Hi folks. You've got time to kill, or you want something on in the background - that you can get sucked into at any point and enjoy. Or, maybe you just want to sit down and watch an MCU film.

Not all MCU films are paced equally. Some have super exciting bits, but lag in other spots.

Also, some MCU films aren't quite as good after multiple viewings, whereas some stay awesome or get better.

To me it's a tough call between Captain America TWS, Captain America CW, Guardians of the Galaxy vol 1 and Thor Ragnarok. All of them have superb pacing and it's possible to put them on, go do something else for a bit, then come back and get drawn straight in, no matter where the story is up to.

Equally, it's possible to put these films on for a watch, start to finish and enjoy them - even if you literally just saw them yesterday.

Out of the films I listed I would probably go with Civil War as number one for rewatchability - followed by Winter Soldier.

How about the rest of you ? I've left the poll open for multiple choices so feel free to click your faces. Cheers.

For me, it is Civil War.

It is really MCU movie that have the most emotional character story in it. It is the most I always rewatch it, whether at home, at my BD portable in my car, at my laptop.

Cap's best portrayal and costume also in Civil War. I love the moment Cap mourns the death of Peggy in the stairs. It is really one of Cap's great moment in film.
Also, Cap's look to Tony in the 1991 footage scene. While he hides the truth from Tony, but you can see the expression from Cap's face in that scene that he's feel Tony's pain, too.

I think that proves both Chris Evans and RDJ gave their best acting performance in this film.

Ragnarok is absolutely delightful, hilarious and beautiful with a heartfelt message about history and colonialism set in a Kirbyesque environment. We get Peak Thor, a great coda for Odin, an excellent Valkyrie, Horned Hela, Mega Surtur, Warrior Monk Heimdall, Petulant Toddler Hulk, Gloved Dr. Strange, King Loki, Fenris, a taste of Skurge's Last Stand, Korg & Miek and Jeff Goldbloom as himself. And the Immigrant Song!

Ragnarok is my all time favorite comic book movie and I want to watch it again right now.

Civil War is awesome, I really go back and forth between it and WInter Soldier - my digital copy of TWS is much better than my copy of CW, which might be small factor.

I totally agree with everything you've said about it. I remember being fired up for Batman v Superman and being lukewarm about Civil War. Wow, did I ever change my mind after seeing it.

IMO Civil War was RDJ's best performance as Tony Stark since the first Iron Man movie - he shows that Tony has a serious side, and a lot of guilt.

Yeah, Ragnarok delivers on every level. I loved the Kirby inspired look of Sakar, especially the Grandmaster's guards. And yes, any movie that can use a Led Zeppelin tune so well gets mad props.

It also has one of the MCUs best villains, Hela, and Blanchet really has fun with the role.

People don't give Hemsworth enough props for handling Waititi's comedy so well. Thor really becomes more likeable in this film, particularly with his interactions with Loki, usually Hiddleston steals the scene, but not in Ragnarok.

If I had a digital copy I would definitely watch it more often. A terrific movie full stop.

I voted for like half the list (the Cap trilogy, Guardians films, Captain Marvel and the Avengers films), but the number 1 spot for me without hesitation is Spider-man Homecoming.

Nice. My favorite Spider Man film. Reminds me of the John Hughes teen films of the late 80s. Personally, I only watch it now and again, although as soon as it went on Netflix I had to have another viewing.

I voted for 11 films but my top 5 are:

Infinity War - A badass flick that grabs you and never lets go.

Winter Soldier - Great action set pieces boost the replay value through the roof.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 - Great soundtrack and message.

Dr. Strange - This mindbender is very fun to watch. One of the most underrated origin films.

Black Panther - It's very interesting to look back reflect on what made this such a runaway success. One of the most groundbreaking superhero films in history.

Nice. I knew someone would pick Black Panther sooner or later.

You're one of the few people who prefers GOTG vol 2 to Vol 1. I can see why, its an emotional film - as well as hilarious. I go back and forth as to which one is better overall, but I find Vol 1 a bit easier to rewatch, which is not a criticism of Vol 2.

I like Dr Strange a lot - especially the sequence in the Dark dimension at the end - actually the whole 3rd act is one eye popping effect after the next. I always liked the comic books, and the MCU has done him justice by having a superb actor, who perfectly fits the part and the special effects to capture the weird psychedelic vibe of the comics.

That whole mirror Dimension chase sequence is so mindbending that I can't watch it too often. Probably why it doesn't make my regular rewatch list, but once in a blue moon I'll get it out.

Agreed. Of all the 'genre-bending' concepts the MCU has tried out, I always felt Homecoming combining superheroes with a high school movie was by far the most successful. It feels 100% like both genres at the same time, which makes it both unique and incredibly attractive to me as I love both genres.

Of course it also doesn't hurt that I think it's one of the funniest movies of the decade (and in a way less over the top way than say, Guardians or Ragnarok, which isn't better necessarily, but is definitely refreshing).

Also, every time I scene the conversation scene in the car, it takes me back to my very first time seeing the movie. Spider-man having a personal connection to his villains had become such a sawed-off cliche over the years that it basically had zero effect on me anymore. But doing it like Homecoming where I was honestly shocked to find Peter suddenly thrust into this super vulnerable situation was actually one of my greatest and most memorable moments in a theater. And it didn't hurt, obviously, that Keaton was so. damn. creepy. in that scene.

To me, they're all rewatchable. I do love having an MCU marathon every few years or so. But the most rewatchable to me are The Avengers, Infinity War, Endgame, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ragnarok. I'll never get tired of those.

I don't know if I ever have time and energy to watch a full MCU marathon again. (I only doing it one time last year before Endgame).

Maybe after Disney has release their all MCU collection in 4K, then I will watch it full again from Iron Man 1.

For now...just rewatch few that made a impact for me. My most favorite, Civil War, to me is the ultimate Marvel movie, with Endgame close in the ranking #2.

Yeah, Civil War is magic. I can put it on in the background, go and do something else then come back and no matter where it is up to, I can get straight back into the movie. I think it is a real contender for the MCU's best film.

  1. Thor: Ragnarok (my favorite)
  2. All four Avengers films
  3. All three Cap movies
  4. All three Iron Man movies (including the weak and easily forgettable second movie, it's still plenty of fun to watch)
  5. Black Panther
  6. The Incredible Hulk (good underrated movie that is superior to some of the more acclaimed movies in this franchise)

Hopefully, I can include Captain Marvel and Spider-Man Far From Home in this list upon rewatches, cause I really loved them on first view.

I'm tempted to include Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but I find MCU version of StarLord an annoying childish character, Rocket Raccoon is a prick, and Drax is too dumb. They're even made close to insufferable in LEGO Marvel 2, and there is too much focus on them there.

A ton of them are rewatchable, but I only picked a handful. Not all of the ones I chose are my favorite MCU movies though.

Avengers - I might like TWS and maybe Civil War more (Those are definitely my top 3) but I find Avengers has a much bigger rewatch factor than Winter Soldier.

Spider-Man: Homecoming - It's light, fun and has some good comedic elements to it. I find it to be really rewatchable.

Ant-Man - Arguably the MCU movie with the best rewatch factor. Good pacing, fun action scenes, funny and a runtime of under two hours?

Captain Marvel - Gets better with each watch and almost everything about the movie works for me. I love Carol's journey, the action, the humor (nowhere near the funniest MCU movie, but when the comedy lands, it really lands for me)

There are some others I rank higher and ones I find rewatchable too, but those are pretty much my main ones.

It's hard to pick out which are the most rewatchable. All of them are to some degree but some more than others, so where do I draw the line for a top tier?

I know that I think that Ragnarok is the most rewatchable. It has pretty much everything, although more fun than drama, and it's incredibly well paced. It's just very "comic-booky", not least visually with all the Kirby influences.

Infinity War is also up there with a great pace, tons of things happening with a ton of variation due to all the characters, and a fantastic villain that carries narrative in a protagonist position.

Those are definitely my most rewatched the last few years, so I could keep it at two. Others I've rewatched more than average are Thor, TWS, CW, Avengers and GotG. But even when I'm thinking about others I kind of say to myself "sure, I could rewatch this right now", so I just keep questioning my reasoning.

Ragnarok is a very rewatchable film - I love the Kirby homages.

On a related note - I've seen deleted clips where Odin is a homeless bum who has quite a different final interaction with Thor and Loki before Hela appears and kills him. Personally I hate that ( it's too dark) and prefer the cinematic version ( which is more uplifiting). As a serious Thor fan, what do you think ?

I think it could have been cool in itself to have the comic reference to Odin being a hobo if that was just how Loki had managed to hide him away (intentionally, not because he became homeless when the retirement home closed), but since Odin was meant to pass away I'm glad they realized it didn't feel right and remade the scene into what it is. They easily managed to establish Hela as extremely powerful without having her kill Odin so it was the right choice to give him a proper, less stereotypical, sendoff.
