So Jimmy Fallon gets Tom Cruise to do a Lip Sync Battle & Tom not doing Old Time Rock N Roll was kinda disappointing. The little tease they did was funny though. That would be how Tom wins the Lip Sync Battle belt though if he one day showed up on that
I'd like to see Tom have a lip sync battle against Anne. Now that would really be Mission: Impossible for him. :cwink:

I'd imagine that would be tough for anybody to beat if Tom went full on Risky Business on stage & if Tom included some running & jumping on couches in the performance game over against anybody

Just got home from a screening of this a few hours ago. It's terrific. I just love the fact that almost 20 years after the first one was released not only is the franchise still going strong but it gets better after each one. Had an absolute blast with this one. McQuarrie knocked it out of the park IMO here. I didn't want it to end.

Glad to hear that it truly is a great film.
I never had any doubt.

Okay .
IMAX it is then .
Which is better, Universal CityWalk 19 or the TCL Chinese Theatre?
I am a subway ride away from both .

RUN, DO NOT WALK TO THE TCL CHINESE THEATER!!!! THAT THEATER IS AWESOME.

If you like being up close, get an aisle seat (towards the center) at the back of the lower section (or a few rows down if you are like me and really like to get visually...and otherwise... blasted). If not, you can sit somewhere center in the upper section. The VIP seats for early showings (where all the stahs sit) are the center of the first few rows of the upper section and you can probably nab one of them if you act fast.

I think you're gonna love this place. Prices, however, are high. Probably about $18-19 for a matinee. Not cheap.

They have the new IMAX digital projector. One of only 2 in the world (maybe more now, but haven't heard of any new ones). It's super bright and crisp. DJ turned me on to the technology.

Let us know what you think of it. They do tours too and there's a lot of history at the theater. I did a review of it on my website and have a link to an article on the new projector. If you want, you can check it out at:

Hugo and The Life of PI are the only two movies that I enjoyed in 3D and both of them had Oscar Winning Directors who knew what they were doing .
One of the things that I like about IMAX ,great images and I don't have to wear 3D Glasses to see them.
I wear glasses of my own , I have to put the 3D version over my glasses.
Not comfortable at all and they always slide down during the film.

Hugo was one of the most visually stunning films I've ever seen. No less than James Cameron described it as the best 3D cinematography he'd ever seen. Life of Pi was excellent. In both cases, the 3D added immeasurably to the finished product. Yeah, I'd say that Marty guy sorta knows what he's doing.

I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who would like to have a lip sync battle "with" Anne......just as impossible for the vast majority.....

Here's the video for anyone that missed it.

AMAZING lip sync battle. Say what you want about Fallon, but the man and his crew bring genuine fun to late night talk shows. :)

I like that idea.
Something we have not seen in the Mission films
Wasn't there a classic Mission episode involving a syndicate meeting in the mountains and cable cars were the only way up ?

I'm not sure, I actually was thinking about it as I love Where Eagles Dare that has a cool cable car sequence up in the mountains.

:funny: Tom is always a good sport with this stuff.

I am so damned pumped for this movie this Friday.

Oh My God

Well Ive been saying for a while now that actors dont age like they used to. Improvements in medicine, knowledge of physical health, supplements, nutrition etc has helped slow the breakdown of the human body. Plus, Cruise is very serious about keeping his body in shape. If Marlon Brando was Tom's age right now and not a lazy ass he could look like Tom too. Some of it is genetics too.

It's like that thing with one sister smoking cigarettes and the other doesn't. It's all in how you take care of yourself

(and with Hollywood which doctors can help you)

I didn't realize until now that the composer for this movie is not the same as the last one which kinda sucks, GP had an amazing soundtrack. Hopefully this turns out to be good

This is the best action movie of the summer.

Rebecca Ferguson owns the screen. She is given the most agency and spotlight other than Cruise than any other character in this franchise. I really hope Ferguson comes back as Ilsa Faust.

Simply put, Christopher McQuarrie is the most underrated filmmaker working today. He is legit. When I watch McQuarrie, I feel like I am watching classic action movies of the 80s and 90s again. McTiernan, Donner, etc.

She leaves such a lasting impression. I really hope she returns too. A friend of mine went to a Q & A screening sunday, and I think he said that McQuarrie would love to come back for a M:I:6. Now I like the fact that each film has its own unique director, but if he were to come back I would definitely be game for it. I love his work here.

McQuarrie should come back. He's a talented and criminally underrated director.

He's the first one to really allow someone else to basically upstage Cruise in the show and do it successfully.

One of the reviews I read said that Ilsa Faust is the best female character in the franchise's history and a character that can actually go toe to toe with Ethan. Glad to hear that members here feel the same way.

No pther female character in the franchise has the amount of plot agency in the franchise that Ilsa Faust does.

She also takes off her high heels before her action beats. Hey, you know, Jurassic World...take some freaking notes

Just saw the movie in IMAX. Absolutely breathtaking and intense. If you have the option, IMAX is most definitely the format to choose. There are sequences that are genuinely heart-pounding. The water sequence! The car/motorcycle chase!

And I agree with all ghe above—Revecca Ferguson is wonderful. She's sexy, she's badass...she's a real treat in the film, and perfectly compliments Cruise (who, like always, brings his A+ game).
