Anybody read the MM books by Caveney?
The premise sounds like Last Action Hero. And atleast the first book doesn't use an action film to be sucked into, but rather an adventure with "monsters" and stuff. Sounds a bit more interesting, if you ask me.

Monster Island had a King King feel to begin with, then I noticed a Jurassic Park setting (sort of).

During the course of the two books, it becomes evident that the author likes Clint Eastwood and Daniel Craig among other actors
