Mortal Kombat 3 (2010)

I grew up with MK and i liked all the past movies

so i cant wait either :D

but wasnt production post-poned because
of katrina ? and i think there was already
a thread on this

I searched. I had no idea that it had been post-poned cuz of Katrina, is that where they were they were gonna film it or something?

Dude, never take IMDB seriously. They have had this movie up there for years, simply changing the release date occassionally.

Filmmaker mink, attached to direct the third installment – or is it a reboot? - of the “Mortal Kombat” movie series, dropped by the compound today to answer questions about the video-game *** film.

The status of the film, as of today, is that “...the Producers are working out their deals with the studio and arranging their financing”, says the director, who helmed Steven Seagal's “Into the Sun”.

mink says the project isn't so much a sequel as it is a “re-envisioning(if that is a word) of the Mortal Kombat franchise from top to bottom. Todays audience is a savvy involved group so the film must be A plus plus in every area in order to capture the magic of the first film. It is taking the entire concept to the next level across the board in every area visual design, story, cast, FX, photography and most importantly the fighting scenes. The original Mortal Kombat game was born a child of many visual loves by the creators at midway so this latest version borrows heavily from that pioneering spirit and must be thought out and executed at the highest level in order for it succeed in today's market place. This is no overnight task.''

Though the IMDB has Christopher Lambert returning as Rayden, mink says casting hasn't begun yet.

“First things first, is the way these larger projects need to be done. It is still in the business stages but once that is squared away all casting options will be explored along with the continued development of the best story line.”

The last we heard the film was supposed to be shot in Louisiana.

''At one point Louisiana was on the table for various reasons. It still maybe in the future if that is appropriate place to work for the picture''.

Though Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan wrote the original draft of the script, “the writing has been handled by the Producers and their writers at Threshold Studios in conjunction with Midway, of course.”

So there you have it. Not quite time to “Fight!” just yet, but when it is, we'll scream “Get Over Here!”.

Still on like neck bones

I say maybe it all depends on what the trailer looks like.

It's just too bad this is and will be in developement hell for quite sometime.

I don't see this getting off the ground...well...ever.

Unless that new MK game their working on blows everyone away, MK had it's time and is or has been fairly dead.

This should be merged with the other thread.

I think that a fresh, fresh cast should be brought in. And it should have some good fight choreography. Have the actors training and what not. And I'd hope that it'd look dark, kinda like the movie Se7en. Just that it'd be on Shang's island as opposed to a city.

NEW MOVIE! i dont' want to see a sequel, they should restart the series. dammit! i have the first 2 and those are fine for that but they need to restart it and have better action acting graphics and a darker storyline that will span more than one movie. have it be the lord of the rings of mortal kombat. easy EASY way to do that, i've posted it before but a real easy way to make a trilogy to film all at once is to combine the ideas of the 3 original games into one beig story spanning 3 movies.

yeah they should restart..... as much as i love the first movie... the second was a disgrace to film...

I am GREATLY satisfied with Christopher Lambert's return as Rayden.

Any news on whether or not sub-zero will be in it?

The first movie was cast AMAZINGLY. They NEED to redo the second one (Johnny DIED!).

Yeah that sucked since hes pretty much an original was it cuts him off from any sequels unless they plan to remake a whole new story line

and i imagine liu would be in, i kinda liked the story line to Deadly Alliance when he died early on, it was a good story. except the part where he came back as a zombie :o

Yeah, but I think they just did that for comedic effect, though.
