What are some of the more emotional scenes in comic book movies. Use spoiler tags if necessary

To start us off:

* Last 15 minutes of The Amazing Spider-Man 2
* Final fight in The Winter Soldier

Number one for me is still Jor-El's goodbye speech to his son in Superman: The Movie. Still brings tears to my eyes. It will take a lot to top that one in my book.

Yeah, the last 15 minutes or so of "TASM2" was the first CBM to make me cry, very powerful way to end it, really well executed. My top moment in any CBM.

I honestly cannot think of any other CBM's that made me respond emotionally in that way, usually I just go to be excited. Something will come to mind soon for sure though

From TV Tropes:

In Raimi's Spider-man 2
After a fight where Spider-man is forced to remove his mask, Peter uses every ounce of his strength to stop a runaway train; he succeeds passes out immediately afterwards plunging towards certain death but the passengers catch him and set him down on the floor, whereupon they're shocked to see that Spider-Man is "just a kid." Peter then wakes up and a couple kids give him his mask back, as everyone promises they won't tell anyone who he is.

Gwen's death in ASM2, her speech and the kid in the Spidey suit.

For me, the most emotionally resonant CBMs are X-Men First Class and Superman The Movie

X-Men First Class
Magneto moving the satellite and Submarine.
Xavier getting shot and paralyzed.
Young Erik Lensherrs mother being murdered

X-Men 3: The Last Stand
Jean great reuniting with Scott Summers
The Death of Charles Xavier
Magneto abandoning Mystique after she take a cure bullet for him.

X2
The death of Jean Grey

Spider-Man
The death of Uncle Ben
The funeral ending

Spider-Man 2
Mary Janes seeing Peter as Spider-Man

Amazing Spider-Man
Peter reacting to the death of Captain Stacy

Amazing Spider-Man 2
The last 15 minutes
Defending the kid from the bullies

Captain America the first Avenger
Peggy after she loses contact with Steve

Blade 2
Nyssa dies in Blades arms

Superman The Movie
Superman saving Lois and the helicopter.
Supermans reaction holding Lois lifeless body

Watchmen
Nite Owls reaction to Rorschachs death
The birth of Dr Manhattan

Hellboy
The funeral of Professor Bloom
Hellboys emotional speech to Liz

Hellboy II: The Golden Army
"Can't smile without you"

that i will have to go back and re-edit this post.

Agree on the Watchmen suggestions, also:

Excellent editting with those flashbacks

I know! But why the heck isn't Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut available in Europe? :cmad:

Ah well, there's always Youtube...

Oh, and for anyone who got a little misty-eyed at Hollis Masons death scene here is the follow up scene, also from the ultimate cut, where Nite Owl II dispenses some justice on The Knot Tops:

Harvey Dent waking up in the hospital and finding his scarred coin.

The Crow: whole film, very emotional for me.

Superman the Movie and Man of Steel were both pretty
emotional too, as I've been a fan of Superman since I was a
little kid.

Reeve's reaction to Lois' death was pretty amazing.

In Man of Steel, "You're the answer son" very emotional and "Flight"
in fact, just seeing Cavill suited up for the first time gave me chills,
it was like Superman walked out of the comic and onto the screen.

The Dark Knight: The interrogation scene, loved how Bale played
furious Batman.

And the final standoff with Harvey, and the ending monologue.
As much as I love Man of Steel, Dark Knight is probably the best CBM
of all time, IMO.

Dark Knight Rises: Breaking the Bat, not the best fight scene ever,
but it's a bit disturbing seeing Batman get absolutely destroyed like
that......of course it made Round 2 that much sweeter, when Bats
smacks down Bane and says "....then you have my permission to die."
I wanted to leap up and yell, "Yeah, in your face mother****er !"
but that's just the kind of guy I am.

TASM 2: yeah, the death of Gwen, well handled. I thought Garfield
had much more of a grip on Peter in this film as a whole.

X-Men Last Stand: Xavier's death (great musical score in this part too).
and Magneto playing chess at the end (watch McKellen's face carefully
and you can work out exactly what's happening).

Watchmen: hmmmm......tricky. Rorschach's death was probably the most emotional bit for me. The other characters felt a bit flat but Jackie Earle Hayley saved the whole film with his spot-on and riveting portrayal of
Rorschach.
Oh yeah, and the director's cut verision, definitely Hollis Mason't death, probably the most shocking scene in the original comic. Which is saying a
lot as it also contains an attempted rape and the series begins with a
brutal murder.

Kick Ass: the whole Big Daddy rescue/death scene was awesome. Also the hatred that Hit-Girl/ D'Amico have for each other in the final fight (and of course death by bazooka, makes me cheer every time).

X-Men
-Wolverine risks his life to heal Rogue

Spider-Man
-Peter/MJ in the hospital

Batman Begins
-Stethoscope memory

Captain America: The First Avenger
-Cap's last conversation with Peggy

TASM
-"Where's my dad?"
-Peter listening to Ben's message for the first time.
-Crane scene. (yeah yeah, I know)

The Dark Knight Rises
-Alfred confessing the truth to Bruce
-Alfred seeing Bruce at the cafe

Man of Steel
-Death of Jonathan Kent
-"He saw it Clark, believe me".

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
-Peggy seeing Steve for "the first time"

TASM2
-"You're my boy".
-Peter hears Richard's final words
-Death of Gwen Stacy

V for Vendetta when Natalie Portman is "liberated".

Superman the Movie when Superman reacts to Lois' death.

Constantine when he sacrifices himself and heavens open up.

Avengers when Iron Man tries to contact Pepper Potts and say goodbye as he guides the nuke.

Nice call on V For Vendetta. I would also add the final five minutes of the movie from V's death to the credits.

I would include not so much Rachel's death as how all the characters, including Harvey, Batman, Alfred, and even Joker react to it (anger at the Joker).

Also the last 10 minutes or so of The Dark Knight are very intense between Gordon, Batman and Dent, as well as Batman's decision after Harvey dies.

The first scene of X-Men that is in 1944 Poland.

For pure joy, it is hard to beat the last five minutes of Spider-Man 2 when Mary Jane runs giddily to Peter's apartment, their overdue "come together" moment, and Peter's euphoria at the end. Also, their semi-break-up just before on the docks while sappy still hits that Spielbergian "feels" zone.

When Big Daddy dies in Kick-Ass.

When Bruce Wayne climbs out of the well in The Dark Knight Rises. Even better is when Alfred sees him alive at the end of the movie.

Last ten minutes of of TDK. Jon Kent's death in S:TM.

The scene in Spider-man 2 where peter tells aunt may what happened on the night that Ben had died. She's completely silent while peter is telling her the events and when he's done she doesn't yell or get angry in front of peter. Instead she goes upstairs and most likely cries by herself.

I found the scene in Kick Ass where he yells that he rather die than let the thugs beat up the stranger pretty powerful. (it happens right before Kick Ass is recorded during the street fight and goes viral).

Seconded

Sometimes the death of a character's effect is even more brilliant than the actual death itself because of the brilliance it brings out in other characters.

The scorching of upset Harvey Dent face is what I think is the most emotional scene in The Dark Knight
