MOVIE WARS

This is the first of several threads where popular duologies and trilogies (and 1 tetrology) will be taken and you vote on which is your favorite of them.

We will start off with one of the most famous and critically acclaimed trilogies: The Godfather (well, except III)

The Godfather Trilogy
  • The Godfather (1972)
  • The Godfather Part II (1974)
  • The Godfather Part III (1990)

The entire trilogy was directed by Francis Ford Coppola

I vote for Part II, though the first one is equally as good. Part II gave us more insight on Vito's childhood, and the scenes in Italy are beautiful. As an Italian, it's just amazing to see what your heritage is built on. Even the theid movie, crappy as it is, had some great footage in Italy.

Part II also gave us more development to Michael, and I personally don't think Pacino has ever been better. He absolutley nails the character even moreso than he did in the first movie.

I'm a Part I man, myself. I found the pacing to be a bit better, and the real tarnishing of a Michael's morality was a bit more powerful than anything presented in Part II. Part II seemed more like an afterthought, while Part I was sort of the main course.

Part 3 is underrated... i have said it before and i'll say it again: Godfather Part 3 is a great movie!

Part 1 10/10
Part 2 10/10
Part 3 8/10

Tie between 1 and 2, but I voted 2.
