With rumors going around about a strike. I am wondering if i am for or against it. I am on boarder line. Cause if the strikes causes things fixed that are problems then i say do it. But if its because its wanting to happen cause the piraters and movie download sights are causing them to loose money then no.
My problem is i view movies are too congested and to the exception of the summer black busters. ALot of money is lots on over crowded movies releases.
No movie that may be good can get anywhere with 3- to 4 movies opening.
Take Star Dust a good film but wrong timing and released in conjestions.
I went to see Seeker The Dark Is Rising today.
It will bomb money wise but it was alot better then Heart Break kid and Game Plan.
My point is this movie fell away do to to many movies.
Also people can't afford and won't go to the movies for 10 bucks a movie ticket if there are too many films.
So i hope the strike lessens new releases so money can be made and ticket prices lower so a person can afford it.
What do you guys think were movies like Seeker and other films swept under do to movie release congestion and should there be a strike to make movies better.
This just a question not an opinion as of yet.

There have been rumors of a movie strike involving studios. Its been all over the enternet for they say why acertain movie is in teh rush in being made.

well movie strike would mean less movies so forget that .

movie strike...like they dont make enough money as it is....its damn pathetic for people who make as much money as they do to strike.... just like the MLB strke in 1994...i mean the lowest paid MLB player is like 250 thousand a year....then the NHL strike

i havent watched NHL or MLB since eachs strike....ashame i wont be able to give up movies lol

I'm just hoping they don't rush out movies I'm looking forward too before the strike gets underway. I'd rather they hold off and do it later, then rush out a turd. I don't think the strike will last that long though, this happens every couple of years it seems.

As long as The Dark Knight and the sequel after it isn't affected I don't care about the strike. :cwink: :yay:

If it helps the quality of future movies..im for it.

If its just to get movie execs more money..im against it.

Anyone know why a strike is a possibility? Who's striking and why? The studios, actors and writers?

As for the intial post of the thread, The Seeker failed because it had no marketing, I never saw a commercial, actually the first time I saw any advertsing was when I went to Great America a couple weeks ago, I thought it was a stunt show, didn't realize it was movie.

im with whatever doesnt affect DBZ negatively...

The bit part players who are under payed are striking for more money - all the big stars are forced to do it too. Thats it as far as I know....

yeah i dont think its too fair for the studios... it says 300 high-priority film projects are shooting during that period or w/e...

in the end it'll hurt those SAG heads as well lol

I think the whole strike is nonsense. They're not opressed miners or something, these people make millions (or at least thousands) for very little effort. Along with the sports industry the movie industry has the most undeserving big wages.

Eh no one is ever happy with what they get. They always want equal shares of the money so yeah.
All hail capitalism !

I heard a dude said how weird it would be if a strike happens, like no new movies.

I'm thinking, "How would that be any different from now?" :whatever:

I don't think the strike will affect the work force, it just means now we won't get crappy movies.

Are any of you in any film related unions? I ask, because I doubt this strike or any strike has to do with money. I'm not positive about this particular strike, but the last strike in the industry had to do with people in the various unions being able to get top of the line work. These unions are set up to make sure employees are treated fair and also to keep non-union people from taking their jobs. In a multi-billion dollar industry like Hollywood, I highly doubt it has anything to do with money. If it does, then even I can be shocked about the vanity of some people.

Come July 2008, things will become very interesting.

The strike that could happen at the end of the month is all over the Entertainment news right now, and we are afraid over the idea of it happening. The last strike was in 1988, around the time Batman (1989) was being filmed, and it lasted 22 days (or weeks) and Hollywood lost $500 Million. Before today, the strike was a threat bacjk in 2001 that never happened. I don't remember that (2001) but right now, I hope it doesn't happened.

But will it?

If the strike is long...and there's a shortage of movies to put in theaters...just put films that were headed to dvd or tv into theaters instead. Problem solved.
