I've created this thread for the purpose of gathering and documenting information (as it comes) surrounding the yet-to-be-named MoS sequel set for release in 2015. All are welcome to contribute by providing new material pertinent to discussion, so long as the sources from which said material derives are fairly credible.

I'll start.

1. Zack Snyder will return to direct the screenplay (story) written by David Goyer.

2. The film will center on dual protagonists (Batman and Superman) or an antagonist who later becomes a second protagonist (Batman). It is also possible that Batman will appear as a deuteragonist, having a slightly lesser role than Superman.

3. Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, and Lawrence Fishburne are set to return in their respective roles.

4. Ben Affleck has been cast as the new Batman. He is currently training with Rejan Jalali, the man responsible for getting him into shape for 2010's The Town.

5. It has been strongly hinted that Lex Luthor will be the antagonist of this film.

6. The Bruce Wayne appearing in the sequel has been described as "tired, weary and seasoned" by various sources, including Warner Bros.

7. There has been strong speculation that a tall brunette female may have a prominent role in Snyder's sequel, leading some to believe that Wonder Woman will be on hand in the film.

You assume without official confirmation that this will not be a pure versus movie.

Larry Fong is to be the cinematographer
Hans Zimmer is still rumored and more than likely to return to compose the score
Patrick Tatopoulos is to be the production designer.

Jaimie Alexander was approached by WB; she is privy to the plot.

Henry Cavill is once again teaming up with trainer Mark Twight; both are currently in London.

Zack Snyder recently shared a photo of Ben Affleck in the new Batman costume with filmmaker Kevin Smith. Smith's comments suggest the garb will be a departure from the "matrixy" black suits previously worn by Affleck's predecessors in the role.

We also know that they're looking for a female lead that will potentially fill out in being Bruce Wayne's supposed Love Interest, based on several reports that we've gotten from other sites regarding the specifics of the role.

We know it's not Man of Steel 2. It's not even Batman vs Superman. It's Justice League Begins.

That's assuming of course if the rumors of Wonder Woman and Flash appearing is true, which we don't know right now.

You just gave me an idea for a title that will make everyone happy.

MAN OF STEEL 2: BATMAN BEGINS THE JUSTICE LEAGUE

Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are confirmed to return to their respective roles of Perry White and Martha 'Ma' Kent. Filming will also see them returning to the Kent's residence.

Heh, I wonder if Diane Lane returning was contingent on whether Josh Brolin wasn't cast as Batman.

Because if you remember, they initially didn't announce whether she would be back in Superman/Batman.

I thought about that as well.

Is Ben officially writing? Saw this:

http://blogs.indiewire.com/thompson...-is-the-new-batman-in-snyders-superman-batman

"Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project—bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in 'Man of Steel.'"

Why would Affleck and Snyder be trying to create something new unless Affleck was inolved in the screenplay? Then I saw this comments on Reddit about it:

Batman is writing for a movie with Superman.
The director of Star Trek is directing Star Wars.
Guys, the antichrist is probably already here.

Dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria!

Nice to have this thread to catch up on things

According to Snyder, it's not going to be based off of The Dark Knight Returns.

You know I WISH it was Doomsday instead of Lex Luthor. This will be the 357362th time we've seen Lex Luthor as the villain in live action. If it were Doomsday, it'd be the very first time.

Doomsday is way too big for this film I think. If anything, they will set him up in a future MOS sequel. I could see a potential Death Of Superman/Kingdom Come type of story being built.

leave him for future sequels or a JL movie...

Oh Great. Right after they rebuild Metropolis after Superman and Zod's fight ****ed it up, we're gonna destroy it right back with a Superman and Doomsday fight.

Metropolis would be getting ****ed up so bad, Gotham looks like a safe place to live.

6 YOUNGER ACTORS TO CONSIDER AS LEX LUTHOR

jake-luthor.jpg

1. Jake Gyllenhaal (age 32) - Let's go back to the Warner Bros. pool of superheroes as they did for Lois Lane and Superman. Both Amy Adams and Henry Cavill were up for Lois and Superman previous to Man of Steel, respectively. While Kevin Spacey was the only Lex Luthor actor for Superman Returns, how about another Batman actor? Jake Gyllenhaal could fit the bill and has already sported the bald look.

armie-hammer-luthor.jpg

2. Armie Hammer (age 27) - Hammer is currently teaming with Henry Cavill in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and was up for Batman as well in the 2008 defunct Justice League movie. Shave his head and now he's a bad guy! Hammer stands 6'5" and would make for a formidable Lex Luthor vs. Superman. Plus Armie Hammer has played the rich bad guy role in The Social Network.

joquin-luthor.jpg

3. Joquin Phoenix (age 39) - Played the bad guy in Gladiator; played Johnny Cash; the guy can do it all. Plus he has that mad power hungry look to fit Luthor. And the guy is just cool as hell.

leo-luthor.jpg

4. Leonardo DiCaprio (age 39) - Back to the WB talent pool again as reportedly DiCaprio was wanted by the WB execs as the Riddler for Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy. DiCaprio would be a huge name for the movie. And hey, maybe Luthor doesn't have to be bald.

jgl-luthor.jpg

5. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (age 32) - JGL's name has been associated with every role under the sun in Hollywood, so why not Lex Luthor? The guy is a heck of an actor and has sported the bald look as well. Maybe he's been turning down all the superhero roles to play the part of a bad guy.

matt-damon-bald.jpg

6. Matt Damon (age 43) - Probably the most obvious choice to play Lex Luthor seeing his relationship with Ben Affleck. The two go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. Damon and Affleck are best friends and distant cousins. Damon also landed a small role in Christopher Nolan's Interstellar which can't be a coincidence. Could it be that Damon has already landed the role of Lex Luthor and everybody's being fed a bunch of follow-the-yellow-brick-road?!

IMO Matt Dammon, Leo Dicaprio , Joaquin Phoenix would be great choice as Lex Luthor
