Yeah but look at that fight footage with Raiden and Shinnok. One would imagine those cutscenes lead into the actual in-game fights would they not?

thats an assumption though. It could be but still an assumption nonetheless. It confirms he's in the game, but not playable....yet

OK, well then the trailer technically doesn't confirm that Mileena and Erron Black are playable yet either.

Since we didn't see actual in-game fight footage with them either.

lies, he would be awsome if he got the NRS redo treatment, but to each his own, im happy to see Mileena was really hoping for her, and Shinnok, but it seems shinnok just gets his ass kicked and probably wont be playable at all
That'd be a big turn off for me. I hope he's at least the big boss of the first act. At least. I though NRS would redeem the character and I hope they do.

Trailer is awesome, though. This story mode is looking quite interesting and it might become the best in a fighting game.

Looks like he's in

Excellent, looks a cool new character to use. Hope we get to see him in action soon. If he utilizes weapons more than other characters I can imagine him playing a bit like Deathstroke did in Injustice.

So, am I the only one to suggest Cassie Cage and Jacqueline Briggs are half sisters? Ala Sonya+Johnny Cage and Sonya+Jax.

They were/are roommates in the DC Comics prequel tie-in. That's it.

Awesome trailer,The story or at least the depth of it seems amazing for a fighting game, seems like a trailer for a full action game

are you serious? thats the trademark of MK

Totally serious. The whole franchise is popular because of that mechanic, but it's also the most pointless and gimmicky aspect of the game. Up till now, they could have made Fatalities more practical. Ed Boon has gone on record several times talking about having roundtable discussions about what the fatalities should look like. I hear that and I think if he put as much thought in the actual fighting mechanics as he does in the post match spectacle... well the franchise was already popular, but the games would have been good at least.... Prior to MK9 of course and even that is debatable for some people.

So... I have always enjoyed the crazy mythology of this series. It's just insanely fun and easy to get into. The remake/reboot from a few years ago was just this massive gift to fans, but I was excited to see what they could do with a totally original story in the sequel. Between that trailer and the prequel comic, I'm optimistic for how much fun this will be.

I've been playing fighting games competitively off and on for the past 15+ years and any debate about MK9's quality is strictly genre bias unless we're talking netcode because MK9's netcode is ****.

Mortal Kombat's problem has never been focusing on spectacle over mechanics as some may seem to think. The original MK team lacked a basic fundamental knowledge about how fighting games actually work. For example: after Deadly Alliance came out, it was explained to Ed why throws being blockable was stupid. In MKD throws were unblockable, but you couldn't escape them, one step forward, two steps back. After that, the concepts of wake up options throw escapes were explained to him, Wake up attacks made their debut in Armageddon and we got a ******** parry mechanic that didn't work, one step forward, two steps back. After that, the MK team absorbed the team that made Shaolin Monks and guys like Brian LeBaron and John Edwards, guys who actually know fighting game design fundamentals, took over the actual design aspect of the game, thats why in MK9, you have a proper wake up game, throw escapes, buffer cancels and a breaker system based on meter management rather than a predetermined limit.

My point is that MK's lack in quality before MK9 was never about focusing on fatalities over mechanics, they just didn't know any better. Now they have people that do and tournament players testing their games for them. Now they just need to fix their ****ing netcode then Netherrealm could potentially be the best fighting dev in the industry.

after watching that Power Rangers fan film does anyone else think that having one of the Rangers, preferably Tommy, as a bonus fighter would be pretty awesome? it wouldn't be the first time a Ranger goes up against a Mortal Kombat character

and also, it would make for some awesome DLC to go along with Spawn & Predator

No. Mortal Kombat and Power Rangers? Talk about jumping the shark moment

How many Mortal Kombat games were there last gen?

I believe just MKvsDC and MK9.

Oh got those 2 then. Wonder why no more? Especially as one is not a pure MK game.

Quality over quantity. I think they realized their mistake from previous years bc pumping them out led to a decline in quality. They took a step back to take their time with the series and it worked out. We could have got one in 2013, but thankfully WB had the team make Injustice instead

I couldn't buy MK vs Power Rangers. No force in the MK universe is powerful enough to stand up to Rita.

I don't even know who that is, but googling her I'm startled by how much that design could work as a MK design. Holy ****.

That's preferable to a load of crap or even average games yeah. As long as they can keep the quality at this high standard I want them to make as many games as possible though, even if not just MK. At least one every 3 years if 2 is too soon.

since Scorpion was in Injustice, we all know Batman will be in MK X as the super secret hidden post-finale mid-boss.

:o
