Movie Cliches That You Like

I like when terribly cheesy lines work,
(1) like when lines are inserted and the character laughs at their own joke, yet no one else does ... (ex. though not a movie) in the Ocean Spray Cranberry juice commercial where the two guys are standing in the river of cranberries, and they're talking about how cranberries have been around forever and the younger guy says "you'd know..." and starts laughing uncontrollably... lol luv that commercial
(2) when it's so corny you have to laugh, like in bada*ss films where cursing and whack insults like "*****ebag" (sp) are used to over masculate the star, most times I'm annoyed, but sometimes it cracks me up like in Wanted (James McAvoy: What the ***** have you done lately?)

OMG, plus I love/hate the fact that someone has to trip when being chased by a killer

When a character throws a cigarette or soemthing similar into a flammable liquid and walks away in slow moting while puting on a pair of sunglases as something in the background explodes. Extra bonus if a cheesy line is thrown in like, "Need a light".

Slo motion CHARGE scenes.

like LOTR and Last Samurai haaha

I love when the lead picks up his now dead loved one and begins to cry and screams into the air. Well, I hate and love it.

My favorite is when a supporting character leaves during some part of the film for some reason then shockingly comes back at the end.

...I sure wish Cyclops would have done that. :o

pretty much any movie where you think the hero is dead after being in a couple of explosions but miraculously he walks out with a few scratches...

Doesn't Wolverine do that when he blows up a helicopter or something? But he uses his claws to ignite the flame...

I think the title for Wolverine should've said this:

Wolverine: We stuck all the cliches in

You could honestly go up and down/post by post in this thread...and it was probably in Wolverine.

:o

During dramtic sequences, i like when people hold hands haha. Brings comfort and emotionality.

For example
The ending of T3

My favourite example of that is in 'Ghostbusters'. I thought the roof would be gone with the size of that explosion... apparently not:woot:

One cliche that I have is when somebody in a movie says: "There's no time". ----, there's still an hour and five minutes left of this movie!

I need there to be an epic battle between just the main bad guy and good guy.

Vader vs luke
Smith vs Neo

Lord of the rings upset me because there was really no main dude to have a stand off with at the end.

I also love heroic sacrifice and think that they are now cliche but whatever. I think that sometimes romanticism can be confused with cliches and I love romanticism. Like swashbuckling films.

One I don't like is when at the end of the film instead of getting the huge stand off fight between the two equals we really wanted to see they are forced to band together and fight a common enemy that comes out of nowhere. Wolverine is the most recent film I can think of that does this but there are others.

hahah that ghostbusters scene is classic

I don't know if this is a cliche that I love or hate, but when person in a movie says:
" come on nuthin's gonna happen" then something happens.
"What could possibly go wrong" then something goes wrong.
"Ive got a bad feeling about this" and something bad happens :)

Or someone gives a impelling speech only to be killed right after or during it.
I too am a sucker for fights in the rain as well.

I love training montages. Especially if they have some of those overly tough trainers/kung fu masters.

When the good guy get's beaten to a bloody pulp....and them remembers something heartfelt (like the memory of a loved one) and suddenly gets up and beats down the bad guy.

There was a great line on the short lived toon Clone High...

Ghandi: Look at the bright side, Abe; At least things can't possibly get any worse!

Abe: I told you never to say that! Look, something's about to wrong in 3...2...

Cleopatra: Abe, I'm breaking up with you. I...I just need some time to be alone...with JFK...*runs off*

Abe: See? I told you!

Ghandi: Ok wait, wait...At least things can't possibly get any BETTER!

Abe: *sigh* It doesn't work that way...

*Abe walks off just before a butterfly flutters over and brings Ghandi a dollar*

So sad but so true...

I like the slow motion scene at the end of any sports movie.

Every noise stops except for the heart beat and the tick of the clock and the shot is.........................................GOOOOOOD!

All sports movies are usually cliched except for Raging Bull and some others. But when I think of sports movies I think of a bunch of nobodies coming together and bonding to overcome some outside issues and prove themselves on the field/court/diamond blah, blah, blah...

Classic like the movie, mate:yay:

Anyhow, another would probably have to be the: "Sidekick Dies" scene from any movie where that comes into play. Just so ridiculous; especially when the sidekick's actually a better character than the "main hero".
