable and causes trouble on nearly every production he works on. The last thing he did was Dracula for NBC and they only hired him under the condition that he agree to not be paid until after he finished filming all of the episodes of the season because NBC was afraid he would spend all his money on booze and miss work. He still managed to get ****faced multiple times and even ended up hospitalized at one point. Apparently this is very common occurrence with him. He caused a lot of trouble during the production of Showtime's The Tudors too. And he has been in rehab at least 6 times in the last ten years.

And here are some pictures that a paparazzi took of him back in May:
