Who is the most sympathetic villain in Marvel? Who is the least sympathetic villain in Marvel?

Least sympathetic:

Punisher
Wolverine
X-23
Blade
Black Widow

Most:

Invisible Girl
Spider-Man
Silver Surfer

Ambiguous:

Thor

Least sympathetic: HYDRA. I know it's not a villain, more like a terrorist organization but really, there's nothing there to like. Same for all their little offshoot organizations that became separate over time like AIM. You really just WANT Cap, Wolvie, Deadpool, whoever, to beat the hell out of/kill them.

Also the Vulture. Who likes him?

Oh, and Bullseye is fun to hate too. It gives me that warm fuzzy feeling when he gets his ass beat.

Most sympathetic: I don't know... Sandman in Spider-Man 3.

I can't really think of anyone else right now.

Most Sympathetic: Magneto- He is misguided but hie is fighting against injustice.

Least Sympathetic: Red Skull- He's a nazi sociopath for gosh sakes!

You realize they both have the same goals to wipe out a species and make another rule the world, and then make that villain as the leader?

EDIT: I suppose though, that Magneto wouldn't want to burn humans alive, and he does actually care about his race.

I would say Thanos is the least sympathetic, seeing as how he would destroy the universe to impress Death.

As for the most sympathetic I know is Venom, at least when he tried to be a hero.

Nice pics, Aztec. Reading Magneto: Testament really makes this even more true. It shows the crazy **** that Magneto went through and it's even crazier because it's based on real ****.

And hating Nazis is something that everyone can enjoy.

I don't see how Vulture is unsympathetic, recently he was stealing money to help pay for his grandson's operation and in Identity Disc, he wanted to protect his daughter who was working for SHIELD from being blackmailed by AIM agents. He at least looks out for his family. He's not pure evil., he does have redeeming qualities.

I think the problem with Hydra is unlike a real terrorist group, they don't seem to have an ideology, which makes them kinda boring.

Besides the already mentioned Red Skull, Purple Man isn't very sympathetic, he is a rapist serial killer.

Yes they do. They're neo-fascists. Their founding members were Japanese and German war criminals from WWII who wanted to keep the dream of an orderly, fascist society alive. However, because their various chapters and cells all over the world are fairly disorganized, they often end up working as mercenary thugs because someone will join their ranks or give them funding in exchange for using them as raw manpower in something usually tangentially related to their ideology at best.

That's pretty dated isn't it. How often does that even come up? Like you said many seem like random merc thugs, they seem as ideological as Cobra.

Fascism isn't dated. There are people who hold to that philosophy and are willing to kill and/or die for it. It's perfectly reasonable to have a neo-fascist terrorist organization. And you're right, it doesn't come up very much, for the reason that I explained. But they do have an ideology, which was my only point.

Cobra, incidentally, also has political ideologies. They're militant Libertarians. But that, obviously, doesn't come up as often as it should.

Most Sympathetic: The Gibbon, he's like the Spiderman of villians. The guy can never catch a break.

Least Sympathetic: William Stryker (pre-cyborg)- If anyone needed a beatdown.....it's him.

I highly doubt that anyone mentioned would want to kill everyone in the universe, they all have families or at least friends, or even pawns that they would want to live.

Thanos, however, would destroy everyone and everything in the entire universe.

Most: Perhaps The Lizard/Curt Connors. Before that business about Curt being able to control The Lizard the whole time, and only pretending to be innocent. Not sure if that's still canon or not but, I've always sympathized with Curt.
Ultimate Eddie Brock is pretty easy to feel bad for, parent’s dead, life pretty much ruined after Spidey took the suit out of the lab. Dropped out of college and spends his time eating people in the park, hates having the suit but is kind of addicted to it, sucks to be him.

Least: Someone else mentioned Bullseye and how they enjoy watching him get beat up. I feel the same way; Bullseye is the guy you love to hate. He got beat up by that Native-American guy during Warren Ellis' run on Thunderbolts and it was badass.
Hadn't even heard of that dude before and yet I smiled when he put Bullseye in intensive care. Who is he by the way? Native American Super hero, last seen in Thunderbolts "Faith In Monsters" arc? He wore some red, white, and blue denim outfit?

I'm also hopin' that Ronin/Clint Barton will get the chance to beat on Bullseye seeing as how BE's strutin' around in Barton's old clothes.

Least.

The Skrulls.

Most:
Magneto, Lizard, Rhino (he's just a moron he's not really evil at all)

Personally I find High Evolutionary pretty sympathetic. Even at his most villainous he just wants to gain more knowledge and actually improve humanity. His methods just suck sometimes.

Also Kang, while pretty villainous is kinda sympathetic. His sense of fairplay and honor sort of make him stand out. Like he's a villain who you can actually trust to keep his word for the most part and every time he shows up. He'll at least make sure you've got a fighting chance when he REALLY doesnt have to considering what he's capable of. That's pretty nice of him IMO.

Least Sympathetic:
Bullseye, Sabertooth, Carnage, (just monsters with nothing more going for them). Red Skull, Ultron, Apocalypse, Thanos (goals of genocide. basically just more focused and intellectual monsters)

Doom. Basically just an a**hole who's convinced he's better than everyone and everything in the universe and is out to prove it. Pure unsympathetic ego.

Id definetly put Magneto with most like other said. I feel for the guy and find him a more gray character

Least sympathetic has to be (ironically) the angels Ruth and Zadkiel. Both of which have committed mass murder.

Most sympathetic? Dragon Man.

He's always being used as a pawn.

Most Sympathetic: Magneto- He is misguided but hie is fighting against injustice.

Least Sympathetic: Red Skull- He's a nazi sociopath for gosh sakes!
Which reminds me:
I want to se mags put the smack down on the skull.
as The master of magnetism's a holocaust survivor it''ll be awesome.

But he's not even sentient, its like feeling sorry for dog, you can feel sorry for it, but its not the same as feeling sorry for someone is sentient. Its kinda hard to feel sorry for something that isn't even self aware.

I mean is dragon Man even alive?

Not for ME it's not. And im not sure he's not self aware; He's non sentient but has displayed self-motivational behavior in the past, such as his attaraction to Sue Storm.
