Does anyone have any info on the Monster movie?

I just checked imdb.com and it has nothing except the release date/year, 2009. No director, no cast, just writers so far.

I read threads/posts over there saying how Guillermo del Toro wanted to work on the film, but not direct. He says it would be better as an mini-series. Which I agree with.
