I wonder if this will be even better than Brad Bird's effort. To do such, I guess this will have to have a climax that is equally impressive as its midpoint.

I doubt it reviews nearly as well. While there is not 13 fresh, 1 rotten, the average is a bit low.

So there were no scenes shot in IMAX right? Not like GP?

I was positive it was CG, like 100% positive. Cruise just jumped to the top of the cool ass mofo list yet again. There are dudes in their 20s and 30s acting in the game now that haven't done that.

When I saw that jet takeoff trailer before Ant-Man, I was like "What the frell? Are you frelling kidding me?" I still kind of didn't believe it after I saw it, but I'll tell you what; they hooked me plain and simple with that stunt. That was just a brilliant piece of advertising. 16 to 1 on RT and while the reviews aren't over the top, they seem solid which strikes me as unusual for critics reviewing this type of movie. I think it's going to fly and it's going to give a certain 2D movie that opens the next week some problems.

EDIT: Hmmmm.....19 to 1 95%. Remember though......they're critics.:sbr::yuk:

Ghost Protocol was 213 to 15 and did decently enough.

Yeah. I get that. That's really good as far as critics go. I just don't listen to them much and would rather hear what regular moviegoers think. Rex F'ing Reed panned Ant-Man and I thought it was really entertaining so why listen to him? I think RN is going to do just fine and think that stunt is just whack.

I read an article about the movie int he latest issue of Empire Magazine.

Macquarrie said in addition to the MI related easter eggs there are also easter eggs lifted from Cold War spy film classics of the past.

In one case, there is a double easter egg the set is lifted from one film while the dialogue for the
Same scene is lifted from another film..
The article is not online.
But you can find this issue of Empire in bookstores and newsstands now.
Be warned though.
There are spoilers for some of the Cold War spy film easter eggs inside
.Edit: The magazine also featires an article about the 100 greatest movie characters.
Ethan Hunt is ranked number 87.

I'm looking forward to this after not having much to look forward to this summer.

I am trying to decide if I should see the film in IMAX or not .
Normally thats a great idea but, the film was converted to IMAX not shot in IMAX.

So anybody who has a chance to see the film before next Saturday,

I would be very interested to know if the IMAX conversion makes any real difference in this case.
Thanks .

Almost nothing is shot in IMAX. Now they have the new IMAX cameras and will be using them for Civil/Infinity Wars, but Christopher Nolan was just about the only one I know of who was actually using an IMAX camera and only in some scenes of TDK and TDKR, but they were very difficult to use. Some of the shots in true IMAX are, however, breathtaking. (EDIT: Should have included Interstellar).

Go see it in IMAX if you like the franchise. It's worth it. That jet takeoff trailer is still blowing my frelling mind......

EDIT: As I understand it, the Russos are using the new 2D IMAX camera for some of Civil War and using it exclusively in Infinity Wars and doing a 3D conversion. I wish they'd just use the new 3D IMAX camera and skip to conversion. They are getting pretty good at the conversion, but I don't believe it's as good as shooting in 3D (Hugo being a stunning example of 3D work). I'm sure there is a downside (expense, knowledge of how to use the cameras correctly??), but don't know for sure what it is.

Is there an expert out there on this subject?

The IMAX scenes in Ghost Protocol are probably the best stuff I've seen on the big screen. That movie was easily one of the best cinematic experiences I've had.

Yeah. I love IMAX and almost all of them are conversions. I will, however, never forget the first time I saw The Dark Knight at the old Bridge Theater at the Howard Hughes Center in "true" IMAX. The scenes that Nolan actually shot in IMAX were so.....ummmm.....stunning, breathtaking, whatever..... that they almost made me feel kind of dizzy. Mind blowing camera work by one of the masters.

I can't wait to see some movies shot with the new IMAX cameras at the TCL Chinese in Hollywood with their new, dual IMAX projectors. Those frelling projectors rock.

I go to this IMAX theater. Is the only one in my country.

That is SWEET. I love being up close and this one definitely fits the bill. I did some theater reviews on my website (including the TCL Chinese) in case you are interested. I have some updates, but haven't gotten around to including them just yet.

Where is that theater?

Nice. That one is the IMAX Theater Norcenter, is located in Buenos Aires. Is the only one in the country and I happen to live near by.
