Flickchick you are certainly making me more excited to see the film Saturday.

Just got back, and I friggin' loved it. Finally something other than Mad Max delivers above and beyond expectations this summer.

Cruise was great as always, and between Edge of Tomorrow and this, Chris McQuarrie's becoming my go-to guy for strong female action heroes. Welcome to my radar, Rebecca Ferguson! I had heard about her performance in the White Queen, been meaning to watch it, but now I must because she was awesome in this movie.

And speaking of McQuarrie, I was a fan of his work before, but at this point I think it's safe to say he's one of my faves. Cannot wait to see this again.
Glad you enjoyed it. I'm seeing the movie tomorrow night. Can't wait!

I'm so happy to read all the raves for Rebecca. She's actually what I'm most excited to see.

So glad this movie is getting such great reviews!!!!. Ghost Protocol is easily one of my favorite movies of the last 10 years, so I'm very very interested to see what Tom and company have done next. I'm watching this with my dad in a couple of days. I was gonna go today by myself but I decided to wait for him.

Damn I just got back from Rogue Nation, What a film. I can't believe how much they increased the stakes since Ghost Protocol. Also Rebecca Furguson is easily my favourite female lead in the franchise, She's going to become a huge action star.

Y'all enjoy! :woot:

And kvz5, I don't think you'll be disappointed. McQuarrie wrote a great part for her. There were so many instances where I found myself thinking about what her character would be doing in a typical (read: lesser) blockbuster versus what she ended up doing on screen here instead. It was lovely to be consistently pleasantly surprised like that.

Let me guess, she is going to be on every fan casting list from now on.

After Jack Reacher and Ghost Protocol, I am so ready for this. Will be seeing it tomorrow morning.

Enjoyed the movie very much. Great action sequences with really good camera angles.

Hopefully Rebecca Ferguson will get more big roles like this going forward. She has plenty of acting talent, plus she's smart, gorgeous, and tough. Really liked her work in The White Queen a couple years ago and it seems maybe MI5 can also help her land some good roles in the future.

Really dug this

Rebecca Ferguson was awesome. Hope she stays around the franchise.

Mmmmm....Rebecca Ferguson....I was biting my lips in every scene she was in. :ilv: :ilv: :ilv:

I don't know about you guys but she'd make a great Carol Danvers. Discuss (in the other subsection if you must :oldrazz:)

Having thought about it I'd still rank the first movie as my personal favourite. Something I've not seen replicated in the other MI movies.

What a fun movie. Glad McQuarrie just tried to make the best action film he could. Nothing more, nothing less. I think McQuarrie has really come into his own as a director with this film and hope he tackles even bigger projects. Hell, maybe Singer will recruit him to do an X-Men film or something like Whedon gets Buffy alum.

Rebecca Ferguson stole the show! Kinda reminded me of Thandie Newton's character in MI2, though now that I refresh my memory of MI2, not so much. She was apparently a stunt newbie but man was she convincing. She got to do better things than both Paula Patton and Maggie Q.

I'm thrilled that Pegg got to do more as Benji and it's been great to see him evolve as a character, something that's actually quite rare in this series to be frank. But I'm bummed that Luther and Brandt didn't get as much action. Or Brandt rather, Ving Rhames doesn't seem to like running. I think it would've been cool if each person had a counterpart in the Syndicate though. The anti-IMF angle was kinda undercooked as an idea I think and while focusing on Sean Harris was fine, I think having one on one kinda things would've been really cool.

The action in the first two acts was insane though. The Moroccon motorcycle chase blew John Woo's motorcycle chase in MI2 out of the water. How on earth did McQuarrie film the sequence with a motorcycle going at the speed? Was it sped up or what? I have no idea but damn did it look utterly fantastic. That motorcycle chase sold me on the film in the trailer and it did not disappoint. Props to Cruise on the underwater sequence though and filming that in a single take.

And hell yes to the decision to bring everyone back Fast and Furious style. Cruise, Rhames, Renner, Pegg, Ferguson, Patton and Q. That's a helluva team. Make it a Seven Samurai kinda deal, especially since it's the 6th one of a series.

Dunno if this has been posted but here's McQuarrie narrating that awesome Vienna scene.
